It's the stack of Tonkatsu for me. True start-up studio living. 😂
Hahaha no kidding!
This was a super helpful podcast. Many thanks to all involved! I'm looking to launch to App Lab in the next month and it's really good to know best tips for getting into the Meta Store.
This was a fantastic episode, Justin! Really helpful for other developers like myself. I am literally going through the same process and throughout the podcast I heard my story up to like 30-40% 😅
Hoping to finish the story in a similar way. The energy in this whole podcast is just great and pure passion for VR and games
Thank you so much for doing this
Great podcast. I myself am trying to someday be on the Quest store. I currently have my game Glider Sim on App Lab. It's actually doing fairly well for just on App Lab. I can't imagine the success from being on the main quest store. That is a big accomplishment that very few will achieve! Congrats to these awesome guys and thanks for the tips. I will be definitely keeping them in mind. And maybe someday get to be on the podcast too 😜 Look forward to more shows like this.
Got several more in the queue!
The advice about how to think about Meta regarding success on the store reminds me of the same way you have to think about publishers when writing a book. Publishers want to publish products that come with a near-guarantee of sales, which often means you're bringing a large and growing community (with metrics to back it up). I think this is the first time I've heard that point but it makes total sense.
Indeed. You're ultimately the one to put in the risk, and if the market says your game is good then Meta and/or a publisher is far more likely to pick you up.
Honestly these videos are really helpful. I like hearing about the processes these devs go through to make their games, keep it up Justin!
Glad you like them!
That's quite interesting, the fact that vr games seem to be much more community and interactive. Compared to traditional games and that the interaction with the community from the developers is much more important, because of the level of player interaction is higher. Could imagine in the near future maybe games will need a online assistant to assist lobbies or maintain a level of control from trolls.
Great point! Right now I don't think studios behave like businesses as much as they do just indie studios. Customer service has to be on point
What a great podcast, I learned so much as I’m starting out a very similar journey. But going the Patreon to play early access route
Very nice! I approve. What are you offering Patreons?
@@JustinPBarnett I'm builing a casual multiplayer VR game with some mini games in some worlds that are built like playgrounds just to have fun. I need time to build this so people who pay on Patreon will get exclusive early alpha access to the game in its current state and hopefully I'll have something big to update for them most months of the year. All the money from CZcams and Patreon will go towards the development of the game.
Very nice! Yea early alpha access is a great offer.
Cool vid, but can you please mount your cam to something solid.. tripod behind the table, or wall mount? When you're excited (most of the time ;-) ) heavy camera plus wobbly table is a bad combo!
Haha done! Just updated my studio so it's on a tripod again.
