This is my SHYT Im 35 and all my parents played was Bobby!! The early 80's were memorable to many because of him......some of yall 80 babies were made with Bobby in the background.
STILL LOVIN' THIS IN 2020 Bobby continues to live thru this FANTASTIC music. I was first introduced to this as a teenager, and it still feels as good as it did back them. Some radio stations wouldn't play the "PREACHER" part, and went right to the song. But I always wanted to hear the whole thing... THANK YOU BOBBY FOR BLESSING US WITH THIS. LOVE FOREVER!!!!
@blackbear2136 Thanks for posting this Blackbear. This was a great nite in LA, when this was recorded live @ a club on Santa Barbara (now called Martin Luther King), just w/ of Western Ave. Actually Bobby's band in the late 60's,early 70's had his Brother Harry on base & Gordon (who was legally blind) on organ, (don't remember any one else). His mgr Ed, road mgr - think was Bill. During this #, Bobby teased the audience, got down on 1 knee & sang to me (was a friend( Still a great entertainer
Mr Womack has left the building forever. Thank you for your wonderfully conforting vocals that got me and my family and my race through the 1970s,80s,90s, and the 2000s. Love you forever, thanks, man.
I have always loved this song and I blast it every time I hear it. I heard this version for the very first time today and even though I was late for an appointment I didn't get out of my car until this song was over. There is no ONE like Bobby. One of the greatest of all time. One helluva band.
Hey Dotcliffe, here I am 2 years later...forgot I had posted...I wish you had have been there two...Ed, is the one that you hear talking about the police..that was all impromptu, the police were really outside LOL...it was a fun night...Bobby use to sing to me, because it was safe...LOL...I use to work for KGFJ radio back in the day...and was fortunate enough to meet many people and get invited to many places...Bobby is extremely talented..and that is to say the least... hope youre doing well.
Ah hah....I've got another word to describe you and your music: "WINDMILL". What, you say??? You are like a windmill because you are always in motion, and you generate a lot of energy and always have your audience wondering, what..is this man going to do next??? Whether you walked on stage and played guitar, sang, or, answered questions, everyone goes home feeling like they have had the best desert in the world. When you've got it, you've got it, and Robert Dwayne...you've got it.
Bobbie womack (da facts of life) is DEEP MAN! He's straight up!! we can spend da nite & mak "whoopie", but we can't run away & play "hookie"! Dis is a hit it & quit it, can u handle dat girl? THATS DEEP MAN! At least he's keepin it real u no?? "U GO BOY'
Bobby has always been my favorite male artist and whitney has always been my favorite female artist. RIP Mr. Womack you did your thang and you left one helluva impression on a lot of people. Me being one. I love you and I miss you and your music. I get a funny feeeeeeeeeeling.
Peace, really was a good band, I used to hear them a lot in Georgia, I'm hoping that more than 3 are still around, I'm sorry to hear about Clarence Lucas, Charles Burns and the others. Bobby had 2 trumpet players, Charles also sang vocals, whatever happened to Gary Lester also a trumpet player in the Peace band?
This was played on the radio a lot back in the day. Kind of reminds me of Isaac Hayes' version of "By The Time I Get To Phoenix". Don't know if live concerts are this personal anymore. So sad if they ain't.
@poekneegurrl Thanks for telling us about this song. I always wondered about the story behind this song and where it was recorded. It is one of my favorite Bobby Womack songs. It got "mad play" as well as DJ's comments back in Memphis when it was released. LOL.
