- Kings live some of the most extraordinary lives of any human beings. They can have seemingly limitless wealth, power, and time to do what they want. But one thing seems to mirror extraordinary lives: extraordinary deaths.
The kings on this list have some of the most unusual, sometimes painful deaths you may ever heard of - from a mouthful of molten gold to the nastiest case of gangrene you can imagine. And while some of these deaths were ordered by the hands of others, some of them are just outright bad luck.

I don't know how he does it, but this guy pronouncing Chinese names perfectly is wonderful.
This has been my favorite channel 3 years in a row
What did you like 4 years ago?
I'm glad he stopped pushing the propaganda though. Stopped watching this channel about a year ago only just came back recently to see if he isn't pushing that agenda anymore. The pay cheques must have stopped.
@@HiHello-ql3su Your videos.
It is an interesting channel with a good narrator.
It's like we all get the same recommendations when pendemic kicked in
My god, The Voice nailed that Chinese dudes name like elevendy-four times. All hail The Voice!
There is no way that first one wasn't an elaborate assassination.
As soon as I saw the title, I was hoping you'd mention the Greek king who died from an infected monkey bite, and was pleased when you did.
a few suggestions from ancient Rome:
Valentinian I is said to have shouted himself to death. Apparently, he got so angry at a foreign diplomat he shouted until he had an aneurysm
Jovian's death was brought about by poisonous fumes from his newly painted bedroom walls.
Valerian was possibly either skinned alive or forced to drink molten gold. .
It's always fascinating learning about stories like these
Love Weird History!❤️
Same here
I love the narrator's sense of humor and inflictions in his voice. Makes it even more hilarious.
This is legit the best channel on CZcams 😊
Thanks for teaching me random stuff Weird History
Love these videos, but your use of any old pictures, not even from the correct time period, triggers OCD I didn't know I had!😂
Another English King had a weird death. King Henry I enjoyed eating Lampreys (A kind of Eel). His doctor told him he should cut back on eating the sea delicacy but Henry was stubborn and kept eating them. On one occasion, he ate and ate and ate lampreys until he started to feel ill. His doctor helped induce his bowels to help cure him but he frequently went to poo until the condition led to his demise.
The worst medieval death for me was death by force drinking molten gold! holy smokes batman!, can you imagine that shit?
Well, at least they left this mortal world behind with a bang otherwise we wouldn't be sitting here discussing and making videos about it, now would we?
The death of King Charles I of England doesn't seem that weird at first, he just had his head lopped off for committing tyranny, until you hear it described by Monty Python in Oliver Cromwell. It is a song about Oliver Cromwell, and the death of Charles I figures prominently in it. To the best of my knowledge it is about as accurate as you can make a song that lasts about four minutes. But you know what would be weird would be to learn about which popular purveyors of poetry and all things entertaining are actually pretty accurate. The aforementioned Pythons of course, but don't forget They Might Be Giants.
You missed two of the weirder ones, both French kings. 18-year old Louis III was pursuing a fleeing young woman, cracked his head on a doorframe, and died of a fractured skull. Charles VIII also died from bumping his head on a doorframe, although this time it seemed to be from sheer clumsiness. He didn't die immediately, but several hours later, presumably of concussion.
Cerebral haemorrhage perhaps?
0:03 The History of the World Part 1 (1981) had quite the cast, including cameo appearances by Hugh Hefner and Bea Arthur and narration by Orson Welles (AKA Citizen Kane).
I love the narrator. Great sense of humor and down right hilarious at times telling the stories.
I 100% agree. I love his voice.
@0:31 The Pink Panther is the only song from sheet music that I remember how to play on the piano in full.
Love that show!
If you wanna know just how gross the gangrene thing is without looking it up yourself: 99.99% of results on google images come with content warnings. I only came across two that didn’t have it.
I've actually treated gangrene in the ER. I'd rather find another dead floater.
You can turn safe search off.
@@WastedTalent- I’m well aware
I can smell those pictures. 😬
Best narrarator ever!
The narrator had too much fun saying the Chinese emperor’s name
Love this channel
Because despite having all that power they still have an appointment with Dr. Death one day.
