But calling something a genocide is a whole other level, that is just slaughter of people with the single goal of erasing a culture or race. And as far as we have seen the news, it does not seems to be a genocide but rather a conflict.
However people are easily riled up behind the idea that the whole conflict is a genocide, driven by emotions, seeing only 1 side of the conflict and not able to review the conflict in an objective view for what it really is, a conflict between Israel and Hamas with innocent people in the middle.

Very few moderate nationalist ideologies support changing demographics. When an ideology wants to do that, it becomes ultranationalist, arguably settler colonialist, as the guy above me points out. Hence, Zionism cannot be equated to, say, 19th century German nationalism
