That Leopard hauling the Tiger gave off strong "come on grandpa" vibes and I'm all here for it!
Amazing to see such a comprehensive rebuild! Another piece of history brought back from ashes like a Phoenix!
Nice
exactly what went through my mind. taking grandpa out for a stroll.
Speaking of German grandpa my grandpa was a German veteran and at the time he was a leader of a country but lost the war
@@-.Springtrap.- Now hang your head.
Now imagine your breaking into a workshop and you see a tiger tank
I’m sure that there won’t be an hour’s worth of anything on TV as interesting as this tonight. Thanks chaps. 👍🏻🇬🇧
I agree :) I collect ww2 & newer 1:16 tanks I like the camo on this one... I did the camo on my walker bulldog & showed the seller & they loved it ... Might copy that tiger's camo on mine :) .. they did a brilliant job of it :)
Do you watch tele? I gave that up a long time ago.
Pretty sure you are right.
Agree 100%! I never knew I was interested in Tiger tank restoration, but this was really captivating... Well done (on the restoration and the video)!
Just watching these chaps working on getting the wheels in working order explains to me why a lot of the tank crews abandoned these tanks on the battlefield. VERY intricate design to be working on when you’re being shot at.
Yooo the new 1/1 tamiya kit looks sick
😂
$39.95?
Lol
That is amazing.. A Tiger Tank that built by Henschel in Kassel, only a few Kilometers far from my Hometown. A lot of Men from our Village work at the Henschel Factory. And now it was restorated in Australia, on the other Side of the Planet... And these Aussie Guys made a Great Job... Greets from Germany..
Henschel also made quite a name in the railway engineering business, starting back in the glory days of steam and continuing to modern times. An interesting company..

There's something excellent about watching a Tiger tank get assembled and sorted, while listening to great classical music. Thanks guys!
I would have liked some old rock
You reminded me that scene from the movie T-34 where they are testing the tank and Tsaikofsky Swan Lake plays in the background
pitty theres no engine in it would be the finished article
country music not classical XD
Um Chopin possibly a little inappropriate, have you guys not seen the film about wladyslaw szpilman the Polish pianist.
Symbolic and fitting that the younger Leopard carried its elder Tiger out into the sunshine again.
What did you do today?
Oh, I reverse parked a Tiger Tank using a Leopard 😂
the history segment at 47:00 gave me chills, the lad reading out of the history book then realizing he's sitting right where it all happened.. beautiful stuff, amazing work
At the End the scene where the younger Brother helps his Older Brother is just lovely to see
OMG!!!!! Germany should give you HUGE thanks for the love and respect you are giving one of their historical war machines! I don't know why but watching this is so emotional for me for so many reasons.
Most Germans would scorn you for fixing this tank up.
@@justforever96 Those german war machines were studied and their technology used in America and Russia, much of their hardware was used even after WW2 in places like the middle east. Great German engineering showed by the creation of these beasts even if they were used in an evil war. Skilled men in arms died for their country fighting in them. Their war exploits will be talked about for eons. JMHO!
@@justforever96not saying the Nazis were good in any capacity, but their scientists, technology ect was used to create many things we take for granted today.

A great reminder of all the tiger action and how damaged that heavy armour plate was. Makes you feel sorry for the poor souls that were in it at the time, no matter what side they were on.
So true.
But one the bright side most of them had to get scuttled because of breakdowns ,lack of fuel and other things that plagued those over built machines.
What talent. A small miracle, guys, you's deserve the iron cross with oak leaves.
Herr Michael Whitman is looking on and nodding...
Ritterkreuz...or knights cross would come with the oak leaves not the iron cross.... stay safe Gerry 😃
@@joelbruno717 Right... If I recall correctly, Oak leaves was given in silver (with Knights cross); and as the highest award with diamonds set in silver. BUT, I dont know if diamonds came with gold oak leaves, or if there was gold oakleave only offered. Do you? I know only person to have received Knights Cross with Oak Leaves and Diamonds was Field Marshall of the Luftwaffer. I think that was in a silver setting. Highest award that was actually awarded. If there was a gold oak leaves and Knight Cross or gold oak leaves with diamonds and Knight Cross I don't think it was ever awarded.
@@143AD hey Marc...I'm don't know anything about the about the colors of the leaves...I'm just confident in the fact that not to many German military personnel received the knights cross. Thank you guys for all the hard graft restoring this masterpiece...
You guys rock...
Dude needed the terminator killing press to fix it! Maaan...!
Love the work you did on this tank. I just finished reading "Tigers in the mud" by Otto carius. It's about the 502 heavy panzer battalion in Latvia and Lithuania in 1944. This particular tiger tank must have been part of 1st company of the 502.
It was a worth while read.
Checkout Panzer Ace. Memoirs of an Iron cross commander from Barbarossa to Normandy.
Fantastic read about the actions the 503 heavy tank battalion were involved in during the war.
I met him about 2 weeks before his death. He was very kind. He even gave me a free English version of his book and several copy's of pictures of him (it wasnt signed, but it was a copy of a signed version by him, so technically still signed i guess) He dident had to do that, but he did anyway with a smile. His shop is called : Tiger Apotheke (after his Tiger tank and it means : Tiger Pharmacy.) In Herschweiler-Pettersheim, Germany.
The part about the Ruhr pocket made me sad, so many brave men on both sides died over a war which was over apart from the actual surrender.
That’s one of my favorite books.
Incredible. The original crew are applauding you guys. What a finished piece. Mark

