These both are such great examples of how the mix of automotive design and product design doesn’t need to result in bland, character-less end results.
They both look stupid IMO. I like the car one better because the minivan thing looks messed up in the rear. But the car looks like a prius. Honda should go back to making beautiful cars like the s2000 and the original NSX. Currently their lineup looks clean. The new civic, crv, accord and pilot are some of the best looking cars on the market.

People are starting to get tired of the same, beat shit. Do the new Hondas look cool? Id argue, absolutely. But like.....that's it. They are still average in terms of aesthetic design.
The 0 series actually makes me want to look forward to the future of cars. Too many wackass modern designs on the road. You aren't even distinguished compared to other ppl on the road.
Time to move forward into something that actually makes me get excited to drive my car.
@@DarkMeatNPC You dont buy a Honda to look unique. They are mass produced economy cars of course they are all gonna look the same because its transportation first, fun and cool second. Thats what the german and Italian cars are for.
@@Inferno45Fun and cool second? You just named some of the coolest and most sought after Hondas in the world. If you talk about current models, we have the Civic Type R and the Acura Integra and the NSX as well...granted they are nothing compared to the entire portfolio but they are enough in number to prevent a generalization of the company as one which make cheap reliable economy cars.

They didn't say they will produce it yet and seeing how conservative Honda is I doubt it will happen. Stop falling for these tricks.

@@Jykobe491Modern gas powered cars any better? They’re practically toys you can’t even repair anymore. It wouldn’t surprise me if they start programming the gas cap like the keys. You need a new one it’ll be $500 to reprogram a new one. Otherwise you’ll have a open hope to your tank.
Most EVS are different and have much more unique designs than ICE vehicles. I don't know what you're talking about.
Really interesting era where concept cars will be much closer to factory models than ever before. Ready for the cyberpunk streets
While I like both concepts, the closest thing to these two in production is the Honda e, which is not available for North America. And considering Honda is generally conservative when it comes to design, I'll keep my fingers crossed for now.

I completely agree with you: I was also predicting electrical cars could look very different. But then Tesla came with a car (the Model S) that had very conventional proportions.. Anyway, moving the greenhouse forward makes more sense if you also move the first row of seating forward and make the car shorter. In this Honda design, the driver is still halfway the length of the car and the car is much bigger than it has to be. But I agree, overall it's a cool design.

I love the Saloon sooooo much. I fear that it will be well out of my price range and will still be a massive vehicle for my needs but the design is clever and speaks to me in a way that many current cars do not.

BTW, the Lambo Countach is not very practical either, but very cool and aspirational. This is in that same category, design wise.
@@stevenjames1138 Have you ever looked at Honda's product portfolio, which has no entry anything like the saloon shown here? The saloon is, indeed, a concept car and is as impractical as those often are. Yes, it has Countach vibes, but no Honda has ever gone that direction previously and they won't this time either.
@@rlsedition Sure. I am familiar with Honda’s portfolio, at least in the US. Of course no current product looks like it. That’s the whole point. This is a concept car and designed specifically to be different - and attention-getting - than their current ICE cars.
It probably won’t ever get produced, but that makes the design no less cool. And it could point to Honda’s future design direction for their BEVs.
@@stevenjames1138 Well, I disagree. Recent Hondas have really cleaned up their exteriors (example: Civic), but I don't see that company going as radical as the saloon concept would suggest. We'll see.
The van reminds me of the Olds mobile Silhouette and the Pontiac Transport of the 90s.

Well you need 10% of the time for 90% of the finished product, and another 90% effort for the last 10%. So there is still a lot of time for development =)
If they nail the production version of the Saloon, this might be the 1st electric car I want to have.. it looks stunning.. perfect balance of retro-sport (Diablo, Eb110) and futuristic design 🖤

The rims and the bumper LED screen are a little funky, but other than that it looks great, reminds me of a Countach from the front and the back tailights are possibly the coolest ive ever seen on a vehicle.
It reminds me of the car from the 1986 movie "The Wraith". That car though, was a Dodge M4S Turbo Interceptor.
Interesting designs. The side view looks like a Lamborghini Diablo. Judging from the headlight, I think the new Countach was the inspiration for that Car. But it was definitely Lamborghini inspired.
As car companies copying each other, it is called TRENDS. It typically starts with a unique feature on a particular car. The first few car companies to imitate that feature would be considered copycats. But once it gets to about 5 imitation, it reaches critical mass. Then after that, it becomes a trend every other company must follow.
You are right in your dislike for cars without side mirrors. They look handicapped to me, like a person without ears.

In the 'sedan' I see a much shorter 2+2 coupe bursting to come out - a modern electric CRX. Perhaps with a little less slab sided cross section and more 'tumblehome' form.

These days “normal” concept cars look better than most super/hyper cars to me. After the original Lamborghini Countach nothing came close to the revolutionary feeling.

the space hub actually reminds me of the Li auto MEGA which is a minivan as well with a similar interpretation of the D pillar. both are interesting designs and i’m looking forward to your thoughts on MEGA

I personally like how Honda is rediscovering the angled 70s 'brutalism'.. not sure how this will met by the public as a 'style' though. The interior is cool.
I want to see them remake a CRX into this series, but I don't buy new cars, plus typically I like to stick with as much mechanical parts as possible so I'm not their target demographic lol for now I'll stick with my 88' CRX. I totally want to convert my tail lights into something similar to that saloon now though. I think these cars look cool.
