What i loved about this episode was not the episode in itself but how much potential it has like, it could have been on the best cartoon episodes in history ??? All of this serie could be just incredible but this one thing here deserves a movie. If it wasn't made for kid, had a different creator and different writers that would be my favorite show ever. It's talking about teenager love, emotionnal neglect (neglect in general with Adrien/Chloe being abused), grief (death of Adrien's mother), negative emotions, heartbreaks ect..i'm not going to write a whole book but here's what i think about Chat Blanc :
Chat Blanc is the best villain that could exists in the serie. His design, his personnality, everything should have been great so that it impacts on the other episodes. Adrien is a victim of trauma, he has no social skills due to being home, his mother died and his father is abusive. Tho, he always try to see the positive side of things, he want to be friend with everyone, he wants to date Ladybug (tbh i don't think he likes Ladybug because she's his type but more like since she was the first to accept him so he felt in love). And then suddendly he realizes everything about her, he loves Marinette and they are finally together, isn't it great ? But no, cause he'll be tricked into some plot twist and discover his dad was the villain all along due to the lose of his wife. He's now between 2 options : doing the bad to bring his mother, doing the good and losing his father. Under all that pression his mind snapped and he turned into Chat Blanc going even more crazy than in the actual episode. Lady bug would have not succeded in her actual form to beat him and in a moment of exhaustion will Chat blanc make his final attack of rage, she turns into Marinette and hugs him saying "i'm sorry..". She then slowly destroys while Chat Blanc is processing, and at the last moment he takes her miraculous, put them on him and make his first and last wish, that everything go back to normal.
This, this in a 1h movie would have been SO MUCH interesting, so much exciting and emotionnal, but no. It's better to do a 20 minutes episodes that will stand out a bit. I'm very disappointed in the writter to have such great ideas and such a bad executing. I know the scenario i just made up suck too but at least i think it's still better than this "they can't reveal each other because of that so fuck off" thing. They can't even make the characters consistant, Gabriel was supposed to be a villain that was abusive despite still loving this son so what is this shit ??? Tbh i just wish that Marinette could move on about Adrien and that the show would begin to talk more about Adrien cause he's just so interesting. They could have made such a great thing frombit but they prefer doing 3 seasons (now 4) of a teenage stalker girl following a traumatized boy with her friends that she doesn't deserve.

You forgot to mention how abusive his father is. In eviltrator Hawk Moth was willing to hurt Nathanial just for magic jewellery. In Cat Blanc, Hawk moth was happy that his own son was his enemy. After that when they’re at the Eiffel Tower Hawk moth peer pressures him to get ladybug’s miraculous for him. Ladybug pressures him to resist because he’s Adrien.
in the episode where Luka first got the snake miraculous ladybug admitted that he was useless when she handed Adrien the snake miraculous. That stupid stalker girl only tried to not have him akumatised in cat Blanc because he is Adrien. I can’t believe I’m saying this but Chloe deserves him more because it makes logical sense they were childhood friends, he’s the only person who sees good in her, while the only reason why Marinette likes him was because he gave her a umbrella. Adrien and marinette honestly doesn’t deserve to be together. Adrien is too good for marinette.
Chole is a wasted character. She’s the only one who seems to have actual development but then she was reset
Well when your set around chsracters that the writer sees as "fine as is" having any character that comes off as doing better will stand out to the audience. The creator just wants a secondary villain and doesbt care what he has to do to get it, despite the fact he already has lyla

Chloe is the best character.
What I really hated about this episode was that it took the near perfect scene in Gorizilla where Hawk Moth orders Gorizilla to free Ladybug in order to save his son, thereby showing that he actually does love Adrien, and throws it in the trash, going "What if we just turned him into a generic villain who's willing to mind control his own son and just forget that Gorizilla episode ever happened?" Honestly, they took what was turned into a good, sympathetic villain, and basically turned it into one of Marvel's disposable just plain evil villains.
A pure evil cackling villain isn't bad, especially given the moster of the week formula, but they cajt go back and forth. Its like i said with SU or she ra you cant make the villain unredeemable and then pull out a sympathetic motive to make them justified, pick one or the other but the middle ground creates more problems than it fixes

I wouldn't have minded if Hawk Moth was pure evil, but I really liked how they made him more sympathetic, and I genuinely felt it added more to the show, and I just felt so disappointed when they took that away, so much so that I couldn't really focus because one of my favourite parts about it was how conflicted Hawk Moth was going to be when he found out Cat Noir's identity, and then it just tells us that he would just manipulate him, and that really disappointed me.

Exactly! I hated when they did that. Gabriel was actually shown to be a good character when they showed Gorizilla.
YES! I genuinely started to warm up to Hawkmoth after Gorizilla. He was still 1000% in the wrong and there was no excuse for what he was doing, and he was still toxic, but it made him a complex character and the fact that he still had a spot in his heart for his son despite being so villainous made me kind of interested in following his story. I didn't like him as a person but I really liked him as a character. In some episodes i almost wanted him to win to see how things would progress. Then Chat Blanc happened. I cannot stand him. I hope he loses. Like there's nothing redeemable for him now, he's my least favorite character in the show lol.

And the fact that chatnoir isn’t even a main character at this point makes the show even less interesting. You literally have the son of hawkmoth, a fashion model, the emotional trauma and instead they centered a girl with stalking type tendencies. It wouldn’t be a problem if they developed her character a bit more and other than the fact she’s a guardian now. But, the creepiness is honestly a bad influence for kids.😃
The shoe runners like to add increasing daek materal for adrien but then dont do anything with it. Whereas with Marinette they add increasingly fucked up character traits and leave them there for comedy and its just bizzar. Haveing them be actually devloped and not just lady bug would be so beneficial to the show

Never said she had to be perfect, in fact i give her a lot of leyway in that department but if the director is going to claim shes a positive role model for kids im going to scrutinize her accordingly. Not to mention that even if she is a teenager it does not excuse her or the people writing her for her being a creep. On fact it reflects badly on them and her parents if we extrapolate out far enough

I think the most romantic couple in this show are Tikki and Plagg. Seriously, thoses two have more chemistry than Adrien and marinette or him and Kagami X) Also, they are more likable and cute than Ladybug!

