Absolutely love that each of the painting collectives and guilds have completely different logo styles, peak miniature brain.
Love seeing youtubers get into the competitive painting scene. Beginner friendly tutorials are great, but sometimes it’s cool to see the higher levels of painting
So... Jazza does some Dune art, Dave getting Dune visions from coffee... when's the Dune-themed Army video?
Coffee Al Gaib!!!! You've made Hans Zimmer proud xD. That intro was 20 out of 10. I'm glad you guys are sharing more of your experiences
Talking to you guys was probably one of the highlights of the events. Getting actual feedback was amazing and really got me back into the spirit of mini painting (you're so right about walking in and going 'oh, oh, I am not at the same level as these guys' by the way). I've already started prep work for next years entry so I don't end up painting a miniature two weeks before the event!
We can't wait to see what you come up with!
. . . So, Dave is being further corrupted by Chaos? And they gods are using coffee to do it?
Interesting tactic.
This was an interesting trip down the journey you’ve all taken. Thank you, Jenn, Dave and Murray, for sharing your process and the stories with us.
And…I can’t believe I missed Arcfest! I was hoping to go this year. Hope you all had fun.
Thankyou! Yes arcfest was well worth attending
"I care about this, and I want to get good."
Yep, I've yoinked that, and it's on my whiteboard in the Hobby Dojo. Thanks for the video, TableTopTimeTeam!
Open Painting competitions are my favorite. They give paints much more than something with just a 1st, 2nd, 3rd. If you're coming every year with the same judges you can actually see your progression, and there's a reason to enter even if you aren't the best painter.
I find they also tend to encourage more conversations with the painters, which I love.
Most people don't win painting competitions. Most people don't win tournaments, but they get to play.
Open Painting competition lets painters "play" by hanging out with their peers.
Awesome video, thanks for sharing your experiences at ArcFest and for shouting out and supporting the painting guilds. Looking forward to see what happens next on you display painting journey.
I love the new format that you guys are going for! Would love to have more of these podcast style episodes to watch/listen to while studying.
(*lisan al dave confirmed?????????*)
These are all incredible. Jen's lava OSL came out stunning, to the point where it took me a second to realise the base wasn't actually glowing lol
I really love how you all went for completely different miniatures and they all look superb! Great work.
This was a great video. I entered my first competition in the last year. At the beginning I had the same apologetic feelings, but later became inspired after seeing all of the creativity regardless of skill levels. The few competitions I've been to have felt like a celebration of everyone's work rather than something truly competitive. I recommend anyone to give it a go even if you don't think you're good enough because that feeling won't go away until you just go for it!
Worm is in my coffee 😆😆😆
Malcador Squadrons and Stormhammer... finally! Hopefully Predators, Sicarans and Leman Russes will be available separately!
I like them all! But, Jenn, you knocked it out of the park!
Thank you guys for showcasing Orky Python and Da Quest for Da Big Glowin' Cup. Got a big chuckle out of that.
Was lovely to meet you all this year, your minis looked great in the cases!
Really infectious enthusiasm. I guarantee this video has pushed at least a few people to try it for themselves! Also Jen's model blew me away! Love when she shows her stuff, because it skews toward fantasy and that model is insane. Beautiful sculpt, lots of different textures, multiple light sources because of the torch. Really well done, she should be very proud.
Deltora Quest was mentioned!! This was and still is my favorite childhood book series
I started watching TTT for the cool videos on their incredibly inspiring conversations, and jaw dropping painting projects. But now I stay just for Dave’s coffee bits 😂
Great work on your competition minis! Absolutely love the lighting on Jen’s.
Please keep it up with the coffee skits 😂
Applause all around! Entering a competition is very vulnerable. I know that being in CZcams is vulnerable but a competition of your peers is very different and you all did great! Also, a bit extra kudos to Murray for facilitating the conversation, really great questions and kept the story going in such an engaging way!
I'm enjoying this new podcast-y format!
I was already in with this new format, but I didn't expect y'all to improve at the banter so rapidly. This was an absolute treat to watch. Normally I put these on in the background, this time I was watching intently the whole time.
I'm entering my first competition piece in 5 years. A local event in Norwich, UK is holding an open painting competition. I think the open format is brilliant and not as cut throat as the GD format 😊
The event is called Diceni and is the only event (AFAIK) in the UK that is free and open to the general public :-)
So cool to see my painted mini on a youtube video!! this was my first paint contest too! moved to melbourne recently and have been enjoying the thriving gaming culture down here. Unfortunately I wasn't able to participate much due to my work schedule but it was cool to see how I am going compared to others in AUS and I learned a lot just but visually seeing all the winning entries. Thanks for the video crew!
Thanks for showing off the armies from Arc of Sigmar. Great seeing these again without competing against them.
