Travel day to our favorite airport: HKG! (Hong Kong Airport). Nate has access to the Cathay Pacific First Class Lounges (The Wing and The Pier) there because of his One World Emerald Status. We ate way too much and even checked out the Qantas Business Lounge too!

You guys are living the dream! That's quite an advert for Cathay and Qantas. One tip - if you decide to fly from Africa or India to Europe, be sure to book a Qantas flight Dubai London but to take advantage of your AA status - make sure you book an actual Qantas plane, then you can sample the spectacular T3A - Emirates First Lounge using your emerald. Kara will be pleased to board with a glass of champagne in one hand and fresh sushi in the other as you board the A380!

I flew Quantas first class to Sydney from LAX on a 747. It was heaven! So great we sent my parents there first class too after our trip. Quantas was so good to us!

Thanks for the preview! I'm stuck at HKG for 6hrs next month and hope to use my OW emerald status before (likely) losing it mid-2017 by visiting all of these lounges. I suspect that the QF lounge should be quieter when I'm there (~0900 to ~1530).
aaaahhh i miss the airport one of the perks of working in the airport i get to onboard most of the flights and whenever i onboard Cathay Pacific the catering always give us a whole bag of Haagendazs ice cream!!!!

Nate, Don't feel bad for getting everything wet in the lounge. B roll shots are important (I think almost more than establishing shots). They enhance the tone of your scene . By the way, I wanted to say you are really a Pro with these vlogs. Your amazing footage, along with Kara's mad editing skills, make these videos incredibly well done. I always feel like I'm right there with you, experiencing all of these places too. Thank you for that. ❤

Dear Kara. I bought a long black dress like yours for traveling. Do you remember taking the MTR to the races on Chinese New Year? That escalator ate my dress! I was just standing near the right side as always and felt a really strong pull on the dress. About 15 inches got sucked up in the side! I was able to pull it free- but could have been naked. Be careful out there. 😜

Kara and Nate! By the looks of it, we missed each other by minutes. It would've been incredible to cross paths -- my brother and I flew from HKG that Friday afternoon and we, too, were hanging out at The Pier. Love the vlogs - on this trip, we stumbled upon that pork bun place on Shanghai Street. Safe travels down under. :-)

Jealous! Yes you can get whatever you want. And yes we have gone back and forth between lounges, but it's a long way so I suggest going to the one that's furthest from your gate first :) Make sure you schedule your massage at the Pier!

Even if you don't have OneWorld Emerald status again, you might still be able to redeem your AA miles (I see that you have enough) for a Cathay First Class ticket.

Awesome as always. Nate your computer looks like my wife's. She never cleans her computer. You should see her email. She never deletes anything, lol. As a pilot I'm such a geek about planes. If you could just mention what aircraft you're flying on would be cool. Also if you ever get to fly Emirates do it. It's awesome! And if you can somehow upgrade to first class on the A380, they have showers on board! You guys would love it!
The pilot told us the aircraft but I can't remember! We'll try to start adding that in :) I would freak out if we got upgraded to a shower seat!!!
+Kara and Nate no worries. Next flight just look at the info card that gives you emergency exits, etc. it will tell you what type of aircraft. I know I can't wait to fly on an Emirates A380 or Qatar A380. Either of them have showers!

Why you would to try to travel into parts of Australia (Sydney, Melbourne, Broken Hill, Adelaide, Perth), Indonesia (Bali, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Bandung, Jakarta) and the Philippines (Manila, Baguio, Laoag and Legazpi)?

I know you have explained your mileage farming flights and credit card miles bonus, but do you have different membership cards for all these lounges? Or one membership that lets you in, and do you have to "spend" any points to enter or once you attain a status (with what....airline or card) you just show card and walk in?

you are going to luv Australia! You should be able to get some good Street food in the big Cities especially Melbourne, obviously it won't be as cheap but hey you've been spoilt by your 90 days in SE Asia!

I've got two very good friends that live in Sydney and they say the food truck scene is taking off over there now! Are you going up the East coast? If so head to Byron Bay it's fantastic got a great hippy spiritual vibe going on with a great café culture as well

Did you have to book the Cabana in advance? Is there a time limit? Sadly, the F section of the Wing was under renovation when I was there last - looks nice now though. Cheers.
We haven't had to book in advance because there's always been one open. But if they're full I'm sure you could be added to a waiting list. The limit is an hour and a half.

We each have an osprey meridian 22 bag and a backpack with electronics and such. We left some room for purchases when we left, so somehow we've managed to stuff everything in there so far :)