Here's the thing. Chat Blanc was a fan concept originally. It was a very beloved fan concept. A lot of artists and writers took that concept and created something new and amazing from it. There was so much care and thought put into those concepts. The fanon Chat Blanc was amazing. He had ya know, better designs, and he was a whole lot more intimidating. The stories accompanying it were well thought out and had some great writing.
So of course, they saw the brilliant success of that concept, ripped it off, stripped it of what made people like it, and threw it in the show for nothing more than cheap sock value filler. They took a well loved fan concept and ruined it for that. And I hate it. And the episode focussed more on Adrienette than Adrien. Even as Chat Blanc all he talked about was how much he loved her as if he cared about nothing else. We didn't see how his dad being HM affected him. At all. The episode was supposed to focus on him. And why did he say "our love did this to the world"? When did that happen? And if that was the reason, why does he want to get with her again after changing everything back? Not to mention the bad animation. The lighting and movement were not that great. It all felt very stiff. And the conflict was very contrived. So easily avoidable. And Chat Blanc wasn't even scary. And why was he getting beaten by Ladybug. He should be stronger than her. He's a miraculous holder who's power have been amplified and yet she was beating him. And don't get me started on the Bunnix thing.
TL;DR This is something that could have been done in a different way without ripping off a beloved fandom creation. In the end it was used as justification for why they can't reveal their identities because Chat Blanc uttered a half truth for the sake of dramatic dialogue. "Our love did this to the world" does sound more dramatic than "Hawkdaddy found out who I was and exploited it", I'll give you that.
I had no idea it was a fan idea, in hindsight it makes sense its literally just a flipped version of his current design but still. This just goes to show my point more at just how petty this man is about a show he made and the people who like it. Its such a waste of an idea or even an arch. Thats an idea go full on code lyoko and have chat blanc be a permanent akuema victim and have a senti monster as an adrian stand in. Devlope him and hawkmawth more just do something with it i mean god damn.
Its not like gabrial cant be himself with a butterfly is out we've seen that not be the case several times, most notably in the collector, so theres literally no other reason to do this than chasing the will they wont they plot and the lore of the miraculous

The only reason he got defeated is cause in the end he was outsmarted by Ladybug, if he was smarter he would've definitely defeated Ladybug, no sweat.
Eh, Chat Blanc is just a colour swap. Simulacrum was better. I do agree, the fanon stories with him are better but the design itself is just wasted potential. They show creators could have stolen something more creative. On the other hand I'm glad they didn't because they'd ruin it too.
I really hated how they made Gabriel physically abuse Adrien/Chat Noir (when he batted him like he was a baseball). Gabriel already abused him (emotionally) but this took the cake. Before this, the viewer could understand that Gabriel was just trying to cope and do what he could to deal with his wife's coma situation. It showed that while Gabriel was a sucky dad, he still cared. It was bittersweet and understandable, yet we still disliked Gabriel. It made him human and not a full villain, just a bad dad who was desperate to reunite his family. It's horrible but beautiful in a way?
But then he found out Adrien was Chat Noir and tried to use him?? And hurt him? He turned from an angsty villain to a complete soul-less man. It's so basic. It makes you feel even worse for Adrien, because his dad is so insane that his love for his own son is blinded by this fantasy world he's built up.
I mean the man literally tries to kill two teenagers every day its like he was rolling double sixes to begin with, my fucking problem is that they're trying to do both, you cant have him be sympathetic and a complete ass at the same time. If Gabrielle was actually good to Adrian I'd care more but hes just so mean snd calace it renders the whole thing moot. Its like i said with chloe, the trivial wrong doings is one thing but you dont then get to turn around and make them the joker just pick a lsin or do different kinds of villains.
I just realized chloe is gonna be the big final bad who has to be smacked because shes kinda a bitch, but Gabriel is gonna get redeemed... fuck i hate modern cartoons sometimes.

Awful! Cat Noir is getting zero screentime. He destroyed Chloe's character completely and replaced her by her half sister who only came to this show the episode before it.....and suddenly out of the bat she gets the bee miraculous and does a better job than Cat Noir......

Fucking thank you thats my problem. It was rushed to have a happy ending for miraculous queen and now it feels too late halfway into season 4
Miraculous is frustrating because it has so much potential, but it just doesn’t WANT to go for it. The whole show does what this episode does-give us something interesting, but never expand on it. I want to see character development...I want to see actual storylines they commit to...but it just feels like they never will. It’s a shame because the characters can genuinely be charming and the world we’ve seen from the show is really neat.

The writers can't decide if this show should have an overarching story or just be a sort of "villain-of-the-day, episodes-can-go-in-any-sort-of-order" type of show, and it's because of this indecisiveness that makes the premise that literally makes the show tick become borderline infuriating/unwatchable at a point of 3-4(5?) seasons, i literally do not get how you can screw up this badly

I can't stand this episode mainly because of how they did Hawkmoth dirty. He went from a complicated character that is trying to protect his son in a misguided way because he is traumatized by the loss of his wife to....just a one dimensional villain that is willing to sacrifice his son. After he was shown to be willing to drop his plans to protect his son when he suspected he was Chat Noir in a previous episode! It makes no sense. This show keeps accidentally making complex characters and then taking them away from us.

Exactly, like imagine someone BREAKING INTO YOUR HOUSE. then SNIFFING YOUR BED. Uhm. Marinette’s crush for Adrien is supposed to be “cute” because she’s the main character but it’s weird and stalker-ish. Cat Blanc could have been way more detailed if they took time to make it into a 2 part episode and wrote the story throughly. Anyways you had some great points btw.

