- Christmas Celebration @Bow Barracks, Kolkata With Anglo-Indian Community
Bow Barrack, a traditional Anglo-Indian quarters of Kolkata, celebrates Christmas in special way. It is nothing compared to Park Street, a favorite destination for merry makers in Kolkata. The Christmas or Bow Fest is a week long celebration starting from day before Christmas and ending in wee hours of the new year.

To they all are Indian
Yes,of course.Have you watched the movie'Bow Barracks Forever'
Anglo Indians who remained in India are almost unrecognizable from other Indians. They had to change. English is a foreign language and western clothing (for women) is unheard of. The people who remain, had to adjust to their surroundings. I remember returning a few years back and was horrified by the change. Others might think differently!
😱 we are zoomed in this video!

We have lost the originality of Christmas celebration. It's more like a night club or punk metal concert now with vulgar dances and drunk chaps. This is not how Christmas should be celebrated.
I suppose this is a pre-christmas party.
Much of the historical aspects of Kolkata is related with death to Bhagat Singh
I hope Bengal will rise
No. It is related to British.
What the hack are you saying
Rise to what
First up Bengal never had any damn relationship with Bhagat Singh.Bhagat Singh had influence only over the west of India.
2ndly If you re talking about Liberals and freedom Fighters from bengal,You will of course get a load of Bhagat singh here but A Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose has never been formed and will never be in any other part of India other than Bengal.
And 3rdly,the video is about those Anglo Indian of Brits descend residing in Barrackpore in Bengal.Bengal always had an Western Touch in it be it before or after Independence.I Wish I could meet those people someday.Apart from them,There re people from Italians(One of my uncle went on a tour over there and I heard from him that there's a famous pizza Shop owned by a Man from italian descend) and French ancestry too in some part of Bengal.
Interesting I must say. Not a single word uttered about why we celebrate this day and who is the Central attraction of the day for whom this day is celebrated ? I doubt what denomination of faith they belong to where truth is not prevalent.
Christmas day is Christmas day & is celebrated on Christmas day. This is a street party during the Season of Christmas. AI's Angelo's or Anglo Indians, are famous for their love of parties & community & music & dance, & are often quite famous in the entertainment industry, such as Juliet Prowse, Englebert Humperdink, Cliff Richard, even little miss Scarlett O'Hara Vivienne Leigh was I believe born in India. Not to mention all the others like hockey, jockey The Durrell's, etc.. This is not like Western countries where Christmas is only cebrated on 25Dec, & where one doesn't have get togethers in the same communal way. In Calcutta Kolkatta where I was born but left 60 yrs ago, one has a family subdued day of lunch & visits to community to wish them Merry Christmas on the day, usually after attending Midnight Mass the night before The rest of Dec is the Season of looking forward to & being happy with each other & jovial, coming together in harmony & Com-Unity of a sharing & compassionate spirit. Notice nobody is rolling around drunk here, & it is all inclusive of kids & elders & elderly. Research Sir before airing your grievance. It's a time of Joy To The World & happiness (you know the reason) not a time of dull expression without thinking it through. Now you can thank me. But no need to bother with any BS reply.
Everybody knows why Christmas is celebrated and also the fact that Jesus was not born in 25th December, stop useless comments here
