  • Burn Carbohydrates with Antioxidants: Alpha Lipoic Acid- Thomas DeLauer:
Did you know that the body is capable of producing its own antioxidants? One powerful antioxidant produced by the body is alpha lipoic acid.
Alpha Lipoic Acid is found in every cell of the human body. Both water soluble and fat soluble, so able to act throughout the body. Antioxidants attack free radicals, which are waste products that occur when the body creates energy through the food we eat. Free radicals can also come from exposure to toxins and pollutants. Negative effects of free radicals include: slows metabolism, abnormal cell growth and proliferation, impaired neuron signaling. Free radicals lead to cellular damage, including damage to organs. Make the body more susceptible to infections. Cancer, heart disease and diabetes are partially caused by this kind of cellular damage. How else can ALA help our health?
ALA for Fat Loss and Building Muscle: Multiple studies have found ALA reduces weight gain in rodents and in humans. One study followed obese diabetic patients for 20 weeks with either 600 mg supplementation of ALA per day or a placebo and found significant effect on body mass index and triglyceride levels, decreasing BMI and triglyceride levels, in the subjects with oral ALA supplementation. Protection against insulin resistance has been shown. Insulin resistance leads to decreased glucose uptake in fat and muscle cells.
ALA helps to turn glucose into energy, or fuel, for your body through insulin signaling: When insulin binds to the insulin receptor a cascade of events is started, leading to increased cellular glucose uptake. ALA has been shown to activate this cascade of events, leading to increased glucose uptake in fat and muscle cells. This is done not through an effect on insulin levels, but by triggering the same sequence of events, leading to glucose transport for energy creation. ALA sort of mimics insulin!
Studies have shown that this shuttling allows more glucose to enter skeletal muscle cells, thus more glucose burned as for energy → more energy to tear and rebuild muscles and less shuttled to be stored as fat. When more glucose is delivered to muscle cells, there is less available to be stored as fat in far calls. So you have more fuel to push muscle growth and less glucose stored in fat cells = muscle growth and less fat accumulation.
Other Possible Uses of ALA: ALA is approved in Germany as a treatment for diabetes and for symptoms of diabetes due to its effect on glucose.
    Cancer
    Memory Loss
    Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
    HIV/AIDS
    Heart Disease
    Eye related disorders
How to add Alpha Lipoic Acid to Your Diet: Foods high in ALA: broccoli, spinach, potatoes, red meat, organ meats - liver. You can also take supplements. The bioavailability of supplemental ALA has been shown to be much greater than that of dietary ALA. You can take about 50 mg for antioxidant purposes; up to 800 mg per day for diabetic purposes, as directed by a doctor. 350 mg to 600 mg daily is a common dose. This is often recommended to be taken on an empty stomach.

I can only speak for myself, but A.L.A. saved me from a very serious operation. I have taken alpha-lipoic acid for 4months no more severe lower back and hip pain. Even my nerve pain in my leg and foot has gotten better. I was supposed to have surgery beginning of August, I don't see any reason why I should have it I feel 80% better than I have in years. I have been taking vitamins half my life I never seen any kind of change in my body from the supplements. But with this alpha-lipoic acid it's a game changer. ♡""😊""♡

    R Lipoic acid is better
R-Lipoic Acid (the R (+) enantiomer) is the form of lipoic acid that occurs naturally in plants, animals and the human body and is responsible for the specific beneficial effects of Alpha-Lipoic acid. R-lipoic acid (RLA) is the *only* form that functions as a co-factor for mitochondrial enzymes involved in energy production.
That’s why it’s so important to know your Lipoic Acids.

I' d be careful with ALA, as it is known to detoxify the body. If too much toxins are dissolved from save storage places in the body, e.g. from the fat under the skin, they can be reabsorbed and cause damage again.
There is the Andrew Cutler Protocol, that says how to detoxify the body. Never take larger amounts of Alpha lipoic acid, but tiny dosages every three hours for three days a week, then pause for four days. This is done for several months up to a year. It has to be sure, the body can get rid of the toxins, so metabolism has to work properly and bowel movements have to be regular. Never detoxify when constipated.

What about R-lipoic acid? Is it more effective as it says on the label? What's better - full dose of ALA or a smaller dose of RLA?

    • @murphsviews
      @murphsviews Před 2 lety

Half of ALA is R-lipoic acid and it’s the half that counts. So if you’re taking 600mg of ALA, you’re getting 300mg of R-ALA.

Am no expert, but there are two forms of alpha lipoic acid (1) ALA (2) R-alpha lipoic acid. I suffer from nerve pain too and have found only the high dose R-alpha lipoic acid from AOR to be effective in my case. I take one a day, and I do not need to continue non-stop. Depending on severity of my symptoms I can take 1 or two weeks and stop until I feel the need to take it again.

@@poppylove3673 AOR is the brand name. You can get lots of alpha lipoic acid in different brands, however AOR R-Alpha-Lipoic acid is the one that really had an impact. I must tell you though one of my friends tried it from a different brand and said it made her symptom worse. I’d recommend you seek the advice of someone knowledgeable before trying this out (I didn’t because I was desperate and no one could figure out what I was suffering from). My symptoms got extremely bad some months after (my nerve pain also turns into electrical sensations that are so strong that it would cause jerky movements beyond my control)I had posted this response. I was prescribed Lyrica, and later on Amitryptiline which I took temporarily. Lyrica was the one that mostly took things to a whole different level. The downside though was that it made me awfully drowsy. You can get the R-alpha-lipoic acid from drug stores or health stores. Amazon also carries it. Wish you well Poppy Love.

There are 2 types of ALA... there is R-ALA and S-ALA. Buying just ALA is very likely a mix of S-ALA and R-ALA (50/50).

ALA is very power stuff no doubt especially when taken with ALCAR

NOrmally when you take the bioactive form of a supplement, you notice the difference very fast almost imediatly. So I will see wether there is a difference soon, although it cost about 15 bucks more

S-ALA and R-ALA. S is synthesized and is inactive form which we don't need and R-ALA is form we need. Regular ALA that is commonly sold is actually a 50/50 mixture of S-ALA and R-ALA. Just R-ALA is unstable and often degraded before it comes in mail. There is also a different type of R-ALA to make it stable and solve this issue, it's called NA-R-ALA. They bind sodium to R-ALA to fix this issue. So in theory Na-R-Ala is probably the best and safest version of Alpha lipoic acid.

Hey Thomas, I’d urge you to look deeper at insulin resistance. It’s way more prevalent than just in diabetics! Anything that helps it, that increases insulin sensitivity, including this ALA, is a boon, as it’s the basis of pretty much every chronic disease you can name. Highly recommend the expert, both here in YT, but also in his well-referenced, easy to understand book, Why We Get Sick: Ben Bikman, PhD.
