I think it was a fair question, bc there was a lot of racial BS in the lead up to that fight orchestrated by the media, and Don King, Dennis Rappaport, etc. You'd have had to been there at that time, things were very different. It still lingered when Tommy Morrison was coming up. That said, by this time, the Klitschko had reigned for ever, and I don't think anybody have two s**** about race/color. It's always seemed more of an American heavyweight thing anyway. If you want to see a good show, watch Holmes vs. Cooney Legendary Nights, and/or some other videos on YT of the Holmes - Cooney buildup. It's like a time capsule of boxing and society

So if you go to Eton and Oxford you mix with posh kids who can have differing amounts of melanin in their skin, but are still posh kids, and if you go to a run down inner city comprehensive school you mix with those kids who can also have differing amounts of melanin in their skin, but are also not posh. America doesn't seem to have the same social class divide, but they do go on about melanin for some reason.

The only people accusing AJ of ducking Wilder are people who haven't involved themselves in the debate. I've seen every Instagram post, every interview, every media bit regarding AJ-Wilder and it's clear as day that Wilder never wanted any part of AJ other than to make himself more famous off of AJ's name. Who has Wilder ever fought in 40 fights? A 50 year old Cuban with high blood pressure who was cycling off steroids is his prize fight and the fight he keeps mentioning to convince people how legit he is. Please! AJ has not ducked anyone. He's fought Brazeale, Whyte, Parker, Povetkin and Klitschko, that's 5 top 10's right there in less than 21 fights! Wilder fought 1 top 10 in 40 fights. How is this even a discussion? AJ offered Wilder 15 times a bigger payday than he has ever seen and somehow people have it in their head that AJ is ducking? So if a "champion" has 40 fights and his biggest pay day is $1.5 million and I come and offer that guy $20 million to fight me, I'm the one ducking him when he refuses? That's just madness. Nobody with any intelligence can justify something that stupid.

He was a naturally smaller guy fighting naturally bigger fighters. That's not taking anything at all away from Lewis, but when he should have given Vitali a rematch that was deserved he chose the easy way out (not the a cowardly way out though) and chose not to give it to him because he knew Vitali was a legitimate threat to his title. To me that's asterisk next to his name.
