So... Since the latest update, Astronium has 500 bytes and lasts 2.5 min (at 200B/min)..., to fix the farm you'll have to reduce the number of count-repeaters at the clock to only 2 count-repeater at 5 activations each. Now the farm is even better, as it produces 200B/min (per module). I hope this helped everyone here..
Does it matter if you place them on top of each other or side by side

Hey ik this is an old design i have chanhed the repeaters to only 2 and 5 counts and the machine stops but then the arm connected to the wires doesnt wanna pick the item up out of the research bench and put it in the container but it keeps raising ?

i've just built this entire farm in survival only to find out it doesn't work anymore
You ate the best,now me and my friend can deal with our byte problems thank you
- For getting astronium as early as possible, start mining in deslo (maybe novus, should be easy). It takes maybe about 30 mins.
- for unlocking all the items necessary for this in the early games, plant some popcoral, popcoral research items can give 200/500/1000 bytes
- Or you can go to glacio, get the black research items which you can find in caves (this method is time-consuming and is relatively easy to do in the mid game), each of them gives about 3940 bytes in 30 mins. Setup four research chambers and you can easily get 16000 bytes

more options:
- bring qt rtg and portable oxygenator, run around glacio caves grabbing all the little scan items (~200 - ~300 bytes per scan thing)
- do the same thing but with tractor and qt rtg instead of portable oxygenator
- bring large rover to glacio and have a large silo type b filled with rtg's, then go to the research pods and collect a ton of them. (add a second and or third rover onto it and have the research stations on it to research as you go)

I think they should add more uses for bytes. After you research everything in the catalogue, they just sort of sit there and pile up. Maybe make it so that you can use them in the trade platform somehow, or use them to upgrade certain items.

Me and my friend started up a world a couple days ago. Last time we played we had a bunch of research items from atrox that were totaling upwards of 60,000 bytes when they would all be scanned. And that was only like six or seven of them. Only reason we didn't get more was backpack space and packager limits.
Yeah there are always too many things to be transported from one planet to the other 😅
Astronium has got to be one of the most abundant resources in astroneer. 99% of the time, if you place an auto extractor over some, the bar will be completely full. And once it runs out, you can shift it over a bit and start again. Or if you're like me, you bring your trusty large rover with a large canister, and completely fill it from a couple patches.
I'm hoping that it gets more use than a simple research item, but I can't think of what you would possibly use it for. Maybe a temporary power source, like if the older versions with the power clumps (Idk what to call them). It could be like a generator, but instead of powering a generator, it IS the power, where you just place it on a platform and it provides a little power in case you need easy power, but the sun doesn't shine, the wind refuses to blow, and there's no organic around. I'd imagine it provides little power in exchange for being so easy to find, maybe like 1U/s. Idk, just a thought.
As for crafting... I got nothing

Yep, I got a astronium to scrap farm, I've taken about 2400 out, and you can barely tell, the smallest adjustment makes it back out

I only have 22 :O I just unlocked medium storage silos and medium rover though plus medium batterys all pretty hefty fees. Time to go to Sylvia’s core and other nodes today though after setting this up! I’m using 4 medium batterys and large windmills for main power! For me the auto arms wont grab the astronium from the research chamber, i know this was a part of an update so is there any alternatives that can fix it?
I do the same thing with research items and use a battery with sensor, oxygenator, rtg, and splitter as a timer (i dont think the battery is very reliable cause sometimes it broke, but it got me 2 mil bytes in about 6 hours)

i was making my farm, the timings were off but i quickily found out how to fix it, but the auto arm wasn't taking the astrounium out from the research chamber, is it like, a bug or something? or it just doesn't work anymore

Easier one to put on Glacio: platform with auto-arm to pick the scannable pieces from a rock in the caves and put it in a chamber on another platform with a couple medium wind generators.
You could even place a clock (proximity repeater on top of a delay repeater) and place it next to a byte rock... But I'm not sure it will get you as many bytes 😊
@@KuyaGameAstroneer Don't even need repeaters, just set it up and the autoarm will grab the byte rocks... pretty sure it respawns before the research chamber finishes up anyways. I have over 300k bytes due to this farm (I think I set mine up with 2 chambers). Instead of wind generators you could also use an RTG or even power connectors to link it to your base.
Atrox has higher research items at core, about 500 per unit
One problem that the machine had was He forgot to tell us to make sure that the medium resource collector for handling the compound should have we should disable the output. Other than that, I found nothing wrong with it