The whole reveal thing in cat blanc is just bad writing. Everyone wants a reveal and for the story to go forward so they just write a episode where we get it but it's back to normal at the end again. Fan service is good but not this cheap kinda writing where everything just gets erased again and just existed in this one episode for fan service.
Yes! This something that annoys me too. They should stop making fan service episodes like Oblivio and Chat Blanc that are totally unrelavant to their realitionship and actually work on it

Can't compare KP to this show, because in KP ron and kim were friends for YEARS, basically all their lives. So when they did become a couple it only improved it. Marinette and Adrien don't even have the luxury of being actual friends, and when they're heroes they can't even talk about their personal lives.
There's this writing practice called, "Kill your Darlings" where you really like an aspect of your story but have to remove it because it only hinders the overall narrative or character. Thomas's darlings are always reverting back to the status quo no matter what. Marinette is always pining for Adrien; Adrien is oblivious and we're given hints that he may have feelings for Marinette; Hawkmoth always is planning; and Chloe is portrayed as the worst person in Paris. This show really doesn't know how to balance the episodic monster of the week and an overarching plot. Heck, hawkmoth is still a villain and it's already 4 seasons in!
I was using kim and ron as the golden standard basically, I'm in no way implying they're anywhere on that level.
And yeah thomas as a rather unhealthy obsession with keeping things going in perpetuity for no real reason other than padding. It doesn't matter how much you progess the "plot" if no one grows or changes durring it. Its like having a really well made bstch of brownies but throwing them out to try again tomorrow before anyone can tell you its good or not. All your gonna fo is irritate people
I remember when Cat Blanc first came out. Everyone around me said it was amazing, but I was iffy about it. I watched this video, and every single point I agree with wholeheartedly!

One of my problems with thomas is how he refuses to completely develop Cat noir. His reason is that it's a girls show.
Well lets look at show written much better than MLB like Kim possible which had a female protagonist and boy as a sidekick.
Kim was the main heroe but the writters nevee forgot about ron. He wasn't the most skillful fighter at the beginning but the show always showed why their dynamic worked. Heck the episode "The Ron Factor" explain exacly how their dynamic worked.
Ron got episodes dedicated to him and heck got a freaking profecy about him. But guess who was still the main character? KIM POSSIBLE.
With MlB cat is useless af. The show is always saying how cat and lady bug are equals but what happens in the show is completely different.
Name on your fingers how many villains cat has defeated by himself. You cannot trust me. Cat is only there to destroy akuma objects which lady bug has shown that she can do by herself anyways.
Like there's an episode where she soloes a group of villains and a mind control chat by herself.

I used kim and ron as a way to do this whole thing, and while the show is named after kim I'd argure he's on the same level of protagonist as kim because he has all of those same growing moments she does but in a more comedic sense.
Lady bug is just over powered because plot armour, chat is just tgere for joked and fun but without what made ron or anyone else in his position worth a damn, doing anything to help. I feel like if they didnt have him show up for a while we wouldnt notice.
I could talk about this but really most people have this idea in their head already so the only way to make it intresting is if i refute it or bring up mr. Bug as a counter point

I liked the concept of cat blanc, and this kind of "what if" episode was bound to happen. But there's a lot of things I hate about it's writing. First of, they definetly should've made it 2 episodes as you said.
The love square and Adrien's reaction was really weird and out of place when he discovered Ladybugs identity like "oh Marinette is Ladybug so I love her i guess" plus he didn't even try to make sure he had proof of that.
The scenes where they were dating where really not that cute in my opinion. Most probably because I am very bored of the relationship of our MCs, and the only ship i'm ok with is Marichat. Also they should've put more detail in their relationship.
I still don't get why they can't reveal their identities? Like the whole mess could've been avoided if they just dated in secret or when Gabriel asked them to break they could've continued dating in secret. Btw there's so many negative emotions in Paris, so why does he have to ruin his sons happiness to akumatize someone?

Honestly everything felt rushed and out of character and throwing out basically the whole organic dev of the relationship and how they have to love every aspect of each other first.
The whole point of that ep is to explain why they can't reveal their identities, but it didn't even managed to do that.
Maybe if at least the plot was better written and like even if they kept their relation a secret Hawkmoth realises something changed and when he discovers the identities he has a reaction that is a bit more in character or we see him going completly crazy and like losing his mind instead of just kicking his soon onto the Eiffel tower.
You nailed it here, the episode is so rushed and so poormy thought out that getting anything out of this was impressive however it still sucks.
I say the relationship stuff is cute because im a big old softy for stuff like that. And its also just SOMETHING sbout their relationship.

In a Miraculous fanfic I wrote, the only lasting consequences of Chat Blanc travelled through the Ladybug. Ladybug returned to their time but was worse for it because they saw their worst fear realized in a Paris that was destroyed and a friend that was permanently damaged by Hawkmoth to the point where the akuma couldn't even be removed anymore.
In the end, Ladybug saved their friend and returned everything back to normal, but in the process had to realize they Bunnyx was using them to erase this timeline permanently her included and Ladybug had to return to a present where they were the only one who knew about the worst possible outcome and has to carry the weight of that loss with them. But it doesn't go away in an episode, Ladybug is taken out of school because of the injuries they sustained, they're haunted with nightmares, and they even have a breakdown when they see Bunnyx again realizing it's a new bunnyx from a new timeline.
In the show you could skip over Chat Blanc and it would not matter.
That does add so much to the stakes but this is kids tv so we cant get that. I'd kill for that but ratings are weird.

More than just that: the thing that bothered me the most about this episode was that it solidified just how STUPID it is that they don't know each other's identities. This became a problem BECAUSE their identities were revealed without their agency being involved in the decision to do so. You know how that gets solved? You tell each other in a trusted location in a moment of calm, without imminent threats.

The fact that now, in season 4 instead of us learning more about Chloe (who DESERVES JUSTICE) and Adrien, who have an emotional and interesting backstory and life, we're just seeing Marinette like 99% of the time. Don't get me wrong, i love the fact they showed us her emotional and damaged side too, makes her more realistic than that girl who replayed the "Adrien" ad for 100 times, but it's just instead of focusing on what the fandom is asking for and wanting, they are doing the COMPLETE opposite.

