one way to shut everyone up is to prove everyone wrong on the field. sometimes criticism motivates people, and that's why players are advised not to taunt their opponent.
i think most players would rather have the underdog moniker, it takes pressure off, as opposed to everyone saying you're expected to win, which adds pressure.

I'm a Twins Fan, and this hurtslike hell, i have autism spectrum disorder which apparently this is a drug for me watching the twins get beaten by a team who tried to break the home run record, now 16 straight postseason losses is pain also, I was born in a wrong baseball generation, i think this playoff curse started around when after I was born, yes I know you yankees fans laugh at our despair at our piching, but you guys need to get it over with, i love baseball and we all do alot, if you guys have the most expensive tickets in the sports world, we have the cheapest owners in baseball, I wish I was born when twins had great guys like Kirby Puckett and his 1991 World Series antics. Oh lets not forget the trading of David Ortiz to the Red Sox after we lost to the angels in the alcs, I wish this team could've performed better as advertised. Sheech, calm the heck down.
