There are millions of people living in US, more decades, working hard and paying taxes without any recognition and treated unfairly, I think is time for these immigrants to get their status, they already pay their price to stuck in US without going back to their country and able to come back, while there are others that apparently come legally and get all the benefits without contributing to the IS economy or even paying taxes
Exactly. Then do nothing. Just for midterm. After that you hear the rhetoric. Folks should just stay home in November. What's to happen happen. They take people for idiots. Immigrants paying into social security with their ITIN numbers from IRS but can't get any benefits from it. So they want to keep things that way. Use immigrants tax money to help fund their social security for their people and poor immigrants have nothing to get when they can no longer work. Usury.

I don’t think the president would have any problems signing an executive order, but that doesn’t not guarantee anything permanent. An executive order could be challenged by another president etc. I guess he is looking to do something that would be more permanent, instead of creating a temporal relieve.
And that's why democrats take advantage of the immigrant community Because democrats know that immigrants have no other option You guys need to put someone who can actually do something about immigration Tho I don't live in USA but one day I wanna move there but it's getting harder and harder everyday
It's simple. They introduced this for votes in November. It's a rather nice gesture, but it wreaks of desperation, and they're gonna have to do more. A substantial base of potential voters awaits them if they can process siblings in 7 months. Something they should have been doing for years now.
Your analysis is always so concise, and very much appreciated. It’s sad that the democrats are trying to portray that they are doing something in this regard, especially since an election is on the horizon. So us citizens, who are aware of the terrible situations our undocumented brothers and sisters are facing, should go out and vote for them based off of false promises, no way, I’ll keep my vote unless I see something concrete that produces a result.
Many immigrants have already lose hope. Too much bills and proposals, but nothing done. Seems like America doesn’t need Hard working Immigrants, farm and essential workers. Daca and TPS holders who have been here for decades deserve a relief. This is a common sens reform needed.There are jobs but no workers out there to fill openings , and the economic is getting affected.Radical Hate driven politics is always a disaster.
I feel this Amnesty should cover DACA too. After all, they isolated DACA and essential workers to be given first while forgetting others. They should have a proposal to cover everybody instead of breaking it up to favor a part and not the other.
This covers most of them , what you are asking will never happen! If they can't do anything for DACA you think they will do something for all? Please , either all or none is not the solution but the ones that have been here for decades deserve a chance !

I am one of the recipients of the TPS card and I am waiting for the happy news with patience, and I always pray to God that I get a green card so that I can meet with my family. Knowing that I am in the United States of six years
this proposal . would help a lot to the economy to the country . there is a HUGE shortage of workers . in every area but most in construction where I work . I can;t find workers .. very frustating

I lost my father on the 7th of this month. I have been living illegally in this beautiful country for 24 years, when I spoke with my father on the phone, he was constantly telling me to come back now, we missed you so much. Now I ask myself, did I love this land where I lived illegally more than my father, but I couldn't go to them?
Is not that but look how they trick all illegals in thinking this year is the year and the years go ! Those that are educated and powerful keep us with fake hope and empty spoon . This is the worst because we are good people and there is no threat to them

Pardon my French, but it's about bloody time something like this was introduced. The whole idea of "amnesty" has been forgotten yet for millions stuck in limbo there needs to be a solution. The immigration mess in the US has been growing for decades and being ignored just as long - lawmakers cannot keep ignoring it forever and pretending that there isn't a problem when there very much is. And the more they wait the worse it will become and the more difficult it will be to fix sensibly. The Registry Act has been amended many times previously since it's initial introduction. The solution SHOULD BE to amend this act again. The problem is all they do is change the cutoff date and let it lapse, essentially repeating the same problem in cycles - that's both not an effective solution or a viable long term solution. It has clearly also contributed to the mess the country is in right now. A better amendment and the smarter way to do it would be to not just change the date but also implement a rolling update that bumps up that cutoff date automatically every year. For one, it would keep the act RELEVANT instead of being an outdated law that nobody can rely on. Second, it would help the millions who have been stuck in the US for the last 30 years and significantly cut down on the numbers of undocumented. Third, it would open the door for future legal immigration for folks who need that kind help or who don't have any other way to adjust their status. How does a country that's essentially been built on the backs of immigrants be so anti-immigrant in it's laws and policies??? Don't today's lawmakers see the millions who are being impacted by their lack of action??? Or are our lawmakers so detached from society and out of touch with real life that they don't even know their jobs anymore??? Becoming a US citizen should not be "a dream" - it needs to be a real and achievable objective!!!