I have seen fan comics better than the episode. Where chat Blanc becomes insane and protects Marinette not cause of love but because she is ladybug. It would’ve been cool to see more of him akumatized like illustrator
Criticism 2 of the show:
Lost most of my faith with the writers. We will never get a well written miraculous season it seems. Here are some of my opinions on his writing:
1- How Ladybug’s lucky charm works is stupid and many times it’s just plot convenience instead of it being smart and in no way shape or form I am biased against Marinette/Ladybug because she’s one of the three characters I care about the most in this show ( Adrien, Marinette and Kagami ) and she’s the other half of my favorite ship ( the square ). It’s stupid because it doesn’t actually work but the show pretends it works. There are very rare episodes where the lucky charm is actually smart and creative, very very rare. Not to mention the writers made her use it even when it’s not needed. Like in episode Ladybug, the lucky charm gave her a fork so she can slide it on glass to make noise and distract Mayura but Cat Noir was there having sharp claws ready to be used easily. In Evilillestrator when she summoned a ball that for some reason bounced to hit every light in the room ( plot convenience) when she easily and more believably could have hit every light with her yo yo. There are many times when the things she put together will never work simply because it’s against every physics law out there but it does which only can be described as plot convenience or luck which is not creative as the show is trying to pretend it’s luck and magic and therefore anyone should be able to do it.
2- Cat Noir has sharp claws , super hearing and night vision but the writers barely care to utilize any of them because they are only interested in pandering to Ladybug. Like the example I used before in the episode Ladybug where his claws were a perfect weapon but the writers pretend they don’t exist. The times they remember they exist they make his claws fail in doing any damage like in Captain Hardrock or Anansi. Cat Noir can destroy Akumas which was proven in Cat Blanc so the excuse of only Ladybug being able to stop an akuma is false. The thing with Cataclysm is that the writers don’t even stick to its own description that was written by them. They downplay cataclysm all the time. Supposedly it’s supposed to destroy anything with one touch yet when sentimonsters appeared we thought finally , an opponent that Cat Noir can actually use Cataclysm on because they are objects not humans but surprise surprise, I should have known the writers would never give him that even when their own rules and description of Cataclysm makes this fact stupid🤦🏻♀️ Another thing , since Cat Noir can only touch objects with Cataclysm because he doesn’t want to hurt humans , it is really weird that Ladybug can destroy things as big as the Effel tower with her yo yo ... she can break something as hard and thick as Time Breakers roller skates with a simple knee move not needing cataclysm for any of that. Then in episodes like party crasher she throws him glasses to break with Cataclysm 🤦🏻♀️ how stupid is that? Are you going to tell me that’s not bad writing? Why is Ladybug so strong that she can destroy or break huge stuff with her yo yo and break hard thick things on her knee ( she broke Cat Noir’s freaking baton on her kneee in Cat Blanc 🤦🏻♀️) ? What’s the point of Cat Noir being destruction is beyond me when the writers pander to her so much they forgot to balance the powers and follow their own rules. 🤦🏻♀️
3- I have nothing against women saving men. I love Wonder Woman. I love her relationship with Steve. The difference is , Steve is not a superhero partner that is always downplayed and humiliated so Wonder Woman and any other new superhero that decided to join her shine on his expense. Steve is a normal human and yet he still shined besides her. This show fails completely at writing partners. They show us yin and yang , both are superheroes but the show constantly downplays and humiliates the boy many times writing him completely out of the fight so others can shine on his expense. In Chameleon, they made him sleep the whole episode, they made him freaking give his cheek to the akuma knowing fully that this way she will take his powers ... no human would give his cheek to someone they want to stop. Any human no matter how stupid he is will push that person with their hands. Heck, he could have easily extended his baton and just strikes her away which would have saved Ladybug and him and now they have an akuma in a child’s body easy to defeat. The writers just wanted to get rid of him 🤦🏻♀️. In episode Evilillestrator when he and Marinette get stuck inside a cube again the writers make him stupidly poke the glass ... who would do that? The first reaction of any human and even animals when you cover them with something is to push up ... 🤦🏻♀️ they needed Marinette to girlsplain to his very limited brain apparently how to use his own baton to do something as simple as pushing up the cube ..... After all that they make a whole episode just to downplay his role and call his job “easy” when he’s the bait and the shield. Pandering at its worst.
4- Chloe gets a two parter special and another three parter special about her while Adrien didn’t even get a two part special about his own Akumatization and he’s a freaking main character not a side character. In weredad Adrien didn’t even get to win! Marinette saved herself without her powers while Adrien was beaten to a pulp by her father🤦🏻♀️
This episode was so bad I can’t even. Marinette lied about loving him then acted as if her world got destroyed over a lie , made her father get Akumatized and beat Cat Noir to pulp ( as usual the writers downplayed him here and made him get beat up instead of win while they made Marinette win even without her powers) . Or Style queen, where Adrien was completely written off the episode by being turned into a golden statue and then plagg gets to put him down and call him the most irresponsible partner ever. 🤦🏻♀️ In Reflektdoll the writers even dared going as far as calling her job hard and he can do nothing without her but his job is easy and she can do both her job and his at the same time. 🤦🏻♀️ Yeah his job is very easy , how insulting is that when the dude is practically her shield and bait 🤦🏻♀️ Puppeteer 1 when as usual Cat Noir was controlled along with others and Ladybug defeated them all along with Cat Noir and the Akuma. I mean the writers brought a hero from the future to gush over how amazing and cool Ladybug is while scold Cat Noir about destroying her miraculous and how he was about to do it all over again in the present time. I mean it’s not enough they downplay him and humiliate in the present episode, they actually brought a hero from the future to do it while gushing about Ladybug for good measure.
5- When Ladybug screws up something the writers always make her rise up again and correct that mistake and save the day proving herself beyond doubt while when Cat Noir screws up it’s mostly Ladybug that gets to correct things and save the day not Cat himself .Even in copy Cat Cat Noir was humiliated and Ladybug uncaringly told him the copy is better at being Cat Noir than the original and he asked her not to rub it in🤦🏻♀️
6- Adrien/Cat Noir has always been kept away from the lore by the writers which is really annoying and borders on bad writing and wasted potential. Even when he found the Book in his father’s hidden safe behind his mother’s painting the writers purposely kept him away from the lore , I mean Plagg a kwami didn’t recognize the peacock miraculous and didn’t think much of the book itself. Adrien thought more of the book than Plagg but then of course it was stolen got to Marinette and Marinette got to know the lore without Adrien. It’s too frustrating that they rob him of every potential big development. Master Fu never thought of including Adrien/Cat Noir in anything. Even the one thing he included him in ( the different power variations) was done after Marinette pestered him about it because Cat Noir was feeling useless and left out of everything. When I saw Master Fu going in as Adrien’s Chinese instructor I was so thrilled! I mean the tension of him going there always while Hawkmoth is in the same house teaching Adrien about the lore like he does with Marinette but no , the writers couldn’t have it and again ruined a perfect plot of tension and just dropped it like it never existed.
I cant go through every point because this is so well said and so well thought out but let me hit some big ones, or rather the big one.
You're entierly right the show always gives her plot armour and makes him the dumbass for no reason, the show qluld be better served if he was aloud to be and actual character and think and feel and do things, but no we can't do that. He's kept at arms reach by everyone especially his partner and its just bad. I said before i havent seen season 4 but even i know the threw out the whole keeping screct identities thing and yet he still is kept in the dark, its annoying.
He's only here because hes in the title, it feels like Thomas liked the idea of writing a male female dou where the female is more prominent but then forgot to balance them in a way that made sense and now hates Adrian bit cant get rid of him without A completely messing up the show and B having everyone flip all the tables at him. The complete neglect of Adrian is one of the shows biggest faults and its a shame when he's definitely the most intresting person in the cast

