  • What do more golfers come to me asking for more than anything else... straighter golf shots, and thats why I wanted to create this video with some simple ideas on how to do just that.
    I recently ran a poll here on CZcams asking you what you wanted to see a video on and how to hit straighter golf shots came out on top.
    Whilst hitting straight shots may seem incredibly difficult, there are only 2 things that you need to control in order to give you shots that fly dead straight and over my 20 years coaching I have developed some simple techniques that will enable you to control these and hit those elusive straight shots.

    Great teaching Chris. It is NOT enough to simply say "do this." Explaining why something works is critical and you do it well. Thank you.

    Finally a video that actually helps slicer. Everyone other vid on YT is face, or grip. That's why 90% of golfers still slice? It's always because of path.

    Thanks Chris. That’s very insightful. I’m definitely snatching at the club in an effort to get shaft lean and hit down on the ball, and this is leaving my club face open and causing high shots to the right.

    Fantastic information!! Thank you! My irons tend to go straight most of the time but my wedges always go out to the right. I'm assuming that I just need to apply these principles to my wedge shots. If that's NOT the case, could you do a video on keeping wedge shots on target? Thanks again for your talent in teaching! These are great concepts for path and face .... but can you offer any insights into the fact that the swing arc is inclined such that the club will not only be traveling leftwards after the low point but also slight upwards. So, for instance, in teeing up a driver and one desires to make contact with a slightly ascending path, is that truly only possible with aa path that is moving leftwards at impact? How does one hit a draw with the driver (starting the ball right a little bit)?

    Hi Chris, I like the white alignment sticks you are using with the black center, with the white center line. Please share that brand or where we can purchase that one. Thank you!

  • @pohoresky
    @pohoresky Před rokem

    My big takeaway (correct me if wrong) is that you want the center of your body to match up with the bottom of the swing arc at impact and with irons that means in front of the ball a few inches. This entails hips that are downward facing target wise at impact and shoulders aligned along desired swing path at that point in time bearing in mind the swing is an arc.

    I Chris how about stopping it fanning open when taking it back 👍

  • @bjm1711
    @bjm1711 Před rokem

    All makes perfect sense - apart from the driver segment. If the driver head is two club heads back from the ball would this not mean that at impact the path would be ever so slightly out to in resulting in the ball heading off straight left - or maybe even slicing/fading
    Should we not set up with our target line slightly to the right with the hoped for result of a slight draw bringing the ball back into the centre of the fairway? I believe this is what John Rahm does?

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  Před rokem +2

      Yeah I probably could have explained that better. You are spot on that thr ball being up in the stance shifts the path more left, by setting the driver more back by rotating your shoulders you actually move your swing direction more out to the right to counter this, so it’s a trick to almost swing right and then with the ball being so far forward it then neutralises it and should result in straighter shots

  • @audreyjordan1727
    @audreyjordan1727 Před 25 dny

    I can’t wrap my mind around the driver segment. If we want to strike the ball when the club is in line with our sternum, a ball placed that far forward will be struck when the club is turning towards our left. You pointed this out but I don’t understand how you compensated for that.

    • @shrimpanzee8510
      @shrimpanzee8510 Před 22 dny

      You’re imagining a club affixed at the body turning with it. Account for the fact you can swing a club out toward the target and get more through the hitting “zone” and then around to behind your back for the correct feeling

  • @juan_gonzalez_s
    @juan_gonzalez_s Před rokem

    Chris, Why do we move the ball forward as we go from wedges to long irons? Wouldn't this mean that the club path is now towards the left?

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  Před rokem

      Hey Juan, yes as the ball moves in the stance it’s likely to change the club path, but we have to make that change to get the desired attack angle and launch conditions to make the flights usable

      Your advice on driving worked for me with setting up about 6inches behind the ball and then letting the natural swing path hit the ball. Wonderfull, But sadly I can,t get consistent swing to to compress the ball I duff it or top it more topping than anything, if I do make contact it goes up and 30 yards. I,m beyond frustrated, I hit my woods like a pro. I just want to throw my irons in the pond.
