Good tip for early money making: Do some smithing spam and make as many javelins as possible, all with maxed out length sliders. Then, smelt them all down, repeat this until you unlock higher tiered parts, use those, and then sell the occasional two or three for 1500 denars or more if possible.
After not very long, you'll unlock the highest tier of javelin parts, and with sliders still maxed out, these will sell for 10k denars each.
For higher tier crafting materials, buy pugio daggers and tribesman throwing daggers; as these can be smelted for steel and fine steel, allowing you resources to craft thosehigh tier javs.
It is a little grindy, but easy enough!
Good locations to sit and do this are any N. Empire town, or S. Empire town. And Battania lands for cheap hardwood, to make charcoal.

Oooh also, some good places to put your early skill points into, and get up to 5, are:
1h or 2h, whichever you prefer.
Smithing
Steward
Bow/throwing, whichever ranged you prefer.
Riding
Scouting
Charm

I just started too and am the Worst at commanding troops.. i do alot of f1,f3. Or f1,f2 instead of moving troops around. Any help would be great.