Wow! These were all so amazing and Jen's model blew me away with how lovely the colors are.
Congrats! It was nice to see you all at ArcFest. I loved looking at all the models you had there on display. All I could manage was Hi, as it is weird knowing/seeing your hobby collecting/painting experiences, but I am just a random stranger from your perspective lol.
Never be afraid to start a chat! Always happy to meet people, thanks for saying hi!
@@TabletopTime My hubby and son are even worse about talking to people. I am the main one in the family that loves Warhammer related content.
Never have i entered a painting contest till the 24 hour one, but nothing cant beat that feeling of getting knocked out first.
Thank you so much for the guild shoutouts! Can confirm it's incredibly inspiring to be with everyone and learn. Also I absolutely adore Jens model.
This video was so fun. All your minis look amazing. I'm especially captivated by Jenn's mini. All those different textures and lighting bouncing of from the surfaces. Just awesome!
I love how you can see the different painting styles on each model.
All three of those models look FANTASTIC no matter what. You all did great!
All the minis looked great! Your excitement about it was infectious and motivating! Jens Morathi in particular looked incredible!!!!
The coffee must flow.
Whispers “The beans melange”
Sleep is the mind killer
It is by will alone I set my mind in motion,
It is by the juice of coffee beans the thoughts acquire speed,
The teeth acquire stains,
The stains become a warning,
It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.
I loved the coffee gag and I loved this video! The minis looked fantastic. Can't wait for Saturday!
You're all amazing! I'm lucky that I get to see your talents on a regular basis. I can relate to those contest deadlines being very stressful and wishing there was more time to add further detail. Love how we all help each other to grow as artists.
Funny that you referenced Brian Blessed, as he is actually the voice of Gotrek Gurnisson in both the Total War Games AND in the AoS Realmslayer audioplays (which I highly reccomend).
That's great.
Honestly, while new vids are great, it is kinda good to see something with a bit more time and effort put in. It's genuinely a pleasure to see.
This is a great format btw guys, really enjoy you showing off your models like this!
These intros are a nice treat!
Great video! Loving these sit and chats ❤
You got my "Like" on the coffee bit moment.
Oh my god, I have NEVER heard anyone else reference DELTORA before, thank you so much!
It was great seeing you at ArcOpen! My sister and I entered for the first time this year, and yeah totally understand that feeling of “oh I’m out of my depth”.
Jen’s OSL on Morathi was stunning to see in person. I only wish I’d asked for feedback on my 24hr Blood Angel.
OH WAIT THERE IT IS AT 28:41
Coffee bit was awesome!!
love you guys, keep up the awesome work :)
Other people read Deltora Quest! I loved those books as a kid. Made me happy to see it pop up again, and I can totally see the resemblance.
oh my god i did not ever expect to hear someone else mention deltora quest
Good job Jen
Awesome! ArcFest was great, will definitely go back next year 😉 thanks for the 2nd place in the 24h challenge 😂 I was planning on buying a wet palette at some point!
Well done on the paint job
I'd love to see you guys cover some Battletech. They have a huge kickstarter shipping soon with a bunch of new minis.
Would love a video on how you did the stippling on the cloak, it came out great!
I do not feel ready to enter any painting competitions. But I loved hearing off your experience, your minis are stunning!
You guys should come down to the Melbourne figure painters collective meet up. It's a really great community that's being built up.
I remember my first real painting competition I was so excited looking at my model next to the others. Excitement and disbelief as people commented on how nice my model was and saying it should win.
Then...at the last minute a Golden Daemon winner brought his model and I knew...it was so much better than mine.
He won...
Near end of video and you guys mention orks, I love the orks was one of what I painted back 30 years ago and I'm painting Ork boy whilst I've been watching 😊
So, since you mentioned that you wanted to talk about a more global range of mini painting stuff; I always wondered if there were other brands to be recommended for a similar experience as building a Warhammer mini?
The main reason I mainly look at Warhammer minis is because I am not that big of a fan of pre-build designs, so I would love to hear some alternatives in a video maybe one day? Could be nice to hear the pro/cons of certain brands, finding more ways to kitbash, and in general a broader range of painting/building projects to do from time to time!
The coffee bits are fun.
Video sponsored by Orange Fanta? Hahaha. Love your guys content. Australia and going to your shop and meeting you guys is a bucket list item.
Enjoy these formats
Such an inspiring video, and I loved the coffee bit!
Question: Could you do a video on the best ways to start out on model painting? As a newcomer to the hobby, it's hard to know what to prioritise, especially if you're working with a tight budget.
Much love from the UK!
With Ninjon sharing a portion of his golden demon process, would you consider doing the same thing? Show your design process maybe a mid way and then an end video after competition? This was great and seeing more people enter makes me think I might try too.
As the saying goes "Perfection is the enemy of Good." For a reason chasing "Perfection" can be an infinite quest.