We all do. After whipping Death's arse i'm hunting down the abusers who mistreated me as a child. Then going after god for allowing that shit to happen. I so hope there is an afterlife and a god so I can get my justice!

Eating ANOTHER Weird History meal!
This time eating HAMBURGER HELPER STROGANOFF (from the Weird History Food video "The White-Gloved History of Hamburger Helper) with parmesan cheese and cafe con leche...while watching this Weird History video!
What an interesting subject. Thanks for sharing this.
Thank you for this video! 😀🌸
The narrator for weird history is hands-down the best
A+ video!
Awesome video, LOVE IT!
1:24 Cabernet fabric coffin 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 The videos are always great here but I love the narration.
As a Hungarian thank you for covering Béla I. and Attila! Béla was the first person that came to my mind when I read the video title
"It's good to be the king." -Mel Brooks
Up until you go up in flames, that is.
In reality it's not really great, being a King, Prince, or Princess wasn't the greatest, you had to fight, keep your throne, and marry some person 50 years older than you for an alliance.
It may be good to be the king but once a knight is enough
HEAVY iS THE HEAD THAT WEARS THE CROWN👑🏰.@@arcturionblade1077
I would rather have access to mass produced bleach, soap, and toothpaste than be a king
😂
There's more weird ones than this, a part two is a must
Never fails to inform and educate. 11/10.
I know I've seen these videos before at some point but I'm so so glad I found it again because I have always loved World History if all sorts and especially weird facts of anything at all. Learning about WWII was so striking as a child that I because very knowledgeable in it and Hitler as well, because of the psychology behind it and how a person could become a monster like that. I will never stop learning and this is a quick and entertaining way to get some facts in ❤ thank you!!!!
The candle in the wind comment got me 😂😂😂
0:31 I hope they start making the cereal Pink Panther Flakes again, they had it in the 70s.
That is one of my Top 10 Lost Foods.
Could you make a video about King Albert 1 of Belgium? He saved his country by partly destroying it at the battle of the Yser and his death is also a bit of a mystery.
I absolutely get a kick out of this channel! Y'all are a hoot! 😂
0:56 “afternoon mixology class at Chili’s!” 😂😂😂
Charles II death was most horrific for me
Ikr ? He just had to be sewn into his sheets ... not simply wrapped 🤔
Charles II of Navarre, not Charles II of England. Wrong portrait.
This is a new low for misinformation about Stewart kings. Mixing him up with another king entirely is pretty bad. Although the times I've heard them claim that James II totally wanted to make everyone catholic and then he got William Penn to help him write the document to do so make me wince. Obviously, he actually was for religious freedom in general after his traumatic childhood. I can guarantee, the quaker who who was pro interracial marriage and pro religious freedom DID NOT want Catholicism to be the law in England. Although it does help that I actually read what he tried to do and it included Protestants, Catholics, and even Jews having freedom of worship and freedom to hold any job. No mention of any other religions, but since that got thrown out for them finally letting other Protestants not of the church of England freely worship. ...Thank goodness tyranny was overthrown and they kicked out a king who personally helped fight the Fire of London from the bucket lines...
the dude who fell from the throne, thats wild
Have you ever done the history of diseases? If not, that would be fun 😅
Awesome
Wrong King Charles II in the photos, but interesting video nonetheless.
Yeah I was about to say that. It’s Charles ii of England photo.
Yes, I caught that too
Moi aussi! (Oui, he spoke French ;))
Moi aussi! (Oui, he spoke French ;))
The Chinese Emperors tomb was designed to look like a map of his kingdom/empire. The Mercury was used to show the rivers. It was NO ACCIDENT.
The Mercury Blues by Alan Jackson?
Candle in the wind 😂 BEAUTIFUL ❤️
Now on to the crimes against humanity by kings over thousands of years.
This is pretty good.
Just unbelievable that such a high-quality video, with a similar theme as 1,000 Ways To Die, was made in like two days!
Thanks for this! 👑 #WeirdHistory #RoyalDeaths
Oh, that wine winding sheet thing is the main ingredient in most of my nightmares!
The first one is hilarious. They were like, well ethanol is an astringent so it must be able to suck sickness out lol
I love this narrator! Funny as hell.
