I'm at the 1:54:30 mark. Did anyone here mention how insane these schematics are and how well they come together?
Josh's assembly is quite impressive but someone actually had to draw these sketches before hand. I salute you. Whoever you are.
These guys are freaking rockstars! They’re out there making things happen in the RC industry. So cool! Thanks for all you do!
I’m so glad I got into this hobby and found you guys when I looked up how to build a plane. You guys showed up and I was hooked. Keep up the hard work and keep innovating!
Josh, My kit arrived today. To help others, on future kits, please mark the wooden nacelle forms with "F"ront and "R"ear. They are so close in size I could see someone building the engines backwards.
This is probably the best comprehensive build I have seen yet. Complicated but not so hard it cannot be done. For the price of a foamy, I think this is a good deal. I may buy the kit instead of down loading the plans like I normally do. This one has enough steps that cutting out everything is enough as it is. Those that disliked this is just someone wanting a fully assembled model. All I can suggest is find someone willing to build it for you. No , its not balsa... but if it was, it would not be as durable. I ALWAYS hot glue seal my open seams on leading edges or open edges to prevent the paper from peeling up. I am sure paint would seal them but some paint can get in and loosen the paper or worse, melt the foam. Happy building guys!
Try taking a covering iron and "rolling" the edges (or tapering the trailing edges) I just tried this on an FT Explorer build and not only does it make fantastic finished edges, but they seem stiffer as well (I omitted the tail braces because of it.) I had my iron set to about 325F.
@@kilroy07 Thats a great tip. Pass it on!
I love these step by step build videos. Please do more! Not only are they helpful to people following with a build, they are a very therapeutic watch!
I sat and watched the whole video (like I do for all your planes) and it amazes me how thankful you are Josh. To date I have 20 of your planes and I have to say that it's me who is thankful. I blame you for getting me into the hobby (don't know why I waited 30 years) and now I have my 12 year old daughter building the Master Series planes while I'm at work (she gets impatient) I will start the A-10 today but instead of a regular receiver I'm just going to use the Aura5 from my FT P-38. So thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making such an awesome product and for being who you are. To me it's very humbling.
Fantastic job explaining everything in clear and simple manner. Thank you!!!
I love the way you explain how to work the foam board. So cool
Thank you so much for spending so much time and effort perfecting and sharing this!!!
It's a good thing you released this in winter because if I decided to scratch build this it would probably take me weeks to cut out and organize. awesome plane.
.
I rarely fawn over "celebs" or CZcams channels but you guys really do rock. Free plans! No one offers modern plans of this quality for free anymore. Quick kits that are affordable... Anyone would think your doing this for the love of it and not money... Keep it up fellas. Sterling work really. I also LOVE the A10. I recall fly overs from the nearby base of Wethersfield in North Essex (about 4-5 miles from where I grew up) I've always loved the tank buster.
I just bought this plane and c twin pack. I can’t wait to follow along until the maiden. Tk you Josh and Crew,
How did it go?
I built one of these in mid 2019 and have flown a couple of dozen times. I purchased a standard Dubro 4mm nose wheel kit, discarded the heavy steel strut with the spring suspension component and bent a simple straight piece with 90 degree bend for the front wheel. This I mounted just in front of the battery hatch at about 10mm. I used the leftover foam board from the kit to make box sections to strengthen the nose section to accommodate the extra loads on landing/takeoff. The wing landing gear was bent up out of 4mm piano wire, a 90 degree bend pushed into the motor pod 15mm rear of the leading edge. It the ran down next to the pod to the trailing edge of the box section. The height of the landing gear is dependent of your chosen prop/motor combo... but easy to do. And I just used hot glue to affix it to the wing and pod joints. As a result of the landing gear being over 200mm long, they a quite forgiving on rough landings. Hope this helps.
Loved every minute of that! Thanks so much.
3 hour build video thanks Josh Bixler and Flite test and Dan Sponholz for all the work you guys do. although you guys make these videos fun, interactive and informative I can't imagine how much work you guys do behind the scene to make this 3 hour video.
Awwwwwwwwwesome..... My kit is to be delivered tomorrow. I can't wait. Need to find a gun barrel for the nose.
Black straws (Coffee Stirrers, and Ring).