Unpopular opinion I don't like master fu he was just there to be like marinette go find a stranger to get a miraculous and return it to me when your done like what was his purpose pretty wise to me to run away when things get hard for you and you have to face your own challenges
Honestly if they had the reveal then they instantly got together I can just see the drama of them realizing they like stylized versions of eachother, not the actual person in front of them, and just them having to work through learning more about eachother and superhero stuff it would just be amazing

It’s a waste to barely develop such a layered and complex character and downplay all the themes surrounding him by presenting it in 2 to 5 minutes every 12 episodes. He’s a main character that’s treated like a side character... sometimes worse. I still can’t forgive the writers for Reflektdoll specially when they branded his job as”easy”. Adrien finds the miraculous book but Marinette is the one who learned about the lore. Master Fu didn’t care to eve build a relationship with Adrien nor cared to guide him in anyway, he only cared about Marinette. They never allow him to grow as a superhero and just exists so Marinette can tell him when to use his cataclysm or how to use his stick or to make mistakes but the writers never allows him to correct and shine above those mistakes . It’s very weird that they made sure they put him down even as an adult superhero where Bunix gushes over Ladybug and puts down Cat Noir for his mistakes ( telling us not to even dream about a better treatment because it’s still the same in the future). It’s very weird how they made sure to send this message by letting Ladybug question Bunix and say “If I am so great then why do we have a villain like that from the future “ and Bunix’s answer is “It wasn’t your fault it was Cat Noir’s” .... I don’t think I have ever watched or read such weird writing just for the sake of pandering.If the writers sidelined Adrien even in the Agreste plot and the whole HM thing I think it will be the last straw for me.
How is it that making a superhero that is barely ever allowed to shine a good thing? Specially after the yin yang symbolism? He has to suck so she could shine and that’s just cheap pandering to Ladybug. They gave him night vision , super hearing and smelling , sharp claws and cat like reflexes yet they never let him use them. Ladybug summons a fork with her lucky charm to slide on glass and distract villains when Cat Noir is right there just looking with his sharp claws that could have don the job without her lucky charm. He has the cat like reflexes yet she’s the better physical fighter that always wins with better reflexes even against him. They make her the smart one, they make her the creative one , they make her the leader, they make her the stronger one , they make her the one with more powers , they make her the one with all the decisions ... they make her the brain and the strength... what is left for him?! Where is the yin and yang? This has been happening since season 1, it’s not new . It’s just worse. Now they are taking him completely out of fights and making more incompetent than when he first started as a hero... how is that good?! It’s not. The writers told me something but they are presenting something different to me.I came to watch a superhero show with partners, two main characters that are supposedly yin and yang. That’s not what I’m watching, specially when Cat Noir is treated worse than a sidekick.
This is absolutely on point. He's only there to make her look good, to be the goofus and its sad it just annoying and frankly a waste of a good character. Chat has so much potential both as a hero and a fighter but they focus on two aspects of him, his flirting and his depression at being an anuse victim (even though they dont actually do anything to fix the abuse). Hes smart clever funny and a strong person but because Thomas wants this to be a girl's show he puts chat down rather than making them equal. He's basically there to be a wore version of ron from kp, at least ron was brought along because kim needed him and wanted him around, if chat was not set up to be a main stay im 90% sure LB would have just given the cat ring to alyia at this point.
Why does this show keep giving me reasons to hate it
Because much like Steven universe, she ra, and Castlvaina it has an amazing premise with really good characters but is hindered by the dumbass in the drivers seat not capitalizing on it.
She ra has a great main plot but a bad romace plot because catra gaslights abuses and seges war on adora directly but also, but not limited to, kidnapping and tourchering glimmer, reseting time to get adora back, causing the queen of bright moon to sacrifice herself, and sending out the becon to let hord prime know where to go. Any notion of catra and adora went out the window in season 3 but the show kept going with it to the point its what saves adora in the finale. Just, no i refuse to say thats a good healthy relationship