Big congrats and much respect guys
They bought most of the original parts from the Polish restoration team. These were collected and fitted one to the other for years. Both Jagdpanter and Tiger were taken from owners. The fcuking gives said "you can sell it to our friends, we take the money you don't go to jail" All paperwork and legal issues were 120% covered. But hey, your govs are a fcucking scumbags! Next thing was the already restored Hetzer. They were not able to take it due to high weight. Police said best would be chopping the thing into pieces with plasma cutter(they did not said cut it with plasma cutter they are too fcuking duimb for such extraordinary words and technologies. Wanted to cut it on spot with angle grinders (what world has done to get cursed with such idiots, and these were officers!) and drag to a "museum"
It's so amazing that people put in hard work and tremendous effort to restore this awesome piece of engineering just for history, just because they can and are passionate about it.
Thanks for that, there are not much Tigers in this condition available. Respect! Greetings from Germany!

Hello, Great video! I had the opportunity to get a tour of a this guys personal tank and military collection. He owned and restored a bunch of tanks housed in 4 warehouses at his residence. I understand the Tiger Tank was his favorite and hardest to get. I was super lucky to see all the amazing tanks before he passed away. He had the largest privately owned military vehicle collection in the world. The other thing that was really awesome about it was the tour guides dressed in war time outfits and knew every detail about each tank we were shown. He even had a Skud missile launcher! He was a really great person for letting the general public come and see his passion for tanks and military vehicles.

Even after 80 years of technical progress, this Tiger 1 tank still impresses by his massive presence and the aura of physical enforcement together with some kind of majesty which transpire, reaching our imagination. Impressive work you have done to rebuild this engin from scratch. Nevertheless, we should keep in mind that it is a killing machine, built to serve an despictable ideology.

I have seen footage of a Tiger 1 as a range target and a British 17pdr going through like butter. It is amazing what you are doing to restore these jewels of history! The part about the young man killed in that tank hit home the human side that is the true tragedy of war!
The work on this Tiger Tank is nothing short of amazing.
I would have given my right arm to say I helped ...ummm, to make the coffee!?
It does hit your heart when you're reminded that's not just huge pieces of metal etc. But men lived and died in these machines. And in particular that tank a man died in it. Yes he was the enemy at the time, but they still had a mother, father possibly a wife and kids.
Reminds of the terribleness of war.

You guys have brought back a piece of history. Was state of the art in 1940. And one of the best tanks of the war.
I hope you meant to say "the 1940s" since this tank entered production in 1942, not 1940. Also, best tanks? Really?
@@EneTheGene well with all the hard factors it would easily be the best but then arrives the soft factors some its good in other tho... but the gun was easily state of the art through out most if the war
@@medical_tomato1206 I mostly think that the tiger(s) were a mistake due to the production cost/difficulties, coupled with how tanks are often lost without contributing much.
What I mean is that a tiger is great in battle, and has the potential to destroy several enemies before itself getting destroyed, but it could just as well just get penetrated in the side, or by simply a big gun from the front, or it could be bombed, or it could just break down and have to be abandoned.
Just focussing efforts on producing panzer 4s and cheaper tank destroyers would have probably made more sense.
My comment may have been a bit rambly, sorry about that :D
I can only imagine how hard getting parts for this would be. I had a discussion with a team who restore tanks in Europe for a museum collection, they are currently restoring a Panther lost on the Western Front, according to him the Russians have a near complete monopoly on the market making finding original parts very difficult. So kudos to your team, the tank looks amazing.
The Russians are probably getting a few out of storage to replace the T72s in Ukraine!
Can't the pieces done in an artisanal way? Schematics exist, it would probably be less expenssive than trying to find original parts.

They are 63 Tonnes! Frontal armour is 103mm thick. Nothing could stop them. Sherman round bounced off, even at 300 meters! One of these could finsish an entire Batallion single handely, and many did. A handful wiped out an entire army of American tanks in Africa.

That was an incredible video diary of the Tiger restoration. Thank you very much for taking the time to edit and produce it. I look forward to seeing the finished item run. With that in mind. How about a race with Tiger 131. No need for them to travel far, with modern video technology. Just time them over a set distance on flat ground and display both feeds at once with a timer.
As much as I like the Panzer IV, (It's my favourite German tank.) There is something very special about the Tiger 1. It's an intimidating lump of Teutonic metal, which must have terrified anyone in it's path. Especially if they had an appreciation of what that 88mm canon was capable of doing to any allied vehicle it cared to shoot at, regardless of range.
I imagine the panzer troops changed tool mountings to suit what they needed to carry and what was available to them during the war. There is documented evidence to suggest that experienced crews had much leeway when it came to field modifications, repairs and "making do." I bet they lavished care and attention on their rusty steed. I know I would.