4:53 I googled and I cant believe you didnt warn me, with more conviction! 😫😫
This had a fun 'Eat the rich' vibe to it. 😊
Candle in the wind… hilarious!
My people would give me the Marie Antoinette treatment.......
i am once again requesting you make a video on the voynich manuscript (please)
Gotta do the Hollywood Tropicana!
"Cabernet Fabric-Coffin" genius level pun!
@2:22 Our family dog, when I was growing up, was a German Shepherd named Farrah, after the model and actress Farrah Fawcett.
She was a beautiful dog :)
How was her relationship with monkeys?
7:13 I wasn't watching, just listening and it sounded like you said " tail of a hung guy" 😂😂😂
@4:20 Archeologists found some partial plans for the gigantic grave with the terracotta soldiers. It says there is/was a river of mercury somewhere under ground.
It is claimed that the people who looted William the conqueror's body, were his courtiers who hated him, because he was a rather nasty boss.
@6:23 "Candle In The Wind/Something About The Way You Look Tonight" was the US #1 hit on my 18th birthday.
- "Perfect Day" by various artists was #1 in the UK.
- "Tubthumbing" by Chumbawamba was #1 in Canada and Australia
- "Barbie Girl" by Aqua was #1 in Germany.
Bro’s pronunciation of 秦始皇 is epic😂
10:08 That reminds me of the Far Side comic where a guy on fire was pointing his finger towards two women.
"Step back Loretta!...It's a red-hot poker!"
I thought Catherine of Russia would have been included. Her death was CRAZY !!!!!
You said not to look up genital gangrene but I did and now I am full of regret
Same 🤣
0:31 On the films The Pink Panther (2006) and The Pink Panther 2 (2009), it is hilarious how Jacques Clouseau (Steve Martin) is always attacking Gendarme Gilbert Ponton (Jean Reno) at random "to keep his reflexes sharp."
0:58 I once went to Chilli's with my friend for my birthday.
We should have went there for a mixology class!
@3:11 I remember seeing an image of the Terracotta Army in the Weird History video "Suprising Facts About Ancient Landmarks."
I will check out the Weird History video of "Fascinating Facts About China's Terracotta Army"!
i just KNEW adolf fredrik would be in this video
You forgot the best part about the poker demise rumor… it was in the bum !😮
Biggest oof
You like a poker in the bum? good for you. Don't hide who you are!
He didn't forget, he just said it nicer than the clearly obvious
@7:03 One of the most famous black cats is Felix the Cat, first appearing as a cartoon character in 1919.
The hot poker thing has been debunked, btw. I recently saw a documentary that talked about it.
WICKED COOL😢
Can yall cover Octaroon Balls and Placage in New Orleans?
might be useful to use the proper image of king charles ii of navarre, and not king charles ii of england...
0:31 After a competition, they should make designate a Pink Pather diamond like those Pink Panther films.
It would be like a new treasure.
@3:36 that is Boldt Castle... no?
The last one
it was the eating one for me, lol
@2:48 That is a common occurence in the medical field today, where the staff refuse to make a decision because of fear of the consequences.
That is why is it VERY IMPORTANT to always get at least a second opinion.
Good times!
The last was the worst. Because that red hot poker went somewhere, the sun don’t shine. And I just cannot imagine it for the life of me.
Your first two portraits at 0:46 are of the wrong Charles II.
One English King died because
of eating lampreys... Weird!
"The King of Weird King Deaths" is a pretty rarefied title, though.
You've got the wrong King Charles II pictured. The pic is of Charles II of England, not Charles II of Navarre.
OKAY, love your channel, but why the PC stuff????
You showed pictures of the wrong Charles II at the start of the video.
Adolf Fredriks last meal has been staged on Swedish television, let's just say that the guy who ate the whole menu had a team of doctors and nurses standing by. Oh, and please make a video about Emma Goldman!
I Googled Fournier’s gangrene, and I sincerely wish I hadn't.
If there's one thing I want before I die, I hope I remain handsome.
Death by horse saddle, what a way to go 😂
Why is Boldt castle shown so many times in this video?
