  • Sentinels, the team that won Masters Madrid a little over a month ago, are now at risk of missing out on Masters Shanghai.
    It’s pretty likely that they miss out on playoffs altogether in VCT Americas, so what the hell is going on with them?

    Short answer, they barely had time after winning masters to come up with new things, be it strats, plays, ideas, team comps etc.

    I think the schedule is way too tight, and so there isn't time for the top teams to cook, in the sense that there is not enough time for them to develop new strategies that can counter what counters the strategy that got them to the top. At the end of the day, Valorant, as a class based tactical shooter, has metas and strats that are a lot more random than your Counter Strike due to its nature with agents, so there will be agents that can hard counter other agent's ability and not just throw smokes, throw nades and shoot at the end of the day. Sentinels, being a top team that did really well, means everybody is wanting to strike them down, and learning their strategies that they used to win before they can make a new strategy to keep their opponents on their toes.

    The scheduling of the tournaments are way too tight especially for those who participated in Masters. It's no surprise some of the teams who participated Masters are burned out and aren't doing ok.
    We've seen in the past years of Valorant Esports, there has never been a single Masters winner that won the next big tournament.
    The main issue is how tight the schedule has become since franchising happened so teams who didn't make it to the first Masters has the opportunity to watch the other teams play.
    Overall, I wouldn't mind if Sentinels missed out Shanghai. They have enough points to make it to Champions and they can use the mid season break to recover before Stage 2.

    Lots of teams took advantage of the time they got off during the rest of Americas and we're seeing that in teams like Leviatan. Sentinels isn't a bad team, they just didn't have lots of time to practice especially with JohnQT being stuck in Morroco right before the 100T match. Them also being the Madrid winners gives teams more vods to review. I will admit though they're a pretty sporadic team and can accidentally throw when they shouldn't. But I don't think that's the main problem at hand.

    the most egregious thing is the viper hard nerf.
    i get it, she is a strong agent but theres maps where shes actually necessary and teams have built comps around the viper controller a lot of times. breeze being the biggest instance of that but icebox also. yes harbor is a solution to an extent but vipers biggest strength was defensive premeditation of utility which is not something harbor can do. i can see teams like LOUD suffering the most from this as Less pretty much has been viper only for the past few months.

    • @AoMizu_en
      @AoMizu_en Před 16 dny

      I get what you are saying, but from riot's perspective, it's for the health of the game. same meta will make the game boring so they try to make it so people not use viper as frequently as previous season.
      But then again I think if they want to make this nerf, they need to give the competitive tournament scene a breath of the air before scheduling more leagues. so teams can adjust well with other agents, nerfs and buff. With this competitive schedule not a single team will play consistently and it would just create chaos imo.
      and so my conclusion is it is not agent adjusment issues, it's the schedule issue.

    I honestly contemplating with that take, that riot should stop treat their game like is league, but if they don't balance agent it could impact to the audience. Because the same comp being used again and again could bored the audience.
    And whatever Sentinel has to say, a lose is a lose. But, in a game like this, where every info is a crucial, you also can't deny that a lack of practice is also take a part to their loses. And adapting ingame is not that easy, if every teams only have one strat, sure it might be easy to adapt in under 25 rounds, but that is not the case. This Top tier teams have different variations for every site. Sometimes the other team just have a good day, thats it.

I do not deny them being great, but you have to put together multiple tournaments and duration to be the best imo! I feel as if we do it with individual players calling them best in world or the goat after one good tournament too! I cannot say anything about best teams or best players though since I am a liquid fan for all of their teams for longer than I can remember and have all of their jerseys but still haha

  • @anistocracy
    @anistocracy Před 20 dny +1

    two things I wanna point out: 1)Valorant is really really diffferent because each round due to the abilities and so on can be very random and hence consistency doesn't exist.
    2)Exhaustion is not a reason to start losing so bad after just winning like 1 big event and 1 Mid event. For example in CS2 the current best team FaZe(I am a FaZe CS2 fan) in every single lan event which they have attended they have made it to the finals of each one (8 lans so far. grand finals in each of them, won 4 lost 4) and FaZe have made lower bracket runs in a lot of them but still they keep reaching the grand finals time and time again so that's consistency which the Valorant teams don't have. OFC maybe the format is trash and the game itself is like that but there's no excuse to lose that bad as sentinels are right now.

    • @0Adnin
      @0Adnin Před 19 dny +1

      Well
      Unlike CS2, Agent balance changes meta drastically in valorant. We have some weapon changes here and there but nothing game breaking has happened yet. So Meta wise CS2 doesn't changes a lot unless someone comes with some insane lineup or pocket strat. Reason FaZe can do FaZe things is because they can run X strat 5 event back to back it would probably yield different result on basis whether they were hitting their shots or not. where as in Valorant, 1 agent nerf or buff can complete change how much control that agent holds on the map which sucks to watch.
      Hence I personally love watching CS2 professional scene over Valorant. Good teams are good because they are good not because a certain comp is working for them. Unless you are talking BaitF, That dude was a bad comp. Astralis for the win.

    • @marvinpak5977
      @marvinpak5977 Před 18 dny +2

      1. that is literally what tenz said in the video
      2. Its not only exhaustion. play off teams are grinding non-stop while the unqualifying teams can rest and restructure or work on new strats. By the time they get to the next event the play off teams are straight off of their run whereas the unqialifying teams come in with new strats that they polished
      Your point in CS2 is like you didnt watch the video. CS hasnt recieved many meta changing patches. Valorant recieves meta changing patches even during events making teams constantly practice new strats. CS2 you are right if you are good you are good cuz its not the meta you havbe to adapt too. Same stuff every time.

However, unlike before that teams caught up because Sentinels didn't practice, teams will now catch up because they've built superteams. Superteams take time to build chemistry, and that is obviously the case with LEV and NRG and the others. If Sentinels would like to catch up again, they would have to work hard again. They were just ahead of the curve back then because they were amongst teams who reshuffled their players.

    This comment section is the most peaceful/rational about the SEN situation I've seen. Others I usually see with top comments are, "SEN fans can't cry about not having enough time to adapt to avoid being counter-stratted because other teams have experienced this before and done way better!" That or, "Cope harder, 'insert Valorant Pro name' plays better than the entire SEN team."

    Everyone have excuses for Sentinels, but forgot about Fnatic last year. They won EMEA, won Brazil against prime LOUD, went 2nd in EMEA, won Japan against prime EG, qualified for Champs, and still got in top 4 in Champs, all in 1 year. Now Sentinels can't even get to play off, let alone qualified for Shanghai. If you want to be on top of the world, you can't have excuses for your losses. I think Sentinels lacks the wow factor, like Aspas or Narrate, someone who can make opponents shit their pants just by hearing the name. None of Sentinels players got to top 5 Rating in Madrid. They look good as a whole team tho, but you need more than that to stay on top for a long time.

    The format bro, is just fucking dogshit, if a valorant calendar could have:
    KICKOFF
    Masters 1
    Split 1
    Masters 2
    Split 2
    Masters 3
    LCQ
    Champions
    and both splits have an 8 week round robin and 2 weeks playoffs, the VCT could be just perfect, but once again, Riot can't have a long-ass calendar like this anymore mainly because the length of a calendar like this could overlap with League events, Worlds included, and that's just too much for riot to handle.

    All the people saying that SEN didnt have time to make strats are coping. They had 3 weeks to make strats while playing. The only loss that is excusable is the LEV one. Saving strats vs FURIA and mibr (who look kinda ass, sorry artzin) and then playing against EG (who didnt look ass) and still trying to save strats after the first map lost them the game and everything afterward. Completly their fault.