I was so upset with chat blanc. It had so much potential. It’s CHAT NOIR who gets AKUMATIZED. He’s one of the main miraculous holders, his akumatization should be so much more impactful but they just made it a filler. Most of the episode wasn’t even ABOUT chat noir, maybe 5 minutes were spent with the traumatizing events with his father, and the rest was adrinette and bunnyx. Not only that, but he never actually got akumatized, it was a theoretical future that marinette had to avoid. It would’ve been WAY better if it was a 2 part episode, and actually impacted the main story. It’s CHAT NOIR for crying out loud, they completely ruined the concept and potential. Huge miss on the writers part.
Completely, although knowing how much of a hack thomas is he'll just tey it again under a different color like chat rouge or something

Honestly, the part I hated the most on watching this episode was that they completely erased Hawkmoth/Gabriel's compassion and empathy. They turned him from a "sympathetic villain" to a "pure evil villain" just so that they can have the worst of the worst happen in this episode. I legitimately don't care about the romance between Marinette and Adrien or Ladybug and Chat Noir because with the way Marinette is written I'm just like "fuck this" But backtracking on a character's development or rewriting their characteristics (*cough* Chloe *cough*) is an absolute sin and doing that to Gabriel, who in earlier episodes we see trying to build a stronger connection to his son, trying to keep his son safe *even denying the chance his son is Chat Noir for a moment*, and in general showing compassion, empathy and good will and then fucking that up just so the kitty boy can brood after destroying the world is such awful writing and it's an insult to the character and fans of the character.
About Marinettes stalking, Idk if you has watched the 2nd movie (or one of them), long story short - SHE HAS A F*CKING TRACKING APP FOR ADRIEN (and btw was completly confused that she dont know about his journy to shanghai cause she (and yea - she said that by HERSELF) know EVERYTHING about him (and if Isay everything I mean EVERYTHING).
About Chat Blanc : Feeled more like a Fanfiction (if you know the several different comicfanfictions even more)than an normal episode, espaccily with all the timetravelling.
A good example for how you do a great timetravelling thing in a show is in my oppinion Ninjago s7 cause it maked nearly absolutly sense or gravity falls (if there are more episodes than the one I saw featuring this element I didnt saw them yet, just saw one episode where a time traveller is in and it just was fun, but though it was fun it was great written and fit perfectly with the normal show (I mean the show itself is absolutly crazy so that is maybe not fair if you compare it with chat blanc but I just think that it still shows good how to deal with timetravelling).
How it could be better :
- no time travelling
- 2 parts
- make it like oblivio (so just only focusing on the aspect of chat blanc and dont do these "how did this happen ?, that's the reason or maybe that ?", or do it at least just like oblivio in the end, NEVER do that in the beginnning, only if you just wanna make it fun (what Gravity falls did, again, perfectly)

And for Chat Blanc yes it does feel ver fanfic in nature, it tries to fit a way to complicated story into a normal breezy runtime and it doesnt work. I love oblivio because of the way its paced and how it does the retcon, and yeah ripping it off here would have been perfect. I have my own issues with the gravity falls timetravel episode (Mable) but it still stuck to its own rules and was somewhat funny, this is just so needless.

I’m so mad how inconsistent they’ve made Gabriel’s character. We all talk about Adrien getting his rightful development but Gabriel desperately needs development as well!
Also him akumatizing Adrien makes no sense?? What about Gorizilla when he even suspected his son was Char but feared for his life, and still had no intention of akumatizing him despite his suspicions. Yes he’s a shitty father and I’m not trying to justify his actions, in fact Gabriel should be hated for what he’s done but for the love of god give him consistent development- he’s a MAIN character!
Also Gabriel’s motive doesn’t connect with the audience because we’ve never seen what his relationship was like with his wife. Provide some exposition to what they were like together, show some interaction, it will give us exposition we need to understand the mindset of Gabriel’s character.

I dont think yhe villain needs development, sure backstory and motivation are fine but his development should be non existant. He's not trying to grow or change he has a singular goal that could destroy the world. Villains arent characters theyre a vehicle for the heros journey not their own person. The problem is the writers think giving Gabriel screen time means hes devloped and basically tell Adrien to go die because girl power ig.
@@ThinkBoxChris He has to have development to get from what he was in Gorizilla to what he was in Chat Blanc. He went from caring about his son to not caring. A lil' peek at his descent further into madness would be nice, otherwise it's just inconsistent writing.
They've already written him as having a sympathetic soft spot for his son. When it suddenly doesn't exist anymore without giving a reason why, it feels out of character and contrived. They either need to keep this one sympathetic aspect of his character in place, or show that he has become so desperate and narrow-minded and evil that he doesn't care about his son anymore, thus removing the soft spot entirely. None of this back and forth stuff.
Gabriel has always been ratger abusive in a mother gothel way, the difference is that he acts this way because he fucked up and got his wife put into a coma for using a broken magic broch. I mean look at Natalie, shes basically repeating that exsact story beat.
He can say he live Adrian all he wants but "hurtting for the right reasons" is still hurting someone, let alone your own child.
I will give this episode one tinie tiny bone in that we don't know how long the events of the flash backs take place (although that just goes to show their weakness as a story telling device and explains why this should have been a two parter, but i digress). It could be a week it could be a month it could be a year, so we dont know how long hes known their identites or how long hes been festering his rage at Adrians disobedience. Its deffentitly bad writing but ill give the credit we dont know how long hes known, and thats the problem.

After re watching chat blanc I have come to the conclusion that Adrienette is very dangerous. Gabriel agreste has total control over their relationship and since he wants to akumatize Marinette he can easily stop Marinette from seeing Adrien as seen in chat blanc to akumatize her. And basically the chat blanc episode repeats with Adrien going to save Marinette from the akuma with transforming right in front of her causing Gabriel to find out Adrien identity and so on.
Its dangerous for a lot of reasons but this is a big candidate for it

and yea, she should've been redeemed, her character was suddenly fucked up for no reason. She was clearly showing slow growth (finally after like 15 episodes of people telling her how to be better and she seemingly understanding all of that), she was acting more like a "tsundere" already, she wasn't even being evil, just petty and really admiring of ladybug. Then she got her trust betrayed just so that her half-sister could take her spot in the later season...

