Totally average Sekiro player completes Mortal Journey for the first time

- Completing the 17-boss gauntlet that is the Mortal Journey in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. This was actually my first time ever attempting the Mortal Journey, so technically I beat it on my first try - but I did put almost 250 total hours into the game before trying it for the first time, so I don't really think it's that impressive given how many times I'd already fought every boss anyway.
This was done on maximum NG+, but without the Bell Demon's curse active and while still holding Kuro's Charm. The point of this video isn't to be some wildly impressive feat of Gameing; Ongbal already exists after all, so why bother. I just wanted to document my own personal Mortal Journey, so here we are. I am proud of myself though - even though I had a few sloppy mistakes I think I overall played pretty well and I managed to beat it on my first try without having to use Resurrection at all. Not bad.

Idk if anyone would get this reference, but the Mortal Journey literally just reminds me of the Pantheon of Hallownest from hollow knight
I have yet to play Hollow Knight; it's on my list!

So, I have the platinum in Sekiro and in the past 2 weeks i have come back into playing again and man...I'M ADDICTED AS F*CK DUDE. The game is soooo good and feels great to play it once again. Your videos are great. In fact, im watching all of them. Keep the great content man, love from Brazil 🇧🇷

Doing it without resurrection is amazing. I have also done mortal journey sometimes but always died once or twice on Isshin Ashina.

Honestly think Sword Saint is easier than Ashina sometimes
For instance I beat Sword Saint on my 3rd try on first play through, a 4 phase boss fight with insane combos.
Did Shura ending & got Ashina in under 10 tires, I think 8, get to the Shura gauntlet & I spent literally 2 hours trying to legitimately learn Ashina’s move set & I still get hit once or twice when I fight him

Tanto , yari sugar and then bum rush, jump into his face , throw firecracker mid air, throw another once you’re on the ground, empowered mortal blade, firecracker firecracker mortal blade

@@umbek Only works that quickly if AI agro is nice though, just did another run where I had to deflect his slam & R1 to kill which took a little longer
Just attempted this gauntlet and came back to your vid after each boss for strats and tips, you make it look so easy! Unfortunately, I died ad Isshin Ashina, for some reason he always messes me up more than his other versions :( But great vids man
most people have less practice against regular Isshin than most of the other bosses so it's understandable. It took me a while to get used to him
40:24 u can use the fire umbrella against that jump attack and greatly punish it
really?? I've never even tried I assumed it would just knock you over regardless, I thought that attack was entirely unblockable
@@umbekYou can block it, and actually the boulders counts as projectiles, so it charges umbrella
I spent SO MANY TRIES trying to do this gauntlet with no kuro charm/ demon bell on. Needless to say i called it quits after a week of nonstop attempts..

As soon as I saw I could do the mortal journey I left the game, I need to get back on it, defeat inner father a couple of times to get my skills back, then complete mortal journey
It seems like this huge overwhelming task but it's honestly not that hard if you just put a little time in and practice the hardest fights. Inner Father is by far the hardest imo.
@@umbek Chris my heart was on fucking fire when I got to Inner Isshin, I don’t think I’ll ever have that much adrenaline again. Beat him, and was so pissed that I didn’t get anything for that

@@umbek so basically for vacation I was at my cousin's , he got a ps4 and I was there for a week I dedicated myself at the game for the whole damn week and I got to the glock saint but was not able to defeat it, it was some weeks ago.
I feel ya, but good stuff on even reaching the end of the game in that time span honestly. It took me probably 8 hours across 3 different sessions to finally beat Genichiro on my first playthrough haha

Wait how did inner genichiro redirect your sakura dance. I thought using sakura dance stops him from redirecting lightning.

No he can always Lightning Reversal you no matter what you use to do your first reversal, at least in my experience
Clean. After this I highly recommend you to play Resurrection mod and if you like this one next step will be LMTSR mod :D

Pretty sure you don't unlock Mortal Journey until you beat the other gauntlets, each of which ends in one of the three Inner bosses

Thanks! Honestly I've just been extremely busy, I was on tour with my band for almost all of May and have had a lot of work to catch back up on since I got home. I did recently start a new run though, so once I finish it I'll work on getting that video made. Definitely takes time to edit a 10-12 hour run down into 30ish minutes

@@umbek I got 180 hours on sekiro , lost all of my damn save file 💀 played it again and now im on my 176 hour , that shit was painful as i just Finally beated inner father after a whole day of trying , not to mension that i had to fight isshin amd emma all over 💀 until i realized that i could just train on him in the reflection until i got satisfied with 3 wins in a row against him . Fought his gauntlet and won .(half of the time i just laid there lol ill say that my full time is around 220 hours of full gameplay .

It's disappointing but I also get it. It would have been pretty crazy for them to put any kind of real reward at the end of a challenge that 99% of people who try the game will never get anywhere close to beating.

That has nothing to do with how good you are at the game lol you can grind to max stats at any skill level
