I know a lot of people ship Lyds and Beej but I could never see it and always saw BJ as like an overprotective brother during this ep and a few others. xD
I've only seen clips of various episodes of the show (This cartoon was before my time and I only discovered it, like, a couple of weeks ago because I fell down the rabbit hole that is the musical), but this rendition of Beetlejuice is like that one uncle you have who never got married or had kids of his own, so he'll take his one niece/nephew on adventures because they're the one person in the family that puts up with his bullshit and likes all of his dad jokes

I still kind of wish they had later made someone FOR Prince Vince. I mean, jeez, I may ship Beej and his Babes, but on the other hand, I am also generally a Tim Burton fanatic and I really love Vincent... HE DESERVED SOME LOVE TOO.
It sucks that they cut the very last part of dialogue out of the episode in this video because it was a beautiful lesson about how the friend zone doesn't actually exist if you want to see your love interest as a friend and not just a romantic object of your (romantic) desire. Really good dialogue teaches people how to handle these situations with grace instead of just crying "friend zooooned agaiiiiin"

On looks there is definitely a correlation between the musician, if you look at pictures of Prince from 1989 (when the cartoon was first made) his appearance is uncanny. High cheekbones, long hair, his height (Prince is famous for being rather short). Tim Burton also did work on the Batman movie from 1989, which Prince wrote music for. Also the other episode he appeared in, where he becomes a rock star. Vincent Van Dort from Corpse Bride was probably inspired by Prince Vince, as that movie came years later.