This is so awesome, Josh makes it look so easy. I bought this model and like the other 7 FT models I only build 1, my 12 year old daughter build the other 6 waiting for me to come home from work and at times I'm really late coming in and she get impatient. So I'm buying another one but Makers Foam will be fun
I know a lot of you are anxiously awaiting the release of the free plans. It will be a few more days before they are done. I'm working my way through the build video to make sure the plans match the build process. This is the biggest, most complex plan set I've done for Flite Test. I want to make sure I get it right so that everyone can have an enjoyable build process. Thank you in advance for your patience.
Daniel Sponholz Hi cant wait sooo cool can you say when? And what is brrrrrrrrrrrttt I see on other comments? Thamks
Daniel Sponholz Spoonz, you are, and always will be, the man 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I second the request on the free build plans. I plan to down scale the airframe to match the size and scale of my growing fleet.
What about plans for the 8-foot A-10 in all the videos? Just going to make us have to do maths to scale up all the prints? Why this tiny thing, after teasing everyone with the 8ft span??? So disappointed in you guys right now. :(
Daniel Sponholz where can I get the plans?
I love some of these new design aspects!
Such a GREAT Build, with all the Fine Details included! Thanks again, for giving us another fine product.
(Guess I'll be saving up a couple months for the Kit, then save for the Motors and All...! Don't get Old and Broke, like ME!). Haha!
Wow! Awesome video and build! I am definitely subscribed!
So good to see Flite Test returning to designing and selling kits!
when were they not? I missed that era

Sweet! You guys are amazing.
Let's all pray for the users that disliked the A-10 build vid, please. Be healed!
HyperFX841 It’s too late for them!
just brrrrrrrtttt them into oblivion
I think they didnt like how long it was
Yay! Can't wait to get started on mine. Arrives tomorrow!
Woohoo! You're batch 1. Lucky guy :) Batch two ships early next week.
Congrats. You finally made a build video the same length as 'Doctor Zhivago.' Definitely a Flite Test milestone. =)
I can't wait to see the video for the conventional landing gear! Keep them coming!
Me TOO!
Hey, great to see you on Flight Test Josh!
The FR A-10 has a lot of interesting design choices, many defer greatly to previous style FT planes. While that shell like method is already reminiscent of the FT Legacy and Sea Angel (as Andres Lu do) things like the wing are very different, using non tab connections between its sections, how incredibly thick the wing is, the complete box spars, the amount of undercamber on the trailing edge as well. The major changes of course relate mostly to the shell style construction and complex geometry that allows for the convincing shape.
AWESOME WORK Thanks for the info
I built a scratchbuilt A-10 parkjet from a designer few years back. The size didn't fit well to my preference. I just designed my own scale score and fold A-10 on a pusher but my friend from UK converted the design to twin motors. It's designed from a scaled down blueprint of A-10. All fly extremely stable in slow and fast flying. I couldn't imagine if I convert my design to this size 😅 it might take hellfire missiles on board. Well done Josh!
*You Are AMAZING. I've used Exacto™ tools for decades, and NEVER been able to cut a straight line without using a cork-backed steel ruler. You should have a bronze plaque on your building describing your extraordinary skill. (Wait! are you telling us everyone you've ever met can do these cuts freehand?) As a young kid, I saw other kids carefully place a tiny droplet of glue on the tip of a toothpick, transfer that glue to the hollow cup of several female/male tabs, then patiently hold the parts together, not fidgeting or messing with'em for the long minutes needed for the glue to set*.
*I would just dip my model parts into a vat of glue and then hold'em together, Squirming and twitching until the glue set. One advantage - With my fingerprints all over the surface, I was always able to prove which model was MINE. Besides, the thing only had to hold together long enough to take it and a few other toys to some remote weapons-testing site, and BLOW them up with FireCrackers!!!!*
I think this must be an awsome fpv plane. I hope it will be available one day in my local store. They sell allready some speedbuild kits from FTT
I just wanna say you guys are amazing 😍
Buckle up! This is a big one. XD A-10 for the win. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrttt!
Where are the plans?
@ yeah, dan! 😆
Answer is, coming soon 👌
@@FliteTest Dan is the man!
@ awww shucks. Thanks Andre. 😊
Are the wing sections the longest single piece of the plane? My laser unfortunately will only allow a 24 inch piece of foamboard and I have to modify most of the plans I have cut out so far.
Awesome! Killer plane!
We need a mighty miny version of this, plus diff thrust. Just perfec👌
Ps, keep up the amazing work flitetest, you guys are the best!!
