Zak and Andreas seem like the best people to be working for. They have a great balance of seriousness and fun. To have that support from the top creates a great environment all the way through the entire team.

Daniel looks way happier and way more relaxed than he did with Renault. Great to see him here but I do miss Carlos... Good to see he at least has a cameo in this video.

You never can really tell without a 2019 and 2020 renault unboxed because the media show what they choose to show. Unboxed seems more in-depth to the driver and better shows how they’re feeling with the team.
Language barrier probably didn't help, and this is his second time doing this so he's provide alot more prepped or at least ready for it

**(Side note: I'd be super grateful if people could like this so the channel admin see!)** It'd be really great if accurate subtitles/closed captions could be added so that people can understand what's going on a bit better (as autogenerated often doesn't make sense and throws up weird sentences) - I have an auditory processing disorder and my friend is partially deaf, we are both huge fans and love watching McLaren unboxed but sometimes it can be hard to work out what's going on without captions (but we still love seeing the inner workings of the team so keep it up!)

I absolutely agree, I have an autism related auditory processing disorder and always watch with captions, you can hire a company to do it for like £3 a min, but I'm sure a team as big as McLaren has someone in-staff who could do it ;)

I understand that it's supposed to give an in the moment perspective but it makes it really hard to work out what's being said, especially with masks on now because I can't rely on visual cues to help make sense of what's being said. My auditory processing disorder is linked to a traumatic brain injury I suffered years ago and as a result, when I put a lot of effort into working out what's being said, it gives me headaches. McLaren has a big enough of dedicated media team that they could easily get someone to add subtitles over these videos, meaning it's more accessible to all of us & we can all enjoy what's happening

People complaining about Netflix's "fake drama" between Lando and Carlos are the same people forcing Lando and Daniel to be the dream "meme team". Come on guys. They are professional racing drivers not actors in a sitcom.

@@chakra_x basically that their first season together they were best buddies but last season they had more of a rivalry. It made no sense seen as laat season their bond was arguably even stronger than the season before. Basically a wasted episode that could and should have gone to either Russell in the Merc or _that_ race in Turkey

In one of the latest interviews Lando said "there’s almost a pressure to be best mates" with Daniel. So guys, please stop it. Fan service is the last thing we need here.
They get along quite well to drive the team forward, they respect each other. Calm down and don't force them to act the way you like it. It's not a reality show.
We loved Carlos and Lando partnership because it was natural, there were no expectations. So don't dream about the new bromance, Lando and Daniel don't have to be best friends to maintain a healthy atmosphere in the team and win races.
As much as i adore good bromance relationship, the important one is they can work well together, respect each other on and off track so McLaren can move forward.
Honestly, the Lando/Carlos bromance wasn't as epic as everyone claims. It was just 2 colleagues who enjoyed each other's company. Plus, Carlos is a pretty serious guy and Lando was the funny one. It only worked because of their differences. Some interviews were funny and some were cringe. The most important part, as always, is mutual respect and Carlos/Lando had that. That's what separates McLaren from everyone else (maybe Alpha Tauri, but that still needs to be seen this season). As long as it doesn't look like Alpina team, then it shouldn't be a problem. Danny and Lando will work well together, if not better evens.
You could see Lando's disappointment in losing quali to Dan, & Dan's pleasure in beating his team mate. Their both such competitive beasts that I can't see any chemistry between them, just a healthy respect for the other. That side by side racing was awesome!
@@Timmy_T We don't know what did they do more behind the scenes. Carlos and Lando still hanging out together eventhough they're not be as a teammate anymore. Since testing until this weekend they are always meet at least to talk a bit. There's special bromance between Carlos and Lando, as Max/Daniel did at Red Bull even Carlos/Lando has it more

Zak is definitely one of the best characters in the world. Not necessarily like the other Principals, he doesn’t show the pressure and always has a smile on his face. Goes to show how fun the Mclaren environment is, and then Danny and Lando as drivers. Love this group, love this team.

