Honestly if joe hart had completely failed to touch the ball, i think he wouldn't have gotten the criticism he got. It's because of how slow the ball became after hart got a touch on it which made it look like it should've been an easy save

Can't really blame robinson there, sure he could/should have controlled it with his foot first but yeah, can't really expect the ball to hit a bobble and bounce over your foot. Seamen was basically taken off guard, no one would shoot from that range and angle but yeah ronaldhino. The rest are just shit mistakes because they are shit keepers.
Agree on the Robinson one. The bad thing is - England will face problems with Goalkeepers for years to come. All these bad moments will lead to young players not wanting to play as keepers in their young age and their coaches will just put the worst field-players in that position, while in Germany, Italy or Spain talented young players will actually fancy the perspective to be a goalkeeper as they have role models to look up to. I love England, but I'd be very surprised to see them win a wc or even ec-title as long as live, as that position is so vital to a complete team.
Believe it or not, this is the first comment I've seen defending Robinson. The rest are hate comments about how Robinson miskicked the ball. They seem to forget the fact that the ball bounced over his foot.

Joe Hart's mishap looks bad. I wonder, though, how many goalkeepers at that tournament would have been able to get as close to save the ball as he did, The dive was really fast and a great display of short reaction-time. Just a bit weak hands unfortunately.
To this day idk why people blame Hart, im a keeper myself think saving that shot is easy try it. He had great reaction time but no luck. And that deffense is terrible lmao. Hard to be a eng keeper. U praised Pickford lets just w8 untill he makes a mistake or allow a unlucky goal

Those kind of shots Ronaldinho did are masterclass and no goalie can save them. Given the audience perspective, the shoot looks a bit slow, but the keeper gets ready only for a fraction of second to stop it and never expects or has any power to follow that kind of curvature. It wasn't at all a mistake by Seaman.

If you look closely, Seaman takes a step forward while the ball is way on it's trail, which is odd and took him of any chance to get a hand on it.
It's not odd, Ronaldinho went for goal whereas most players would cross it in. He was caught out

One of the main reasons for England underperforming in major championships is substandard goalkeeping in contradistinction to Germany who always has solid keepers.

@@magdalenavp824 Oliver Kahn was a monster. Just because he made a mistake in the final doesn't mean he was bad the entire tournament. He was one of the main reasons why they even went to the final since Germany's defence was kind of bad. He also won the golden ball and he's the only keeper in the entire history of world cup to won it. Plus, compared to all the shite English keepers from this video, Oliver Kahn is a constant beast throughout his career until he retired.
One of the greatest mysteries of England goalkeepers would be how good they are in the training. I have studied those videos published by the FA and they looked excellent in practice sessions. Wonder why couldn't they extend that form...maybe it's all about mental qualities? I admit it is an essential element.

Realistically any goalkeeper will know Joe Hart’s was not really a mistake. Some of the hardest shots for goalkeepers is saving the shots right under the arm like that, especially within close proximity. Nothing to blame on that. Maybe just a stronger hand

What confused me, was how high England was on that bum, Joe Hart. His lateral movement was so slow. Fire a hard 2 or 3 feet outside his foot and all he could do was try to fall on it. In the champions league, Napoli knew the secret he tried to camouflage, and it was like shooting fish in a barrell. The just move the ball to the front center and took every possible shot at Hart and everything flew by his feet all in arms length!!!

Ironically, an actual Nigel (Nigel Martyn) was our best choice for years but managers were obliged to choose big slow David Seaman because he played for a London team.

To those of you defending Seaman.... it was a mistake on his part. You can’t be the number one goalie in a knockout game at a World Cup and get scored on from that angle, from that distance. He was flat-footed. He should have bent his legs more and leapt up and knocked the ball over the crossbar. I understand that it very well could have been a fluke goal by Ronaldinho and that Seaman was expecting a cross not a shot, but come on people, it was a terrible bit of goalkeeping.