Ez G the person love ya brother!
@@joshuamelvin :)
Awsome video. Good job
Awsum work guys
Can we please have a mini version of the FT A10 warthog?
You actually have the ability to do this on your own. If you download the plans you can scale a PDF when getting ready to print it out. Want a plane that's 50% the size of the original? Scale the plans down by 50% when printing. Want something 25%? Again, scale the plans down and it should print at the proper size.
The only issue I can see with this would be that the cuts will also scale which means you'd need to open them up a little bit more. It's not a perfect solution for what you're asking for but it is a "right now" solution.
@@Reboot153 Thanks for the solution however the thickness may also vary with difference in PDF size. Having a flite test designed mini version of this amazing aeroplane would be amazing!
There's a 70% scale a-10 plans on FliteTest forums, I'm building one right now to fit with the A pack.
@@JudeSchauer can you put a link for it plz
I love this plane.
Crazy awesome 👏🏽
I get to watch real A10s take off and fly every day at work. We even get to go in the Air Force A10 simulator. Love my job !
I would love to see this as a mighty mini!
Scale it down 70%
Such great instructions, so in depth! you guys really do kill it. Seriously I'm pretty sure my dog could assemble this with these directions... If he could run a hot glue gun... obviously.
Hes like to bob ross of rc planes
Happy little tree's loved Bob Ross
There are no mistakes in this build. Just happy little accidents 😆
I love Bob Ross!
I think josh can make actually building a real a-10 be easy.
Kyle Watson trust me, it’s the great team editing all my crazy to make it look good. They are amazing. :)
THANKS @JoshBixler for putting this back in the Store! AND for offering it in White Maker Foam!! 😁😊💯
NOW if the Landing Gear kit would FINALLY be available...........
Even a Video Series on how to bend our own, for these bigger Planes.
Beautiful
Got mine today already started building 😀
tell us how it goes.
Very cool 👍
Very cool I built it too with this tutorial
*BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTT!!!!!!!*

What a great video......
nice Job

Good build video I am scratch building along
Good job
Fantastic
Good Job ✈️✈️✈️
Best smr in youtube
I wonder, with it being smaller than the original one, could you use the C motors in the Ducts if you modded the Wooden formers to hold the motors. Still, incredible build. Incredible plane. I may have just found my next build.
Your amazing..i hope you can build 'JF 17 Thunder'.
I just printed 96 sheets of paper for this build. :D
I love your vids Josh and the Flit
....FliteTest team!
Where'd you find the plans. I can't seem to find them anywhere
Soo good
Thanks. I may need to come up with a way to join the two halves. I don't trust my hand cutting skills enough yet.
Watching this a thought came to me. With all the tiny cameras you guys have access to, why don't you make use of them for catching closeups of what you're doing when the normal camera will have a tough time seeing. For example, you could attach one of those mini GoPros just ahead of the trigger on the glue gun to catch a close up of tricky glue applications, or inside the fuselage to catch when you're doing something inside that would otherwise be hidden.
I love this plane! Awesome job with it! It seems to take forever with the laser cut kits; I can't imagine how long it will take me to scratch build it.
Is it possible to buy just the wood laser cut parts of this kit? I want to scratch build, but I have nothing to cut the wood that cleanly.
Can you build one with ducted fans? I believe you can and place them in the rear engine spots.
I love the A-10. Always have, my dad worked on them in the Air Force for 25 years. What is that Plane behind Josh in the first 40 seconds of this video? It kind of looks like an A-10 and a mini Speedster had a kid.
Lol. 😂
From Japan.
A-10 is one of my favorite attackers.
Im anxious to make it but I well know
that I cant make it.
Awesome work guys do you have tutorial DVDs or video downloads?
Design the Thunderbolt next pls I want both. Lol. A10s Rock!
It’s the same plane it’s just people liked the name warthog more
I wonder if you could put 3 or 4 bladed props on motors in the ducts at the rear instead of the power pods under the wings. or maybe two sets of them per duct, with the rear mounted prop having a higher angle of attack...
wonderful build video, and a successful flight at least, love it
why you don´t build it with edfs, there are great problems? or is it a question of weight?
i think its more about price. we arent very wealthy men, its why we use foamboard instead of just buying an airframe. Edfs that size arent cheap to say the least
Great job once again guys. Will the LASER cut plywood formers be sold in the store for those of us wanting to scratch build. If so, what might the price point be. Thanks for all you guys give to the R/C community.
