    The school uniform is from Ashfield Boys High School, here in Sydney. The boys started performing when Angus was still at high school, and he would literally go from school to gigs, and audiences got used to the uniform, and demanded it whenever he had anything else on. As a result it became his trademark. His ability to move around was also an early trademark. His older brother had been in another internationally successful band called the Easybeats and their music connections meant that Angus had early access to the wireless transmitter from the electric guitar to the amps and so he was one of the first to be able to freely move around while playing and this was part of what made AC/DC performances look so energetic and different to other bands of the early/mid 70’s.
    The Easybeats are worth checking out. Here in Australia they are legends. There are lots of black and white clips online from Australia, UK, and Germany in the 60’s. Friday On My Mind and She’s So Fine are popular.

      In the early days of the band, Angus wore something very similar to a superman outfit. It was his sister who suggested that he try wearing the schoolboy costume. He never looked back.

    • @drServitis
      @drServitis Před rokem +1

      Actually Angus was a teacher of maths at Ashfield High School after he graduated Uni and one of his students suggested Angus should wear the school uniform while Angus performed on stage. Angus was fired from his teaching job at Ashfield because of it, thus the line "Having trouble with your high-school head" in the song Dirty Deeds.

    Correct they are an Australian band. The name AC/DC comes from terms for electricity. Alternating current / direct current. They felt it suited their music, raw energy, electrified, power driven.

      Apparently the AC/DC was a label on a switch on a Singer sewing machine.

      @@artistjoh folklore is a funny thing as I always heard the tale that one of the member's sisters spotted it written on a vacuum cleaner while the boys were trying to think of a name.

    • @artistjoh
      @artistjoh Před 2 lety +1

      @@that70sgirl17 It was actually the label on a switch on a Singer sewing machine. The switch was for switching between electrical supplies on a very old fashioned machine (they don't have those switches anymore as far as I know). And you are spot on that the sister pointed it out, but it always meant electrical current, and they liked it as a name for what it represented in their "livewire" music and performances.

    AC/DC have all ways dressed the same way since they first started out in Sydney Australia, nothing fancy for them.
    Jeans, tank tops, t - shirts.
    Even at award shows they turned up slightly more fancy T-shirts.
    There very down to earth.
    Born in England, went to Australia as young children.
    Brian lead singer is a Scotsman.
    Glad your enjoying it.

    Yes they are an Australian band. They were immigrants from Scotland to Sydney and they honed their craft touring our immense continent in large pubs of the 70’s. You had to be good and loud to be accepted by 2000 intoxicated mainly men. Cold Chisel and Jimmy Barnes did the same sought of touring. In those days there were no festivals. Hence Australia had great, unique, loud pub bands.

They are all in! No holds barred. They put on a great show with so much energy. One of my goto rock bands for listening. Metallica being another. Timeless classics that will be hard to match. We Aussies would love if you could fit one of these songs into your playlist for our ANZAC day. Redgum's "I was only nineteen" czcams.com/video/mGDhzVi1bqU/video.html , or Eric Bogle's "The band played Waltzing Matilda." czcams.com/video/cnFzCmAyOp8/video.html Both are applicable songs for today, and for around the world. Not uncommon for Angus the guitarist to require help with an oxygen tank to assist with his breathing and stop him from passing out during a concert due to how much energy he gives. They are Australian by the way. AC and DC are electrical power types. Some countries use 1 or another or both. Some appliances have AC/DC on it. The guitarists sister saw it on a sowing machine and suggested it. The rest us history.

    I'm sorry to disagree with you Andre, but this is definitely Heavy Metal. They hadn't come up with a fitting name for it when AC/DC started out in the 70's that's why it's called Rock. I've already recommended 2 Cellos, but their cover of this song would be the best introduction. The video starts with what most people think of when it comes to the Cello. With people in Powdered Wigs and Classical Music. Then it erupts into Heavy Metal on Cellos. Talking about Artists doing unexpected covers. Today I discovered Tina Arena performing a cover of AC/DC's "Back In Black" it's great.
