New animated lore documentary series of the Wizards and Warriors channel will focus on the universe of Cosmere as we try to explain what it is and show why Brandon Sanderson's universe is so popular with tales of Mistborn, Stormlight, Elantris, Warbreaker and others which we are planning to tell very soon. In this video we talked about the world of Scadrial and the rise of the Final Empire of the Lord Ruler Rashek, discussed the rebellion of the Mistborn Kelsier assisted by Vin and others, covered the aftermath of the killing of lord ruler Rashek and the events that happened after the Revolution, as Elend Venture took over as the leader and had to juggle various interests, while a number of armies marched against Luthadel. This, in turn, led to the siege of Luthadel, and although our heroes were able to defend their capital, their actions led to the return of Ruin to the world. Beginning of the End of the world was upon them. That is when the real Hero of Ages was able to bring Harmony back to the world.

Bruh 😑
These videos may not make loads of views now but will never not be watched. The most comprehensive source on YT. When the cosmere gets adapted to TV or film, a bump in views will come, everytime, for years.
I don’t get it. You somehow have resources to make a high-effort summary of Mistborn, yet you don’t have them to make your main product, the game, at least semi-interesting.
Hour and 40 minute lore documentary about a series I've never heard of before?
Sign me up!
Did you actually watch the whole thing? Did you get excited to read the books?
Read it!
Read it
Read them all.
it kind of had a 'few' spoilers, though.😂
I feel as if I should correct a few things: Ruin can alter information stored in copperminds, hence why the prophecy being changed was only noticed by Kwaan, who had a photographic memory naturally (and thus no need for copperminds, which store memories for later recall).
Ruin could also alter words written in metal, he simply could not *read* them in order to know what to change, without someone like an Inquisitor to read them for him. This is due to the fact that metal appears to glow brightly to both his and Preservation's sight, due to how their investiture interacts with it, obscuring any words etched upon metal objects.
There were also a few other details that the vid got wrong. Namely kelsier and marsh don’t hate each other, it’s mostly disappointment. Second vins mother killed her sister at the direction of ruin. The ministry later found and killed her mother and brother.
@@konradcasler9197 it also says that the spiritual realm is the afterterlife when it clearly it isn’t
Then explain to me why people return to the Spirit Realm when they die as seen in Secret History. I think you may be thinking of the Cognitive Realm?
@@TryingExtraHard They move on though, so it's just a waiting room.
We don't actually see what happens in the Spiritual Realm at any point in the entire Cosmere so far. The place where Preservation talks to the souls of the dead and helps them pass onwards is the Cognitive Realm.
‘You don’t know what i do for mankind . I was your god, even if you couldn’t see it. By killing me, you have doomed yourselves’ 42:54
These words gave me goosebumps
he could have said something useful, but no, in his last moments he gloated that his killer was doomed. Bad guy the whole time, the storage cashes were a selfish move
@IsaacSchubert right!! Like c'mon dude... I still don't see how they doomed themselves. Like Rashek is the one who genuinely fucked everything up and then cries about having to fix it all. But then what? Was there anything else that you did? No. It was all about control and manipulation and waiting to be able to gather more power.
Unless I'm severely mistaken. Those words also gave me chills when I read them, but afterwards I was like, ok but how. You weren't a God. You were a petulant child who was taken advantage of and misled and who has caused untold damage.
Love this story so so much - I am still reading and learning more, but this video has definitely been a wonderful find to hear how this world meshes in with the grander scheme -- seriously cannot express how much I have enjoyed this. Thank you to the ones who did all the reading and research to put this together in such a great and detailed way!!! And sorry for rambling a bit 😅
@@leanie2972
*Spoiler alert, do not continue if you did not finish the trilogy yet.*
From what my memory holds (it has been years since I've read it) Rashek genuinely cared. He even killed the supposed hero when he realized he was going to release ruin and used the well for the betterment of people instead, only to realize ruin was having none of it and hindered his attempts all the way just like what he did to vin.
The sad part of this story is that Rashek (lord ruler) and Ati (ruin's vessel) were actually good people. If I remember correctly, it was even described how good of a person Ati was right until the shard ruin twisted him into a monstrous god. Rashek was also sad as he was corrupted and twisted by ruin's constant mental prodding and paranoia that the well would not save them this time. It is just a sad state really, they were both trapped in immortal bodies, their original form twisted beyond recognition.
