  • This video is about creating a chippy distressed finish for a piece of furniture as well as doors.. It's all about the layers of colors and scraping back to get that beautiful depth and richness.

Hi, I have a white painted solid wood kitchen. I think I can put a primer on first, then work with the chalk paint on top? Following the steps in your video? I would like to try a deep red/rust with the coco on top.

Thanks for your question. You don’t really need to prime you can just start Primer Red Chalk Paint® and follow with the Coco. You can cover as much or as little with the Coco. Then wax for an amazing finish. Those colors are beautiful together.
Let us know how we can get you started with your project and thanks for following. Kim

@@methenyweirpaintedfinishes7085 thanks for the quick response! could I layer the colors? Say a darker brown, then the red and the coco? Seems that the lighter color goes on last, except for the dark wax, correct?

@@judemclean1522 sure. You can choose any colors for this finish. We did the dry brush of any white Chalk paint®.

How did you get it to crackle?💌

    • @methenyweirpaintedfinishes7085

You get the cracks from applying Annie Sloan chalk paint a little thicker and hit it with a blow dryer which makes the paint crackle.