Jen’s mini looks amazing.
painting guilde shout out 10/10
coffee bit, dope
I hope these style videos are doing well for you guys. It feels like such a cool little hangout time with my parasocial friends.
Token comment of appreciation for the miniature painting community
MOAR COFFEE GAGS
Love seeing your entries!
I hope to become better and better and good enough to enter a competition too some day :D
More coffee gag!
modiphius entertainment needs more love on social media i feel, their models and ips are so good. definetly love fallout but i have appreciation but skyrim and the star trek models
I laughed out loud in the coffe bit
LISAN AL DAVE!!! as it was foretold.....
I've been painting miniatures again for about a year after a 30 odd year break, I build scale vehicles, gundam, I've just started printing models and learning cad . Most things I make I have to paint so detail painting is going to be a must . Well done on your entries loved them all , it's Great to keep learning, I'm in the UK central London, close to bad moon cafe , I'm on the cusp of packing my painting gear and doing some painting whilst I have a coffee and watch some gaming as I don't know how to play 40k but have started building armies. Once again ❤ the video,I'm going to start looking for painting comps in the UK
Best of luck keeping with the hobby after hiatus
Great video, I like to mix my own colours and I'm practicing my glazing
I was at the event on Saturday and wanted to say hello when you walked past but I was hangry and on a mission to Springvale for a bahn mi… Hoping to enter the comp next year! Great video :)
We confess we also ditched for an hour Saturday for a Springvale Bahn Mi
Are you going to do Crimson Brush as well this year? Some of the Australian painters I follow are mind-blowingly amazing! (Ben Layton, Big Deno, Andy Buckley, Bunny etc)
Love the episode!! looking forward to the join destroying video ;) speaking of scrap... whatever happened to Gatecrash?
Ow wow, love to see this
I don’t know anyone from this company, but Corvus Belle Infinity are the best miniatures I have ever seen
Love the coffee gag team, keep going with the movie themes please?
This week its a TV Show
The S dragons were the dragon models I grew up with, and I was never really a fan. The 2-headed chaos dragon was my favourite*, but even so, the design didn't really do it for me.
I do appreciate them more now, as i do have a better understanding of the limitations they were working with both in sculpting and casting, so maybe I like them a little more? Not sure if I'll ever try hunt one down though.
*The later plastic High Elf dragon is nicer - i guess the lighter material meant they could try new tricks in posing.
I am super keen to get the Marauder Giant though. I loved it as a kid, and i still prefer it to the lanky blobby gargants that came later.
Oh, and the coffee openers are great. Waiting for the Pulp Fiction briefcase spoof. ;)
Welcome to paint my minis, i dont live too far i believe
All of you painted awesome pieces but Jen's blows me away. it might just be the scale and more room for fun color and blending and light reflections. Again all of you had amazing pieces but damn, that piece is amazing.
She did such an amazing job, if she'd just had the extra time she wanted to smooth out all the blends and put on final spot highlights (she planned to) it would have been a real contender for a medal
@@TabletopTime honestly, already was but by the sound of it that would have been an even more amazing piece, she should do it anyway :D
Very nice guys! Painting up 2500 points of iron fists space marines
Well its great you are taking your own advice. I agree with this earlier comment "Would love to have more of these podcast style episodes to watch/listen to while studying." Thanks for the video... well done, well done. - (ok semi-creepy) old guy at Adepticon. BTW what is a "tumbeler(?) per Murray. Also I liked the coffee bit... and look forward to the "making of" video
DAVE, MY SAVIOR
I'm also more in love with the old prosecutor wings than the new ones, Im so glad someone else is willing to say it
Also Damn Jenn, that Morathi looks fucking awesome! They're all awesome, but Morathi just screams my name.
"How is the coffee? Spicy."
Mini Al Gaib: What’s in the box?
Jazza: Shame.
*Al Gaib sees piles of boxes behind The Jazza.
Good intro bit
My only comment on the coffee bit is please put something in the cups. That empty cup sound is such a frustration from movies and TV.
Hahaha we drank the damn thing while making the dune skit so by the time we sat down ...
GO Brissy GUILD!!!
I want you to make a Loyalist Clone Grim!
The coffee skit was a missed opportunity to say "The sleeper must awaken!"
gosh I'm gonna have to look up if theres a tasmanian painting guild because I would love to one day do some actual competition entries, also just something to get me out of the house and my painting cave 😅
am also gonna have to look into getting to arcfest one day
Want More Coffee bits.
Ya know i like to ask whatcha think of Kitbashing for armies and such like playable Of Kitbash models?
When you mention other smaller companies and other games, would you be open to things like miniature agnostic games? Especially more obscure indy games? Games like you mjght find in 28 Magazine.
Control the coffee, control the universe..... Or something like that