I was actually glad when vin took ati down with her and just feel sorry for lord ruler after reading his warnings.
@@leanie2972 ikr after I finished the last empire I thought I was such a cool line
but after finishing era 1 I realized his selfishness
It really was. A moment. Rashek realized he had made mistakes, and after 1000 years had built on his character. You have to do bad things sometimes for the greater good. He did his best to fight ruin
Era 2 is in my opinion very much underrated and will probably be easier for you guys to cover. Can't wait for other Cosmere lore though !
Agree it's underrated. Disagree easier to cover lol
They had Era 2 ready, but Wayne swapped the video for a cheeto dusted top hat
@@FrediHinz2 *spit take* 🤣
I'll get to it after I finish the Stormlght books written so far. But I'm sceptical it will anywhere near as interesting and as epic as era one.
I don't like Era 2 much. Lore and history might be good but the plot is pretty average. Hence its rated rightfully.
I read the mistborn trilogy as a young man, I'm glad I stumbled across this video! I had no idea there were other books based in the same universe
Everything gains so much more depth when you read the rest of the Cosmere books. In my opinion, if the other books interest you, I would watch a guide on what order you should read them in.
Brandon Sanderson has planned the next like 10-30 books he needs to write :P
Yeah, and Sanderson has planned out enough Cosmere books to keep him busy for another 20-25 years (even accounting for his _insanely_ high writing pace)
Welcome to the Cosmere! You have a wonderful journey ahead of you! Enjoy!
Have you read the Mistborn Era 2 books? So good, especially if you can read Sercret History before you start.
On the note of Straff Venture, you forgot he headed out essentially coked up, hyped on himself only to become that world's likely first literal example of the phrase "Screw you, and the horse you rode in on"
54:55 Elend decided to “venture” lol
Sazed! Such a great character!
My favorite. I love how he goes from brilliant, altruistic advisor to depressed, aimless wanderer without a purpose, to almighty God rebuilding mankind. Such a great arc.
It's a shame these videos aren't making better. They do a lot to explain and simplify a very complex work and world.
It is good but he does get a few things wrong. For instance at around the 31:40 mark he says that Vins father killed her mom and sister. That is false Vins mom killed her sister while under the influence of ruin.
Making what better?
@@johannesstephanusroos4969 Numbers. They get few views in comparison with their other series.
@@JohnnyElRed i don't know, seems like one of their more popular videos lately
@@Dewkage also, the video says that Kelsier died due to being overconfident. When in fact he intentionally died in order to serve as a martyr and further fuel the rebellion.
This was simply beautiful. All the animations etc. I remember diving into this universe as a young teenager and convincing several friends to do the same, theorizing and talking about the stuff we read. This was such a wholesome re-living of these childhood memories, thank you so so much!
Just went through the trilogy for the second time and was amazed by how much I had missed. It’s a very complex plot with many characters and Mr Sanderson makes it very understandable without giving up on his style. Your video was an excellent synopsis/summery of the books with great visuals and iconography that helped to keep it all together. Very well done!
Amazing stuff. Glad to hear anything Mistborn.
I like the metaphysical nature you attribute to the Shards in your animations, it's amazing! Ruin is quite unsettling. It completely embodies how I'd imagine the essence of what the shards are, rather than their "bearers", Ati and Leras.
Thank you for your comment, I am happy that you enjoyed.
Never heard of this series before. Thanks for this.
Every Cosmere fan just smiled without knowing exactly why
What an absolutely incredible video. I feel like this would be included in a $300 collectors edition of the series, such beautiful work
So I never knew about this universe until you lads started doing these documentaries. And now I wait with anticipation for each of these videos. Thank you guys so much 😅
You don’t understand how happy that makes cosmere fans
Well... I can't blame you for loving this... But I strongly advise you to read the books (or listen to the audio book) ! Discovering the magic system and worlbuilding of Sanderson feels exactly like unfolding a thrillers plot!
Besides, nowadays Sanderson is famous enough to have a place in every public library I've been to!
Please go read the books you will not be disappointed. I started with Stormlight archive ave I’ve read every single other book since
READ THE BOOKS
@@ashdude3058 WHAT ALI SAID
A correction about Hemalurgy: It has been confirmed that Hemalurgy can be used to steal _any_ kind of Invested art, not just the metalic ones. A hemalurgist could use theoretically use a spike to steal the Divine Breath from a Returned on Nalthis. There are limitations, though, and there are some things that hemalurgy _cannot_ be used to steal.