As I’m watching this tutorial I’m thinking about if I want to keep my current system of a single large platform, auto arm, rtg, and research chamber that gets clown hats at 30/bpm, or do I want to spend 2 hours of my life pausing this video every one second to micromanage this system and I realize I screwed up and have to start over and waste another 3 hours to do exact same thing. I think I know which one I’ll choose.
I made my own byte farm by taking your button byte farm from your repeater/button video then i just made a lot of them then i wend to glacio went looking around for sample spawns and them putting them there and turning them on so that they auto research and since the glacio research samples have a byte rate of over 100 bytes and the combo of a lot of them and then all will have to do is just wait and then i have some byte stonks i use this method because taking out and putting it in doesnt work anymore also i look up to you since im still new to astroneer and remember dont put to much pressure on yourself and stay safe

I discovered that the clock doesn't work if you put a hydrazine thruster or a packaged building on it. The roverseat seems to be working though.

In my map I use punpkim sampels and an arm collecting byte samples from bushes and placing them in the camera

So I've got everything working except one small problem. The first auto arm to the right of the research chamber will pick up the astronium, but it wont place it in the research chamber. Is this a bug? I'm currently on update 1.26.
Yeah there's a bug with auto arms, they are working on it.. to have the contraption to working again we need to wait for a patch

I did everything as you (except i modified the timer because of the update ) but the auto arm doesnt grab the astronium out of the research chaber.
It has power, the astronium is in the reach of the auto arm, the research chamer is stopped and the auto arm is on.
Is it a patch or am i doing something wrong?

A nice easy way you can earn bytes early game making nitrogen in atmospheric condenser and then researching it. A full nitrogen container will research for 200 bytes each, but be warned if you have your atmospheric condenser and research station running at the same time, then it will be pretty slow, also you can automate the setup with an auto arm
Sorry for that dumb question but how do I start it? I did everything like you in the video but if I use the button repeater it only starts the clock but not the research chamber.

semi-automatic process:
For anyone attempting to salvage the build after the latest update, which rendered it non-functional, here's what worked for me: I deleted the Delay Repeater on the arm and Research Machine to stop it. Then, I added a Count Repeater set to 2. Attach the start button and the signal from the clock (the one when it's full) to it. Additionally, connect this signal to the storage of the clock to make it stop as well. Now, the machine will halt before depleting the resource, allowing you to manually refresh it.
Why this works (according to my small brain with a case of the big dum):
Partly researched astroneum (and all other resources that can be used for bytes) will have a bytes counter. The astroneum (and only the astroneum) will have its bytes counter reset to 1000 (it's default amount of bytes) when you put it in the resource canister, allowing you to research it infinitely.

Yo little update for anyone still trying to use this, Im pretty sure they made it so Autoarms dont grab stuff out of the Research Chamber anymore. I tried rebuilding this contraption on a new world with a friend of mine and it simply doesnt work anymore, went to an old world where I still had one running and that also didnt work anymore.

Great video! I think I need some advice on how to finish this. I have the clock working perfect. I just can't get the auto arm to shut off. It is stuck in a loop with one pulling from the research chamber and the other from the canister. No matter what I do, it will either go in a loop or it will pull the astronium out of the research chamber and it will turn off before passing over to the canister.

I’m trying to get my 4-research chamber astronium farm to work but it seems to stop once the first round of researching has finished. I have a rover seat on the clock. The clock continues counting down but the chambers have stopped and won’t automatically research the renewed astronium in the chambers.
It only works after I engage the button repeater but I have to do this for each round. Everything else seems to work just fine. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Um I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong, and I’m pretty sure it worked for me earlier, but the second auto arm won’t take it the astronium out of the research chamber. Ive made sure the research chamber is off, and tried changing arms, adding a filter and using a different resource. If I take the research chamber off and just put the astronium on the platform, it works and the arms go back and forth. Does anyone maybe know what’s wrong, and how to fix it?

I'm having a problem with the clock. I have disabled the canister's output.
When I turn the machine on, all 6 filter items empty into the Large Storage. Then they just stay there. They do not go back into the canister, so the clock doesn't work.
Edit: solved it. You HAVE to use a printed rover seat. I used a broken scrap one, and the clock never saw the Large Storage as full because of it.