This is one of my favourite RC plane does it have Rc stuff because the price is not bad it’s just a lot
wow i really gotta learn to land like josh.
Josh, this is DEFINITELY FTW!!!! 🍻🍺👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Sadly, (I'm assuming) it's far out of my price range. 😢 But OMG!! I really want one. Hey? Maybe when my fortunes FINALLY change for the better - the EDFs will be ready.....
I used to work on these back in 89-91. The Warthog makes me smile too!
Also, you should REALLY sell a Gatling Gun for the front of this!! 😀

PoorManRC don’t worry friend. Free plans will be out soon. :)
@@joshuamelvin That's exciting news!! Having never Built an Aircraft with that much complexity and margin for error.... I feel I should wait for the Quick Build Kit.
....then there's the matter of the Electronics. 😞
I WANT this one!! If there's any way, I'll make it happen! 😉
Thanks BTW! It was great seeing you doing a Build Video again!! 👍👍
Seems like it's been too long since the last one.

@@joshuamelvin Where is the supplemental Video for conventional Landing Gear?? 😊
"How come you didn't install fan induction motors in the real jet engine housing?" "You could of got them from Eflite. Nice jet design!
The ducts are BIG so an edf would be very expensive for this size model because it would be like 120mm diameter units or something around there. And if you were to use smaller units it would throw the scale off majorly.
They are also not efficient
Hey
@@brownsamurai3070 Hey what? I'm Richard Browne! Someone has stolen my Email address!
@@richardbrowne1217 lol
Awesome with a capital A !!!! Its because of Flight Test that I got back into the hobby. So many planes, so little garage space..............
Excellent skills .. can you find a way to insert some BBQ skewers in those jointed parts?
When will a kit be available that uses motors inside the engine pods instead of in wing mounted pods???
Or will there be a kit made avail to add them to existing kits?
Love the planes, channel, and content!
annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd 30 more minutes into the video, you answered that question.... SOOOOOOOO when will that kit be ready? I don't see it on the site, but I've seen the video with motors in the ducts...
When I buy this will I get a controller and the foam board and I've also looked at all the extra products and I was wondering if i would have to buy the "crafty kit"
What about that video for big versions and a two pieced wing?
Stefan K. Yeeeesss
Hello! I am a complete beginner with flying rc planes, but I absolutely love what you've done here! If I build this plane, will it be hard for me to fly? Keep in mind, I have never flown an rc plane. If it crash lands, how hard would it be to fix/replace parts? Thanks.
that asmr with his hands going over the win
11 SHEETS OF FOAM!?!?!? time to visit the hobby store!
you are top
Where can I find the supplemental video for the takedown monster-wing? Did I miss about the props? Was on prop a pusher and the other a normal? Wouldn’t the engine going backwards make the prop go backwards? Making plane flat spin?
Just watched a flight video of this, Here's a good question; Even though it has wheels, there's no way those 10" props are gonna clear the ground..? Yes/No? ..So it's new props every flight?
As others have requested. would really like to see the ducted fan conversion. also why is there a 3rd wheel in the kit but no mention of it in the build process. why include it if you aren't going to use it.
Great video, but where are the free plans? I can't find them in the discribsion
is there a way that you all just just sell the wood accessories I scratch built the plain and would like to use all of those wood pieces without cutting them out my self? thanks for the great design and keep up he good work josh
Hey Flite Test! I have decided to take up this hobby with my dad. We just ordered the A-10, the power pack, 2 batteries, and the Y splitter. The only thing that we need is the transmitter and the receiver. However, we don't have the $280 to shell out on the things that you used in the vid. What alternative transmitter and receiver combo would you recommend in the sub $100 range that would be pretty simple to use?
Have you come up with any EDFs for this plane yet?
I'm planning on building a scaled down version of this using twin 28mm or 30 mm edf units. How much would I need to scale down the plans to fit my needs? Any help would be appreciated as this is my first major scratch build.
This video does not mention Throttle Cut at all. Each radio is different but it would be nice to know how to setup Throttle Cut for "Differential Thrust" on this DX8e.
Maybe add a link to the store page for the plane?
I will buy one of these😉😉
Can y'all make a tutorial binding them on flysky fs i-6???
