She underestimated other’s power and overestimated her own power. Instead of being cautious and slowly building her support base in the harem, she caused chaos in the Emperor’s harem. Lots of disharmony and contempt held by the Palace for her. She believed she only needed herself but it is also good not to make unnecessary enemies, such as Consort Ying. She makes a powerful ally, but she’s clever and can see through people’s act. She liked Ruyi and that is why she often is seen taking her side and turned against Wei clanswoman.
Her biggest mistake is not realising the identity of whoever she is slapping. She is not just slapping Consort Ying; she is insulting Mongolia and the Mongol tribes were necessary allies to uphold the stability of Great Qing. She would be slapping every single Mongolian Consort there and that’s further insulting all the other clans; that isn’t a harem matter no longer, it becomes a state affair. It could court rebellions. She was playing a dangerous game.
She didn't realize that she should have just befriended all the harem women and be a good example to them all so that they will naturally respect and obey her, but instead, she chose to exert her harem powers over everyone and overlooking the fact that the ppl she wants to bend to her will are literally beloved daughters of powerful clans

She literally had no backers other than her children; no officials, no clan, no influential harem member. Not even the elder 3rd Princess Hejing and the younger 7th Princess Hejing stood by her in the end. Yongyan only became Emperor because there were no other eligible male heir other than him. Yongji was out of the picture since the Emperor wanted to honor Ruyi's last request to let her son be free from any more palace-related troubles.

@@diarrabeyesy3699 Yes, it is a good show too. But I don't think it's a real prequel to Ruyi's Love in the Palace. Initially, when Zhen Huan was only a small guiren, she showed sympathy towards a child Hongli when she met him at the Summer Palace. Maybe, at that time she would have treated Hongli like an actual mother would. Then, when she re-entered the Forbidden City as Xi fei, she treated Hongli a bit differently (not that she was bad to him but her attitude towards Hongli changed from sympathy and pity towards a neglected child to one of teacher and student). At that time, Hongli's personality also changed. He went from a innocent child who craves loves and attention to an outstanding and talented adolescent with a shrewd eye.
In the end, their relationship was not one of mother and son but one of business partners.
In this show, when Hongli took the throne, the Dowager was shown more than once to voice her need to "set down some rules" before Hongli's "wings have strengthened" in his Emperor position. And Hongli more than once showed his dissatisfaction of having his "mother" dominate over him. When he decided to "accept" Shu guiren, he prevented her from getting pregnant so his mother wouldn't "adopt" Shu guiren's child and make that child the heir to the throne. When Hongli heard that one of his most trusted imperial physician, Qi Ru was not completely loyal to the Emperor but do things for the Dowager, he had the physician killed.
The Dowager did "adopt" Hongli, fed him, clothed him and accepted him as her "child" as per the Royal decree but it doesn't seem like she showed him unconditional maternal love. Similarly, Hongli also accepted Zhen huan as his "mother" but did so because he knew that Zhen huan was very powerful and could potentially help him outcompete the other princes and install him on the throne.
@@blenderpain8249 empress in the palace is actually the prequel of ruyi. Both shiws are written by the same author. There was even a reference from empress in the palace. It was mentioned that zhen huan and hua fei hates each other and thats why ruyi did not get huas palace. Also historically hongli was the only biological child of zhen huan

Lol she says foster mothers can’t care for the child as good as a birth mother but aren’t most imperial children usually being cared for by other concubines? It’s not uncommon in ancient Chinese dynasties.
The thing is, if ling fei really wanted to be with her birth daughter, she could’ve easily visited concubine ying to see jingyuan and build up a relationship. But given how children give power (and ling fei only wants that) she thought she could just do whatever? She could’ve been kind and respectful to the others and so they would respect and follow her, but no, she had to try and slap the only princess of the most powerful mongol clan when she herself has no backing. By slapping her she slaps the other Mongolian consorts and disrespects qianlong’s most powerful ally. All she relies on is the emperors favour, when the Mongolian and powerful Han/manchu concubines have powerful clans at their back. These concubines have to be treated well even if not favoured (and some were even immediately promoted to imperial concubine) or the emperor risks uprising from the maiden clan. Even ruyi was careful when handling with jia fei because the yu clan was very powerful.

Huang Guifei(Wei Yanwan) is definitely drunk with power, being only one rank behind the Empress title, Huang Hou, which Ulanara Ruyi/Qingying still retains, but no longer in charge of the Haram.
Barin Meiruo may only be a Fei(Imperial Concubine/Consort), but she’s a Mongol Princess from the North, plus the Mongolian tribes were the Qing Dynasty’s allied cavalry, so upsetting them is a big mistake, apart from the Emperor that is, but even he is careful not to offend or anger any of the allied tribes. Despite the Haram being forbidden from getting involved with State Affairs. The Haram itself is very political, with each high status concubine being sent there for political purposes, especially with Mongol and Manchu/Jurchen concubines.

行禮的部分，其實並沒有一定，我們很多時候看到的，所謂的儀制都是電視劇為了畫面好看自己加上去的，
實際上除非是大事，不然不可能會一直行禮，因為行禮的過程，也是在打斷皇帝，有時反而更不禮貌、更容易惹惱人，也會加深兩者的距離。炩妃在這一段的場景是私底下趁機向皇帝要求，氣氛比較親密放鬆，這時後突然行禮不只突兀，也會坡壞掉原先的和諧，所以她不行禮直接提出要求是正常的，一來本來就是閒話家常，黃帝放鬆她也要跟著放鬆，不然就是沒眼色，二來她是黃帝親封的「皇貴妃」，臉面還是要撐起來的，動不動就跪，反而是打皇帝的臉了。
再者行不行禮，往往是看當權者自己決定的，皇帝沒有應允她任何東西，她沒有「謝恩」的需求，自然不需要行禮，真正顯示出她「粗鄙無禮」的部分，是她未經允許強行帶走七公主那段，畢竟沒有皇帝的明旨，就完全是「拿著雞毛當令箭」，擺明了宮女風格的做法，偷偷摸摸的有失體統，所以太后才說，她無法讓人信服。
重點是皇貴妃無視皇上「不要勉強」的吩咐強行帶走公主，這樣算是違背聖意吧

Wang Chan was instructed to punish Consort Ying, but Consort Ying is from Mongolia which at that time was one of Qing Dynasty's strongest allies. Consorts are not allowed to participate in politics but it's just an unspoken rule that if your family/tribe is a useful allie, you are expected to be treated well.
So, can you imagine an eunuch of a random woman, who was born in a not politically influencal family and her only status comes from being a noble consort, slapping a Mongolian Princess that was sent to China literally as a sign of alliance?

Consort Ying is the only daughter of Mongolian king, very loved by her father on top of that too. She was sent as an alliance between Mongol and Great Qing thus even Qianglong himself treat Consort Ying very carefully
Hence, slapping Consort Ying = slapping her father = slapping all Mongolian tribe = Great Qing could lose one of its biggest ally = could be war / political instability

All Chinese dramas use Voice Actors because some actors have accents and some pronunciations need to be pronounced properly to avoid misunderstandings.
@@lou_isse1938 yes, the kid was voiced by a voice actor. But NOT ALL characters were voiced, and NOT ALL chinese drama dubbed their characters with voice actors.
Normally, they would dub their character with the original actor, but when the original actor's voice is not suitable, only they'll use a voice actor.
I'm not sure who used their original voice in this drama, but I'm sure Ruyi was dubbed by her original actor.
