- My review and thoughts on my 98 mk1 Suzuki Bandit 1200n after roughly 6 months and 2500 miles .
Beautiful sunny spring afternoon spin from Knockvicer along the Ardcarne rd , n4 and Boyle town Co. Roscommon .
Bike started missfiring and stumbling badly towards the end but I was able to limp home 3 cylindered , sometimes 2 .
Diagnosed later as plugs fouling due to non functioning TPS . Cured with new plugs and Throttle Position Sensor .

Loved it, I still rate it 100% now.

Nice! I'm in the midst of restoring my '97 1200 Bandit N, I really did ride it into the ground, poor thing, However, it's on the road to a new lease of life now, and I'm enjoying taking it apart. I do miss riding it, they're so raw, no electrickery masking things up, and that torque...
Mine is a 96 S model. Same issue with basically resurrecting it after buying. I loved every minute of the rebirth process. That was 6 years and 38,000km ago, and still got it and maintaining/tinkering, despite two other new bikes in the meanwhile (the hop on and ride sort lol). A real diamond in the rough, but makes me smile very wide. Its one of those bikes, the ones where you ride an engine, that also has a place for fuel, a place to sit, and a place to hang on. :-)
Haha yeah definitely just an engine and a seat and it's all you need, I've already put 3000 miles of slimy Irish winter on mine and loving every single mile on it, its my only transport so getting plenty of tinkering and maintenance time. Massive grin factor 😁

Hi just subed . Where do you live . I have just bought a 1200 Bandit 1993 mint condition with only 20000 miles on the clock . I am the same as you i have over 40 years riding . I raced for 10 years and live in County Galway . I owned a 1200 8 years ago and sold it . Big mistake . Cheap fast fun . I am going to tune my bike as i am used to big high performance bikes . Got myself an '08 650 and enjoyed that for 2 years after jumping from a 125 I'd been riding for many years. Definitely a jump in power but I don't like the fuel injection and looking for more torque. The throttle is very on/off at low revs and you don't get that with carbs. Yeah you needa clean/rebuild/sync carbs now and then and while it's not trivial, it's not so user-unfriendly that you need a computer just to turn up the idle. I may only be 26 but these bikes are just something else. They're right up my alley and tbh I'm gonna sell my 650 and look for a '97 B12 in Europe and import it back to Ireland. Would be poetic to have my favourite bike being made the same years as the rider was born. Shame bout the breakdown but least you got it sorted!
Love the color. Bought my 03 Bandit 12 for $900 as a spray can beater stunt bike. Restored it to a show piece with a candy orange paint job! Bandits are the best
I miss my old 1200 from 98 Mk1. I've had bigger Posher bikes but I'm a Bandit man through and through.

best bike for money overall, i have b12 mk1, and one other bike, but i decided i will never sell it, it just does everything, and when you switch to comfy seat 700km is not a big deal at all.

@@emeraldbandit1200 cheers buddy, I've had mine for a long time since 2006, it was my dad's originally I had a black 97 b12 which I sold to get a 96 fireblade. I had my sports bike itch that I had to scratch, my dad stopped riding due to his health almost sold it a few times but so glad I didn't, got her back on the road 3 years ago.
