So guess what, the State bar exam in certain diverse States if being slated for removal. Yep, there will now be a new system whereby newly graduated lawyers “apprentices” themselves to law firms, who then vouch for their competence in areas of law. What can go wrong? ;-)

      When I was at college, early 70s when we were not so "culturally insensitive " there was a woman, or is that birthing person, with a rock hard afro and we teased her about it being a wig, guess what we thought it was her hair until 2 years later it turned out to be a wig.
      As for barrister's wigs, afro headed numpties should just get a bigger one made, or bleach the own hair. If it is OK for islamists to claim everything tradition and therefore cannot be changed, so are court wigs and gowns!

    I recall when there was a big fuss about a certain symbol on a jam jar.We were told it was " racist " and we capitulated and removed the symbol.
    I recall a local cafe owner being told to re-print their menus without using the word " black" to describe coffee and pudding.Apparently complaints had been made.
    What happens if a Rastafarian gets a job on a building site and refuses to wear a protective helmet ? Do we allow Muslims wearing face coverings to cash cheques or drive a car,even though their vision is greatly impaired ?
    Personally I would feel happier if they were all told this is our law and we expect everyone to obey it !

      I had a similar discussion with a newly graduated nurse, she was complaining about the money, the hours, etc and I asked why she took the training without doing the most basic background checking on what the job entailed and the pay scale first, instead of going through the degree and being surprised the job would not fit around her lifestyle as she thought it should.

      @Jen-mf9rm He could have gone along with the current law of the country, which stated a crash helmet must be worn whilst riding a motorcycle. But preferred to go to court and get special consideration.
      He could have used a different form of transport or got a different job nearer his home. I think his actions were the beginning of the rot in this country.

    This is a farce. I used to enjoy wearing a wig and gown when working. If I’d had my hair permed so that my wig no longer fitted I’d’ve been given short shrift by the judge if I’d asked to be excused from wearing it.

      The 'inns of law' (sic) wouldn't have him. Apart from a lack of education, he said two years ago the 'inns of law' would be mostly Asian by now. Except, of course, they're not. He is also apparently unaware that Scotland and Ireland have their own courts and their own courts administration. I think he means England and Wales. Hard to tell, though...