This is really good stuff. I can't wait to hear the 4 hour video of Stormlight era 1.
Phenomenal video.
Please keep making these
I did not expect a lesson in fantasy physics, but here i am
This information is GOLD for everyone with a small hint of a scholar mind and a love for the fantasy lore of the series. Thank you so much for breaking down so well and animating it! Keep on the great work. Please!
This is just TOO good. Please, please, please, do one on the wheel of time. I've stopped reading years ago in book 6 and have no stamina to read again.
Audio book the rest it’s worth it
Truly facinating. I've been reading Sanderson books for years and had no idea everything was so interconected. Ha! Good stuff.
Thanks for this video! It's been years since reading era 1. I'm about to start Alloy of Law and this provided a fantastic refresher of the first three books. Much appreciated!
This was an amazing documentary. Very well done. Please continue on withe the Cosmere series. A Stormlight Archive series would be amazing!
this was the perfect simplified synopsis of sandersons mistborn series
I just finished words of radiance ...so far 2 books into the Stormlight archives it is the best experience I've ever had.mistborn trilogy was great but Stormlight is another level
Imagine this videos but about stormlight, 5 hours of pure hype
"We're going to do what Kelsier taught us, Vin. We're going to survive."
- Elend Venture, to Vin, the only two characters of the remaining central cast (Kell's crew, major allies/enemies) to not survive.
Edit: since people seem not to be able to understand the word "remaining", perhaps I should clarify: when Elend made this comment, at the end of WoA, Clubs, Yeden, Dox, Tindwyl, Straff, Zane, and OreSeur were already dead, and therefore would not be considered part of the remaining central cast. By central cast, I am referring to Vin, El, Spook, Saze, Ham, Marsh, Demoux, TenSoon, Alrianne and later Beldre, Yomen and Cett. Of these major characters, only Vin and Elend do not survive the Battle of Hathsin, and the subsequent Catacendre. Saze becomes a Shard, or for intensive purposes, a literal God, but he still lives on. Marsh lives as well, and Demoux becomes a worldhopper. Kell kinda lives, but the word "kinda" is doing a fair bit of heavy lifting, but yeah, the Survivor lives. Everyone else dies of old age at some point down the line, obviously before AoL (presumably, though Spook's fate is unknown). Stop saying stuff about Dockson and Clubs and OreSeur, they were already dead at this point in time. And Ati and Leras don't count, because they are Shards of Adonalsium.
Dox and clubs would like a word with you
This isn't true lol.
They decide Rest, They don't like come back to life.
“Am I a fucking joke to you?” -Dox, Clubs, Yeden and Oreseur in unison
@@conmanreloaded4249 _sigh_
I specifically said "remaining"
Remaining meaning being alive at the time of that comment by Elend, which was following all of the aforementioned deaths.
This was an incredible recap! I'm about to jump back into Mistborn Era 2 after taking a years-long accidental break and this is gonna make life much easier. Hope to see even more Brando Sando content.
I thought that this was a brilliant and beautiful summary of the mistborn trilogy, with phenomonal background from other parts of the cosmere. I nit-picked a couple of tiny details that I would have stated differently (or were subtly incorrect), but it was overwhelmingly a work of thourough research and honoring presentation. I look forward to seeing what else comes from this channel!
Bravo! That was incredibly well done! The breakdown and summary of Sanderson’s beautifully crafted Universe was simply amazing! Keep up the GREAT work. I’m so happy to find there are others out there who not only appreciate the Cosmere but you’ve found a way to pay tribute to it as well! This video shows you’re understanding of the Cosmere is second to none but you also make badass videos!
I hope you'll cover mistborn - secret history at some point 👀
More people really should know about this setting.
I've wanted this video for years. So glad I randomly got your video/channel recommended to me by CZcams! Definitely subscribed!
It’s obvious that and enormous amount of time went into this. Kudos to you all! Easiest sub ever.
Thank you. I wish there were so well made documentaries for other series too.
Another correction, when they talk about the shattering of Adonalsium, they mention that each of the 16 individuals involved became the vessel of a shard. However, Hoid was one of the conspirators and rejected his opportunity to become a vessel.
Awesome video, I hope you're planning to make Stormlight Archive lore too!
This was an excellent summary of Mistborn Era 1! I was curious if you would have included Secret History or not. Future video?