Truly… Miraculous’s whole reset mechanic allows the writers to pretty much create whatever fan fiction they want without any foresight on how it’ll fit in the narrative.

You hit the nail on the head why this episode does not work. This episode tries to be a more emotional punch to the gut, but in reality it’s more of a slap to the face...in fact, it IS a slap in the face. Thomas has stated at one point that this was meant to show why the two can’t be together and it was, and I quote, “the opposite of fanservice”. This entire episode was meant to say “no! These two can’t be together, because it’ll cause the end of the world” and does it by having the main hero go against what her kwami says, and not only caused her partner to be akumatized, but end up destroying the city she swore to protect. And while they’re at it, take away any sympathy I ever had for Gabriel from gorizilla, Santa claws, style queen and queen wasp, and startrain by making him yeet his son like a softball and give him a mental breakdown, and expecting US to believe he’d be as cruel as Gendo Ikari. This is what’s going to happen if they end up together, and we dare not question it because they said so. I won’t say this is the worst episode in the series. Battle of the miraculous, Chris master and stormy weather 2, frightningale, they seem more insulting.
As for Thomas, I made a video about how he handled the criticism towards Chloe’s arc, and any bit of respect for him I had was removed when he likened Chloe defenders to abuse victims....I’m not kidding.

Amd yeah exsactly the entire point of the episode is a petty way of saying no in the most way possible by nuking all of pairs. I think its the worse because of the level of effort put into telling your fans to fuck off is appalling. I personally like the other episodes you mentored as worse for one reason or another. Samta claws knows how dumb it is so it runs with the concept, frightning gale is just an intresting concept for a villains powers and the other two are decent not great but decent. This episode is just... mean.

Honestly I've given up on Chloé getting a redemption. Not because I don't want one, but because I have literally zero faith in her getting one at all, let alone a coherent one. Thomas has already let his biases seep into the writing. I'm one who tends to defend Marinette as I don't think she's completely to blame for the way she's written either, I think Thomas Astruc should take most of it.
I'm not saying Chloé and Marinette are saints and both of them have made horrible mistakes and done some nasty things in canon, but that's WHY I like them. They're 14-15 years old they're supposed to be dumb, teenagers do dumb things because they don't have the cognitive mindset to completely realize what they're doing.

If I had to sum this show up in one sentence, it would be “a plate of plot thread spaghetti”.
See, that’s the biggest pull and flaw of this show. Its harmatia, if you will. It has so many interesting ideas and concepts, but lacks the interest to develop them further. The Love Square, Team Miraculous, akumas, the Miraculous themselves, the elemental powers, fusions... the writing team are good at MAKING ideas. They just suck at carrying through with them.
Team Miraculous is the one that pains me the most. I was so onboard with the idea of there being 5 Miraculous Heroes working as a team. I thought that going into S3 we would see the other three heroes a lot more often. Alya and Nino would get fleshed out as they become heroes, and Chloe would get her redemption arc. But then Viperion happened. And then Ryuko happened. And then King Monkey happened. And then Pegasus came along...
What’s more, the S2 heroes were just... forgotten about. These three had so much potential, and could’ve played a key role in the defeat of Hawk Moth. But Alya and Nino were unmasked, and Chloe’s character was banished to the bowels of Hell by Thomas. And even though Rena and Carapace are still active, they still just feel like cheap set pieces. Not characters. And as much as I like Vesperia, I would be lying if I said that I didn’t miss seeing Queen Bee in action.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There’s so many other plot points and concepts that I could write entire essays on, they have that much wasted potential. Chat Blanc, I think, perfectly encapsulates the main problem with this show: we go NOWHERE. We’re always stuck in the mud, grasping at straws while the writers (namely Thomas) flick breadcrumbs in our faces.
I will always have a place in my heart for this show. It’s what got me into writing and drawing again. But I just... don’t love it as much as I used to. Anyways, fantastic vid. You my good friend have just earned a new subscriber.
Great concepts no momentum. Its like thomas only took one semester of a creative writing class where you come up with a single idea for a story and then try a new one later but never learned how to carry them forward.

She constantly lets her personal biases cloud her decisions (Miracle Queen anyone?), constantly puts down Chat Noir, constantly contradicts her own rules (see Gang of Secrets. I won’t spoil it, but what she does is really shitty, at least in my opinion), abuses her powers for her own gain (something Fu EXPLICITLY told her not to do), treats her “teammates” like they’re Pokémon, and is a liar- which is funny, since SHE HATES LIES.
Then there’s Marinette’s stalking, but I can rant about that until I’m blue in the face. And I don’t want to have you read an entire essay about my opinions on a kids show lmao
My point is, I still want to love this show. I do. But with every contrived plot point, with every bizarre writing decision, with every repeat akuma, with every episode... I feel another little piece of the fangirl in me die inside.

Literally we are introduced to luka and mari dating and HM fixing the peacock miraculous out of nowhere. It would've been way better if they would've just started dating at the end of season 3, then at the end of season 4 broke up. It would've made their relationship seem way more real and not last minute. Same with kagami and adrien. And with HM fixing the pk miraculous, in season 3 we could've seen him trying to find a way to fix it (in foreshadowing) it would've made everything feel way more planned imo.
Yeah the show has no idea where its going but that not necessarily bad, that can work well enough in bursts, but here its jyst insulting sometimes

