Maybe a stupid question but this doesn't work on the rear takedown pin right? Since you need to remove the detent spring from the rear?
Not stupid at all. No, this tool wouldn't be for the rear/takedown pin.
Rear pin removal/install is a different process and there is a way to remove it without undoing your receiver extension. You take a modified or cut down allen key basically. I think Brownells has/had a variant for sell or did sell. It's in the TDP manual also.