The map at 25:27 has the well of ascension and luthadel in different places. Luthadel was build over the well of ascension, so the lord ruler could keep a close eye on it
I think it was a mixup between the old map (Before the lord ruler) and the new one (after lord ruler changed the world )
Seeing as this is setting up lore for era 1, the historical location that was known to the world was in the North, it wasn't until the end of book 2 that they learn it's under Luthadel. So for lore purposes, map checks out, even if its incorrect to our current knowledge
@@mcdcurtis book 2 is in era 1.
This has been one of the best videos I've ever came across!!!!
Minor correction. Around minute 30 it’s mentioned that Vins sister was killed by her father. The sister was actually killed by her mother.
Minor change that has some pretty significant plot ramifications down the line.
Overall though, a good history with massively impressive visuals.
Wow, what a GREAT video, must have been a lot of work, liked, subscribed, can't wait for more
I've really enjoyed watching the Mistborn lore videos. I look forward to more of the Cosmere worlds and other fantasy and science-fiction videos in the future. Someday I might read one of Sanderson's books.
Also anime/manga has many opportunities for new lore series that could be made.
If you're a fan of anime/manga i highly suggest you check out Stormlight, it's basically high fantasy anime without the drawings xD
@@EnrageD420 Sounds like it would be better done with an animated adaptation over live action. Also some of the Mistborn scenes sound and look like they came from anime/manga.
@@richardthomas9497 Funny enough, Sanderson has mentioned a long form animated series would be better some of his writings. I really hope it ends up being that way. He has weighed that if Mistborn specifically would be put into films(s), he may have to rewrite an adaptation with a modicum of the original story.
I am actually quite surprised that I had an easier time getting into era 2 vs era 1. I fell instantly in love with Wax and Wayne and I am now halfway through shadows of self.
This was my experience as well. Era 2 is 🤩🤩🤩
I'm having the opposite effect, Wax and Wayne are very meh, however I really like Steris for some reason. They might grow on me, im just starting shadows now and im actually digging it so far.
Didnt like era 1 very much (book 1 was good, 2&3 were pretty meh and felt like wasted potential). Hopefully era 2 gets better
I am the same way, most people rate Era 1 above Era 2. I myself found Era 1 to be very rough, I had to push myself to finish them (though the payoff in Book 3 was awesome, I hated Book 2, and had to really push myself in Book 1).
Era 2 however, was much more enjoyable to me overall. I think one of the reasons were that I didn't like any of the Era 1 characters (except for Sazed)
I think era 1 is better however era 2 is a lot more digestible and easy to get into
So happy you made this. Love Mistborn. You make a great channel :)
I hope this means stormlight is next, and u won’t be diving straight into mistborn era 2 🤞🏾🤞🏾
Aw sweet! Can’t wait for this!
So while I was watching your video, the bedtime mode on my phone got activated and it turned all your animation to grayscale. I had no idea that it was on and I watched the whole video like that just in awe of your skill in putting all that work into grayscale animation.
Bon apetite. :)
This video is amazing. I just finished the first Mistborn trilogy but had missed some important details. So this was supper helpful.
Thanks for putting so much effort and building great visualizations and explaining the story well
I love the sneaky addition of Survival.... looking forward 17th Shard discussing if that'd be the last one
Thank you for not dramatizing the tragic deaths at the end of this story. I'm still traumatized almost a decade later
Wow. This video was so beautifully done. The narration, the quotes, a lot of thought was put into this. Asides the innacuracies on Vin's father killing her mother and sister, this was reallly goood!
Wow, what an amazing video. Kudos to the team that put this together!
If you keep this up you are sure to become my favorite CZcams Channel. Thank you so much for this video
This is the best ever thing i have come across, please make more
Wow, this is a damn good video. I was just looking for a recap of some books I read years ago and this did that and more! Good on you!
Awesome video!!! If only this format - you covered Dune…..a man like myself can only dream 😂
What an amazing documentary u guys made, absolutely love it. ✨🔥
As much as I would love to see Stormlight Archive on this chanell (like few comments there mentioned), I do not think it is a good idea to start such videos before at least 5th book is out. Wizard and Warriors are great in chronics format, while Sanderson never reveals his world(s) history in chronological order. Video on Stormlight would probably have to start with First Desolation or Odium's war with Honor and we still have much to learn about those events. I mean there are still many unanswered questions about Gavilar's assasination - EVENT FROM THE FRICKING PROLOG 😅
As for this video - great recap! I found new motivation to finally dive in Lost Metal
prolougue to stormlight 5 is available for free online from brandon himself, answers most questions
Start to finish loved it. Great summary of the books!
