Gagarin is a legend. My greatest respect to him!
He had really beautiful voice. Just like his smile.
This is fascinating - thank you so much for uploading. Yuri Gagarin was such an incredibly brave man and it's wonderful to hear him speak.
Couldn't agree more!
I saw this launch pn British TV and followed his progress with fascination. Much later I was at his graveside in Siberia... a trip I never imagined I would make when a young boy! Thank You Major Gagarin!
Oh, such a lovely story! Actually, I didn´t know where his grave was
He has made his name in every history book. I read his name in My 9th class science book.
Yes, he did! Such a brave man!
Oh, I loved it! Such a great man in History.
Thanks for watching!
The gigantic leap taken by the USSR after it was formed in 1917 is undeniable. Gagarin, Sergei Korolev, Konstantin Tsiolkovsky from Kaluga. Beautiful. My respects
for sure I thank Gagarin for speaking slowly and in a fully comprehensible way.
thank you Kristina for this extremely interesting video.
Glad you enjoyed it, Ferruccio! Yes, he was speaking surprisingly slowly and clearly, almost as if he was reading the text 🤔🤔
@@Natashanjka hi Natalia, yes, she can talk fast, but she also has a clear voice and she doesn't "eat" words. but my favourite is димитрий Киселёв, that's one who talks in a really slow Russian.
thank you for stopping by. ciao.
Boost Your Russian I thought this too. It seemed to be a very political speech for a scientific endeavor. I don’t know much about him or this time so I’m eager to learn. Thank you for this upload!
Good video. I like it a lot.
I love russian language so much. Greetings from Dominican Republic, my native town.
Glad you enjoyed it! Greetings from Russian :)
Beautiful video and makes me happy to have learned enough Russian to follow along somewhat with this historic document. It also gives me a strange sense of melancholy though--тоска, может быть :)--to listen to it. Gagarin just seems so excited to blast off into the future, everything about his tone and his rhetoric speaks to him having this intense, lived experience: his words are an ode to newness and possibility, an open love letter to humanity's present and future generations.
Now we're listening to this almost sixty years later, and we the future generations can only hear Gagarin's voice as a historical echo mediated by a veil of record crackle. The great social experiments of the 20th century like the soviet union have failed, and we find ourselves not blasting off into a bright future so much as we're cast flailing into an uncertain one. I miss that feeling of being excited for what's next.
Oh yes, I also love how excited he is about the future! You can really feel it in his speech
It was a time full of hope and optimism in the world, the future seemed so bright. A very different world than the one we live in today.
PAULO JAN
We are proud of you comrade!
For his Nation and Mankind ❤🇿🇦

This speech is way slower and easier to understand and follow, than Putin's speeches.
Not Russian... Soviet.
This path was opened by a united effort of the people.
They meant the language he spoke. Not the achievement.
But yes, this was purely the collective effort of all fifteen republics of the Soviet people. The achievement of many into the burden of one. And he had gone where no man had before. Through the firmament.
One of the real heroes of the 20th century. Politically one of his people. But you can't take it away from the man.
Thank you mam I am truly grateful to you....🇮🇳
It's my pleasure

Can someone help me? How do you say, "прожито"?
Gagarin puts the stress on the first "o" but I checked some dictionaries, (as well as Google Translate and Yandex Translate) and the stress is in the "и"
It´s one of those words where any of the first two syllables can be stressed. It depends only on personal preferences
@@BoostYourRussian oh, okay... thanks!
As a native speaker, i always stress "o" and have actually never heard about "и". You've surprised me xD
Death of the Author I guess, but I believe there's neither Red Men nor Blue Men when you can see the emerald marble from over 100 kilometers above the heavens
this is great. But where can i find the whole transcript of this particular speech, in russian.?
this would generally be very useful to have the whole text, not line by line as in subtitles. any way to get those?
Edit: found it greatwords.org/quotes/7882/ :-) there are some discrepancies in transcript and i think also some short cuts. this is what i stitched together from 2 sources and matches the video:
Come on a little work and you have everything: I just wrote it down listening to this video and pausing it in between.
russian is soo sooo beautiful 😍
can't read the translation when I stop the video to write ... bummer...
Why not?
@@BoostYourRussian when you stop to type, that tool bar pops up and covers the translation... which should be placed a little higher on the page..

"I would like to dedicate this first flight to the people of communism; a society into which our soviet people are entering into, and to which I believe all people on earth will enter."
Manu Chao brought me here
Hahah what does Manu Chau have to do with Gagarin?
@@BoostYourRussian The song Infinita Tristeza has he speech sampled, both in russian and a dubbed version in french, which now that I know it's meaning brings a tear in my eye to hear such a beautiful song. PD: I don't speak russian only a bit of french but I guess that's internet beauty
