On this edition, we look at the Kankakee St. crossing in Wilmington, IL on the UP Joliet Sub. This has seen a somewhat odd transition from GRS signals installed by the GM&O to an unfinished quad gated setup.

I used to live a few blocks away from this spot There is a creek that my friends and I used to fish in as small boys. I would ride my bike over this crossing many times when I was in 5 th grade. Oh the fond memories!

1:17 BTW There is now 1 Accident at the Crossing involved back in August of 2022 with a Amtrak Train struck and killed a Pedestrian.

The project was halted for a long time due to funds. However, they actually did recently finish it. It's fully quad gated with pedestrian gates now.