This is a fantastic overview, and I'm only 10min into the entire video! It brings a lot of clarity and vision to Brandon's world. I'm curious what he would think of this. Bravo guys. You have a new fan here.
Love how this is portrayed! Thank for all the effort here :)
Been a few years since I’ve read the books but when you started talking about Kelsier’s gang it felt like being reunited with old friends there for a bit
This was a great summary and very well illustrated and annotated.
First Law next?
Just discovered this channel, what a treat!
What an brilliant epic. Let me just say that, in equal measure to this adventurous and fantastic tale, is your dedication to delivering amazing stories with a visual spectacle that beautifully illustrates and communicates so well the ideas and concepts, it's almost as good at conveying them as your narrator - whom by the way really delivers the style of a documentary clearly, and precisely, as well as tactfully and reminds of the best such documentaries that the History Channel would do on "Antiquity".
It reminds be of the brilliance and like-minded writing in the "Sword of Truth" series by Terry Goodkind, with equal parts of unpredictable revelations and twists, romance and war, but also philosophically inspiring. You guys should should absolutely honor Terry Goodkind's passing with a similar serious.
Awesome video! Hope to see Stormlight Archive in the future!
EXCELLENT summary of this first book. Looking forward to more!
So we'll done. Have read all of the cosmere like 3 or 4x now and it's great to get such a compact reminder of events keep it up
You sir, are a hero! This video is fantastic!
Just a note it wasn't sixteen people who planned the shattering it was 17 (that we know of) as Hoid has been confirmed to have helped shatter Adonsium but he didn't take a shard.
However Hoid didn't directly kill Adonsium and only the sixteen would be shard holders directly killed Adonsium
Additionally even the "good" shards became problems for example Honour stopped acting about the oath or code of honour and more about that it was held hence an oath to kill children would be seen as equal to one to protect children on Honours eyes. Similarly Preservation liked the Lord Ruler as he kept society in basically the same state and due to this Preservation didn't care about how tyrannical his rule was. The only reason preservation helped Vin kill the LR was because preservation foresaw that that would lead to ruins death.
This video is absolutely fantastic!! I'm rereading the entire mistborn series for the third time and this video is spot on what I was looking for. I hope you do one on the 2nd age, too.
Thank you very much for this. Had no idea the extent of this universe. Fun to revisit the mistborn series. Look forward to the future.
Can't wait to Second Era!
Great work on this video! Congrats!
This video is essential! Thank you 🫶🏾
Amazing work!
This was awesome!
20:19
Sazed believes Rashek was inherently a good man, and tried his best - although he believed that his power entitled him to rule, and, well, the Final Empire. He did *try* though...
You can, apparently, really tell that he was holding Preservation's power, as he was constantly trying to keep and make up for the damage he had caused.
And then Ruin made everything worse, to the point where Rashek didn't trust himself - and considering what other experience we have with Hemalurgy, Ruin in Rashek's head probably just degenerated into "hey, you should kill them. Kill him. Oh, you see her? You should kill her! And them!" ... etc.
Which I can't imagine is particularly good for one's sanity, especially if that lasts for centuries.
Incredible. Great work!
Love love love this. Please keep covering the cosmere
I just finished rereading final empire! Now I found this! Wow
I love how fumbling Rashek come off when he takes up the power.

Yep, more in the works
This is very good. Thank you.

I've read the mistborn books & the stormlight. My gosh Brandon Sanderson is a great writer... sheesh..
This was an immense video! I have been hoping to find a good recap and explanation and this was top draw. Plus all the art and animation put in. Top draw 🤌
Would love to see the storm light archive done in a similar way
This is me engaging with your quality content.

Love this! It'll be super helpful when catching up again in the future. I love the amount of effort put into it! Quick suggestion though: the characters do have canonical name pronunciations. You should listen to the audiobooks so you can include them!
Started listening to the first books audiobook a week ago. Interesting world and action so far. I'll have to postpone watching this video until I finish all series tho since I don't want any spoilers 😅
But great job nevertheless 👏
Don't Google *anything* lol
How far have you gotten? Are you liking them?
Also, @ReaderReborn is right… it’s just about impossible to google anything in the cosmere without getting spoilers.
