    I have recently been interested in the history of Malawi, and found it fascinating how Lake Malawi was formed by the movement of the tectonic plates, and how Lake Malawi had more species of fish in it than any other country in the world. I then found this video you guys did, travelling there, which is what I want to do asap so i imagined myself in your shoes, being over there. I haven't cried in years because I almost never do, but a tear ran down my cheek at the end of this video, I have now found genuine care for Malawians. Thank you for this.

    For being someone who technically doesn't have a career in documentaries, this is a perfect example of how to visit a country without being condescending or speaking over the locals when it comes to their problems or engaging in "sorrow porn". Good job. Will be making a donation. ❤️

      Donal and Sophie, I'd like to meet with you and get your views on how we can change education forever in Malawi.
      Your documentary although fun and creative didn't hit the mark for me, you miss Europes role in pushing Malawi down to the bottom of the pile and the need for your countries to apologise and atone for your peoples greed, pillaging, and utter contempt for the Afrikan.
      Today Malawi pays for your luxurious lifestyles in the west, the "WORLD BANK" and IMF have most of Afrika economically enslaved, this is a slow Genocide we call "EcoCide".
      What can film makers like you guys do to REALLY CHANGE ANYTHING?
      HELP US GET THE REPAIRS DONE!!
      Reparations to our Dis-Education systems both in Europe and in Afrika.
      Interested?

    I appreciate how you showed that even though they have very little, they're still happy and thriving. I think a lot of the times we just say oh those poor people, they don't have anything, but in reality that's their normal and they find a way to be happy and live the best lives they can.

    Spent some time in Malawi now almost 14 years ago, on a health and medical visit. Your videos now look identical to mine then.
    These are very resilient and strong people, who face immense problems: drought, poor housing, little to no medical care or educational opportunity, and cultural issues which make it difficult for them to improve their conditions. Yet they are full of life, smiling, and welcoming people.
    I hope they are somehow able to get good government, decent schools, and international help which gets into the small remote villages rather than being mismanaged.
    Bless you for going and doing even a little bit for them, and Blessings for the People of Malawi.

    I love this mini-series, Donal. And Sophie, you brought such joy to the children. I have a question about the last village. You said they were happy that you visited them. But you also said they were hungry. I know that you were there to shoot a video that might inspire people to donate, and I am inspired to do so. But did you bring some basic food supplies to these villages, especially to the last village? Did they have the same hunger and despair when you left, as they had when you came?

      @superflyrico Před 7 lety

      Christie Dickens resilience is an understatement, Europe continues to steal from these people and yet documentary film makers go in and patronise the Afrikans.
      Funny how when Europeans where still living like cave dwellers Afrika had set up a civilisation for many hundreds of years.
      Please don't feel pity or look down at these people, DEMAND JUSTICE and help them repair a once might and progressive continent?

    • @christied6345
      @christied6345 Před 7 lety

      Rico Jakk at no point did I feel "pity" or "look down" at "these people" as you say. The feeling this video stirred in me was empathy, not pity. And if anything, I look up to them, not down on them.
