When I first saw this as a kid, I missed the scene in the beginning where the paper mentions Chris getting stabbed, so the end of the movie when Gordie mentions it came as a total shock. I was like, "What??? You can't do that!" lol

Like many other people, even though I clearly saw the newspaper at the beginning, I forgot about it because the rest of story was so engrossing, and given the powerful reminder of it at the end. I consider it a mark of greatness for a story to be able to do that.

In that time frame Vern would have been practically obese. One of these most striking things about watching documentaries from the 50's, 60's.. is the absence of anybody who is even remotely overweight. When I was growing up it was strange to see somebody overweight.

You know you're getting old when a youtuber says this movie's set in the 80's.

That train was real, just the way it was shot made it look closer than it was

Good reaction guys! This movie is based on a novela The Body which is inspired by Stephen King's own childhood. One of his childhood friend was struck by a train and died in front of him, his father also went to war in WW2. And King's story endings have always been critized, like when Teddy pointed out that he didn't like the ending.. I just saw this movie this december and I was introduced to the amazing acting of River Phoenix who is also an amazing guy.. RIP River

The narration of the return trip of the four boys all gone back quietly is wonderful. He finds a deer in a quiet forest as a unicorn. This is suggestive. A psychologist soon notices. This movie doesn't appear in young women. But that deer is a suggestion that the future lover of the Cody boy appears. I was touched by the universal value of this movie.

“it’s a blue screen” 😭 yeah bc they wouldn’t dare do that scene with an actual train.. that’s terrifying!

I think y’all would really enjoy ‘Last of the Mohicans’ if you haven’t seen it already. It’s a Daniel Day Lewis masterpiece with one the best musical scores ever..:)

Made in the 80's, set in the late 50's

You can tell your from a specific generation when all you obsess about is ‘gun discipline’. Many of us growing up from the 50’s-80’s were raised with guns, we knew how to use them, their potential, and we respected and valued human life in a way that todays generation seems to have completely lost. What you should be more concerned about it untreated grief and uninvolved parents.

A great but often overlooked 80s movie is "Inner Space" with Dennis Quaid. Barely any reactions for it. You might also like "Contact" with Jodie Foster.