At lot of people are commenting on how there seems to be an icy relationship between lando and Daniel. There are some things you might wanna think about before you comment stuff like that and start spreading rumours.
First of all, Daniel has just joined a new team so as you can probably tell from this unboxed episode he is probably focusing on himself and his racing at the moment as he is trying to adjust to working with a completely different team and a different car.
Secondly, this is the first time since Lando moved up to F1 that he has had a new teammate now that Carlos has moved to Ferrari. (I'm sure he has other teammates in other championships but this is the first in his F1 career)
Then there is also the fact that his new teammate is someone who he probably watched race in F1 on tv when he was younger. ( Daniel has been racing in F1 for just over a decade ). That has got to be a little bit strange.
So cut them some slack guys. 🙂 I'm sure we will see them getting up to some kind of mischief together later on in the season once they've had more time to work together.
I guess we will see shortly but would be nice to see them at least acknowledging that they are on the same continent!
Imo, people overly hyped this pairing, me included. But I understand, besides, we only see what they let us see and I feel people are disappointed they're not seeing what they hoped. Surely they have talked during the weekend at some point off camera, and generally speaking these guys seem to have a good relationship with each other.

Another thing I notice is that people think they are owed an entertaining duo, their F1 drivers... not comedians, yeah their personalities are great but I find it funny how people are almost offended that they are not treated to high quality entertainment like their owed it..

Zak Brown is so chill. He truly is one of the boys. Christian Horner is candid and open about a lot of things but he still has this aura of seniority. Toto is even less approachable and reserved, Binotto is a clown so you wouldn't wanna talk to him anyway, but Zak you feel like you could come up to and talk about anything and he wouldn't hold any of it against you. I am not surprised McLaren is progressing so well under his supervision, because it looks to me like the atmosphere in the team is that of complete freedom and leisure, but without sacrificing the work and performance. Everybody looks like they're glad that they are there and happy that they are doing what they are doing.
I'm still not used to seeing Lando and Carlos in different suits 😥

It was his first weekend with the car. I think he did really well..... as soon as he gonna get comfortable in next few races, I think lando will have to watch out for Riccardo after next 1-2 races.

I came here because not only Danny won podium, but he totally won first place, achieved fastest lap, and being the "Driver of the Day" at Monza. Now he's getting the chance to drive Dale's car as Zak promised.

I think a lot of people don't realise that they're comparing the start of Daniel and Lando being teammates to the very end of 2 years of Carlos and Lando being teammates. If you watch the first unboxed in 2019, you'll see that it probably showed just 5 seconds of Carlos and Lando interacting. McLaren is handling this perfectly. Being good teammates cannot forced upon them. They need time to adapt and learn. It will happen naturally.
Pls keep the the unboxed videos at this length! Thats the perfect amount of time to still have every Fp and quali in it plus the jokey side stil has time to shine! 20-25 min is good!
Zak Brown seems to be the coolest boss. So approachable, relaxed when needed, giving props and support to everyone. Very cool.

After the race Daniel definitely seemed like he was a little disappointed, but I also felt like he had the right mindset and the right positivity in that this is race 1, he didn't feel like he got all he could out, maybe felt a little slow, but if being slow gets you P7, imagine what it's going to be like when he feels fast.
He had less downforce from the gasly incident which slowed him so I’d say he did pretty well considering
Lando warm-up seems familiar, he probably learnt with some Chili out there.

I have a feeling its been discussed over winter and agreed that friendship mainly off camera. While we all love seeing great silly relationships there is a case for it being a distraction. Also it ends up being all that the media talk to them about, which isn't helpful. You also have the factor that it's expected, and it's always going to feel weird when the whole f1 community is demanding and trying to force a close friendship.
I'm sure this is just to set the tone and it will likely give them space to become closer over the months on their own terms.
They’re there to race,it’s not a social club.Lando and Carlos was a one off, in most team mates there’s tension, they’re out there to beat each other
I think Lando didn't take those 'comedy show' remarks during the off-season very well, and he is now in "OK I'll show you" mode vis-a-vis Daniel. I hope they get past that and relax with each other though. This McLaren team really has potential to be great !
