- This is my second week in Taiwan, and I will take the Taiwan High-Speed Railway from Taipei to visit Taichung, the country's second-largest city.
This video is about my experience going on a day trip to the beautiful Sun Moon Lake, cycling around the lake, taking a boat to the bustling food market of Ita Thao town, and chilling sightseeing around Taichung city.

You don't need to buy a bus ticket in advance. Just use your easy card, very convineient.

Sorry, can i ask a question ? If i dun rent a bicycle, is it hard to walk around the lake?
And from the bust stop, do i need to walk long to the pier to take the boat to Ita Thao Village ? I saw you cycled a lot ^^
It is easy to walk anyway. But, since the lake is big, and has many attractions places to visit, I recommend you rent a bicycle.
The distance between the main bus stop (Shuishe) and the Shuishe Pier is about 300 meters (5-minute walk).
@@Chans_Itinerary I would love to cycle too ^^ But i'm bringing my parents who are over 70s, so it's impossible to do cyling :p

How many days do you recommend to stay in Taichung?
I recommend a 3-night' stay, including Sun Mun Lake and exploring the city.

The last bus from Sun Moon Lake to go back to Taichung City departs around 6.30PM which is the bus I have taken.
Hi Chan, may I know what is the bus stop for K Gold hotel from the Taichung city bus station?
The nearest bus stop to the hotel is called "Mei Rong Pharmacy". I took a bus from THSR Taichung Station and got off at the bus stop which is about 130 meters from Kgold Hotel.

where do u board the bus to Sun Moon Lake at Taichung Railway Station.
The bus station's name is "Taichung Station (Minzu Rd. Intersection)". You can find it on Google Maps.
Please note that I took the bus from Taichung TRA railway station in the city.
You can also take the bus from (THSR) Taichung high-speed railway station if you don't plan to stay in the city.
How much did it cost you to go from the station to Sun Moon Lake? Is it a public bus?
It is called "Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Sun Moon Lake Line." It is a public bus no need to book in advance. I paid around 150 TWD (~5 USD) with Easy Card.
Hi! Do they have a boat ride back to Shuishe pier?
Yes, they have. I recommend you buy a round ticket which is cheaper than buying separately.
But for me, I didn't. Because from Wenwu temple, I walked about 15 mins to Huanhu Rd. Intersection bus stop and take the bus back to Taichung City. All the buses departing from Shuishe Pier will need to pass the bus stop, anyway.
Hi is there any luggage locker at shuishe pier?
I am not sure about this. But in Taiwan, they have luggage lockers in most tourist sites and transportation hubs. You can contact Shuishe Visitor Centre for help.
Does the bus ride everyday? What time the last bus go and return?
Yes, they have the buses everyday. The last bus from Sun Moon Lake is around 6.30PM which I have taken. For the last departure from Taichung city, it is 7.45PM according to the schedule found at the bus stop.
the bus going back to Taichung is in the suishe bus stop? that's the only place?
What time is the 1st bus trip to SML?
The first bus is at 07:20 in the morning.