No clue if anyone will get back to me on this, but my farm isn’t working. Every aspect of it works fine except the auto arm which takes the astronium out of the chamber and puts it into the canister. I think it is because the auto arm cannot pull an item out of a research chamber, regardless of whether it’s on or off. Anyone have a fix?
Unfortunately there's a bug with the auto arms since a couple of months... Hopefully the devs are gonna fix it soon
I almost have 1mil on my main survival world I use 10 research chambers and I get the astronium by using a large rover with a large resource storage and a drill on it then I just drive around in the deepest area's of the planet and fill the storage up...
When its full I come back up park it in a specific spot for the auto arms to collect the astronium and feed it to all 10 research chambers...
When I play my bytes go up passively.

I got tungsten from desolo recently. (I’m new to the game.) and I’m wondering what I should do next. Should I got back to desolo or should I go to a new planet?
You should set up a small little base on desolo in case you need to come back there but don't go to other planets unprepared I reccomand setting up a small base on glacio to as the surface has iron and the caves have titanium 2 of the most used resources used

Go to glacio, it has titanite and hematite, which can be used to make iron and titanium. Iron and titanium are the most useful resources. A useful thing to do before going to glacio is make 2 medium resource canisters and a medium shuttle, that way you can have 34 of each resource on your shuttle.

120,000 bytes, I built one of these farms but bigger and using the 400 mineral storage canister, 8 auto arms, a lot of solar and wind (the big boys), 4 curved large platforms in a circle, 8 medium platforms, and 8 research chambers

I think it was a clip from a preceding design, you can ignore that auto arm. Well done in spotting it 😊
I prefer glacio argon reserch factory instead because of the high wind where wind is better or worse than solar 50/50 and it can also be useful to store them for mass steel production later on

i cant get this to work, and at the end of the video you show a different farm from the one you built during the video, the different farm is running fine and it looks like you have a third repeater item placed in front of the autoarm/research machine area. i dont know what it is but i think its what my farm is missing. you didnt mention it in the construction part of the video though, assistance please?
nevermind, solved it. side note for anyone having this issue. you HAVE to put a rover seat, i put a medium solar just for extra power gen, didnt count it as the the large storage being full, the rover seat for some reason does

You can also use scrap instead of astronium. Just keep in mind that it only takes 2 and 1/2 minutes to research, and it only produces 120 bytes/m, while astronium produces 200 bytes/m.

I solved it differently...I created mobile Auto-Research Stations: Chamber, Auto-Arm and RTG on a large Rover. Then place it at one of the respawning researches, so the Arm can grab and put it into the chamber...Runs forever without maintenance, easy to build and easy to move around...

It seems the Diamond is a better byte source than Astronium. It gives 850 bytes at 340 Bytes per Minute and only takes 2:30, which is the same time as Astronium.

Late to the game, but I got really byte hungry in my current game. I have everything unlocked, but I still have over 250,000 bytes. I just want to see how high this thing will go.
I am new to astroneer, I just built this farm for the first time but it’s not working. The second auto arm is not graving the diamond (I choose diamond because now gives more bytes then astronium) from the research chamber, even though it is inside the green area🥺

Hey Kuya, I don't know if you'll see this and also I don't want to sound rude but I think your six-second clock is a bit off. Because the Storage Sensor sends the signal as soon as the slots are empty, the canister sucks in and dispenses two resource nuggets simultaneously rather than allowing the sixth second to pass, which results in only five seconds passing between each signal. I think because of this, your automatic 24 minute timer actually lasts just 20 minutes.
Again I don't want to be rude because you're the best Astroneer CZcamsr no doubt, I just felt like I should say that because I tried setting up a version of this clock with a canister and a Tall Storage but it kept reaching time long before my external timer would and I couldn't figure out why until I realized the canister took a nugget and dispensed another at the same time and basically erased the third second from every other signal, so I had to adjust my Count Repeaters from a 3/3 (three seconds per signal) format to a 2/3 (alternating two and three seconds per signal) format and it finally worked.
This will probably be a nightmare to read but hopefully it makes sense. Thank you for all the content you make, I've come a long way in the game ever since I first found your videos!

I guess I need to take more time to actually go though it and actually see what you mean, thankfully my contraption allows for some wrong timing, so it should be a problem. This is strange though as after some thorough testing I had consistent results.. also please make sure you are using a river seat, any other piece will mess it up.
