    It's cool to see newer content coming out for first-time owners modding the R53. Takes me down memory lane from 10 years ago.

    Nice first wave of mods. Pulley just wakes these cars up doesn’t it?
    A rear sway bar for improved cornering along with a quality intake/exhaust to improve breathing (especially with that pulley) will really round out the transformation.
    Enjoy!

    Those rims might look good, but they weigh about 11½kg each; if you want to wake up the handling, get a set of lightweight rims and some decent tyres (MPS4 are the go-to nowadays). I'm sure that Miriam can help, but that's a good start!

    Do like this R53 Stef, do miss the whine from the early BMW Mini superchargers. Keep modifying. JenniferLouise is running a 2021 JCW Countryman with 300ps which is insane, but clearly we wont fiddle with it.

    Interesting.
    Very interesting, personally, I wouldn't bother with the short shifter, I'd get a different exhaust, maybe bits to the =suspension and leave the outside stock.
    Love the seats in Myriam's car

    I wish my [VA] WRX took to mods as easily as this (and other) MINI Copper S. Moding the WRX is a nightmare. Every where you turn, an ECU tune is needed. This MCS gobbles up intake hoses and s/c pulleies w/o issue. It just says "thank you" and goes. 🏁

    Os your car tune? I have a 03 mini and has a intercooler intake full exhaust and I haven't put the pully on yet because I dont know I would need a tune after it

    • @StefABtv
      @StefABtv  Před 2 lety +1

      Hasn’t had a remap no. You feel the difference straight away with the pulley. Could prob get a bit more with a tune though

    Can somebody tell me why the original Mini has the bigger Pulley? Why wouldn't they put the 17% one from te factory?

    • @billmarsh3767
      @billmarsh3767 Před 2 lety +1

      The smaller 17% pulley creates more load on the engine----I have a 2004 JCW Mini that came with an 11% pulley----this was the factory hotrod--it also had better intercooler from the factory. It's a grin-inducing car for sure.

      Emissions, safe(er) boost levels, and drivability. Plus you can save the small pulley for higher performance models.

    I asked ''Mod A Mini '' to renew my brake cables on my R53, they don't reply to messages from their web site, gave them 3 months, then ended up doing all the brakes myself including the calipers, which would of been a good job for them ... It's like they just never wanted the job in the first place!! ... Only time I ever got a response was when I wrote on their CZcams page, but even after that, they ignored me and never got back to me .... Not very good customer relations to say the least!!

    The front leak, one bolt to remove and 3 dollars for the seal, why not do it? Power steering reservoir leak, no bolts, remove the cap replace the 3 dollar seal. Done dripping. No more drips, front or back.

  • @MiniManiac
    @MiniManiac Před 2 lety +4

    Hello, I have a few questions about the modification!
    A smaller pulley has now been installed and fortunately at least the correct spark plugs.
    - But what about larger injectors ala JCW 380cc?
    Without the larger injectors the MINI runs too meagre
    and the death of the cylinder head sends its regards! (valves can burn out)
    - What about adjusting the software ala JCW 200hp or 210hp?
    Especially with the software adjustment, the conversion to a smaller pulley
    becomes interesting and the potential is properly exploited!
    - why a 17% pulley, as this is absolutely counterprotuctive for the cooling
    (water pump turns much too fast and only whisks the water and transports this much less)
    Even with the Airtec the charge air temperature becomes too high and from approx.65C°
    the control unit goes into component protection and resets the ignition angle = immense loss of power!
    The best way is 11,5% max. 13% from Stock (here the compressor is still running in its specification)
    Greetings from Germany