I don’t really admire the writing in the show as much as I used to, they’ve ruined many characters and lost opportunities among the way.
For instance, marinette was really interesting to me in season 1 and season 2, i thought that she wasn’t a Mary Sue like most protagonists and that she was very relatable among the audience(I could relate to her a lot). What ruined her for me was the terrible writing in season 3 when they starting making her follow him to his house, break into his house and many other things. Long story short they made her quite creepy. I still love marinette and I think the writing in season 4 (so far) is brilliant, marinette isn’t doing anything out of the ordinary; but the main problem I think the writers messed up with marinettes character is making her obsessed with adrien instead of just having a crush. I’m glad they toned it down in season 4.
As for adrien, I feel like he had quite a lot of potential making him interesting with his background and everything, but instead just made him a boring character. He is nice, everybody love him; etc, Like he doesn’t do anything interesting other than staying in his room and we don’t know much about him either like we don’t know his hobbies. Sure we know he does fencing, attends Chinese lessons, he’s a pianist but I wish he was a character like felix or how the original mlb anime portrayed him as, where he was much cold. I mean his background is interesting so why not include that into his character? I would have preferred adrien much more if they had gone and made him quite cold and I think that would’ve give him a lot of potential to be interesting(for me)
I feel like Chloe’s development speaks for itself, but I’ll add my thoughts anyway. So in season 1 she was a typical bully; nothing too interesting in that but in season 2 everything changed. I loved the way they made her nicer, gave her a miraculous; I even loved the way they had shown how she was raised taking account in her actions. I’m season 3 the first half was alright, I noticed that from season 1-2 she had much more screen time which was not included in season 3. When we saw her in miraculer I was really happy from the writing. I mean she resisted an akuma, and even accepted the fact that she wouldn’t be able to have the bee miraculous(for a while)on the other half of season 3 and especially in the finale they completely ruined her. Like they made her a villain and everything it was honestly stupid and made me so mad. Now I’m season 4, we see that the writing is so messed up; I fucking hate that they made Chloe act like a worser person than who she was in season 1, making her unfriend adrien(which honestly broke my heart) what’s even worse is that the writers had the audacity to literally add a character out of the blue which made Chloe worse and it still makes me so mad that they treated her so horribly

I agree so much with your last point. What I really hate about Chat Blanc is that it's so... useless in the long run. Like I don't consider it canon because its existence doesn't matter. And it's so different than just having Lady Wifi or the pigeon man be the villain again. Despite not knowing how it happened, Marinette/LB saw that something terrible happened with Chat and that the world was destroyed because of it. That is something that she should think about again! That should be on her mind! Even if the dumb episode stays as it is, it could at least been a starting point to change how LB interacts with Chat, just because seeing him as the white kitty was so traumatic for her. But no. It does literally nothing for her or anyone.
And I feel like everyone acts OCC in that episode. I can't imagine that Adrien/CN wouldn't tell LB that he knows her identity, since her trust is something that is so important for him. And I'll admit that I'm a Gabriel fan (he is an interesting character and a great villain) but him fucking yeeting his son away like a baseball is nothing how he ever acts with Adrien. But how/if Gabriel loves his son of course is another thing Thomas can't make his mind up about so why am I surprised.
Anyway, I hate Chat Blanc, Chloe deserves better and I hardly give a fuck about the whole Love Story between the main characters anymore. All I want to know is more about the mysterious villain.
The villain will probably be lyla or chole at this point.
The romance only matters to me because im a romance fan and the show has put so much fucking time into it that i just want it to move foward.

Better chat Blanc:
Bunnix notices a timeline in which things go horribly wrong (Via her current self not existing because Chat destroys Paris before she gets her Miraculous or something) and enlists a younger ladybug in order to help her. But because of some time rules Bunnix can't directly tell her how to solve the problem or it could change the future for the worse so all she can do is lightly nudge LB in the right direction from her post in the burrow. Ladybug enters the dystopian Paris and is shocked at the state of her beloved city. Instead of the boring destroyed and half underwater city lets change it up. Paris is under Hawk Moth's complete and utter control, half destroyed beyond recognition and half covered in Akumatized citizens roaming the streets causing mayhem or looking for a mysterious person named Chat Blanc.
My story for this version of Paris is that LB and CN have suspicions about Agreste Manor from something an Akuma/sentimonster mentioned during a fight. (Which makes Adrien uneasy) They manage to get into the underground sanctuary or whatever after investigating the place, but don't get too far before they're stopped by HM. A fight ensues and Chat manages to break away and see the coffin of his Mother. Which he accidentally lets slip to HM who then reveals himself to be Gabriel. The shock of his own Father being HM sends him into a spiral and Gabriel, in a desperate attempt to fix things, tries to recruit Adrien to his side, to help make his wish of brining back his Mother a reality. But being in a state of anger (Since all this time the man he's bene trying to reconnect with and feel sympathy for has actually been his arch nemesis torturing Paris) Chat tries to kill HM who, in a last ditch effort, reluctantly akumatizes him thus creating Chat blanc. But what Gabriel didn't expect was Chat turning from an obedient puppet into a walking nightmare who accidentally in his bout of rage kills Ladybug, who he finally sees is Marinette, and runs off feeling guilt for his actions. Now Chat is on the run and HM is searching for him.
Not knowing any of this with only small clues and hints to go by, LB desperately searches for her partner while fighting through a mangled Paris. She finds out she's been dead for a year at this point and that something isn't right with Chat Noir as he's nowhere to be mentioned or seen. It's only when she comes across a mysterious figure sitting upon the Eiffel Tower that she finally sees what has become of her Partner. He's in a revamped version of his suit, (less akin to the sleek alley cat and more Persian in style) but instead of the casual black he's white as snow and his punny attitude is replaced with a dark, brooding angst and he does not seem happy to see her. They get into a fight in which she realizes she is outmatched in and no matter what she does can't seem to locate the Akuma no matter what she breaks off his costume. But through piecing together things chat says during the fight, the environmental story telling and things she heard from the Akumas, she gets a little bit of the picture, enough to understand that something traumatic happened to Chat involving HM and her death. So instead of fighting Chat to get the Akuma she tries to piece together what happened and talk it out with Chat Noir, reassuring him she can fix all this and yadda yadda before he willingly reveals his Akuma and she fixes Paris.
That would have been a much better episode to be honest.
That does sound way better, too bad the show will literally never be that clever... also this might need to be a movie ala Phineas and Ferb across the second demotion

During season 3 I was already slowly losing faith in the show but Chat Blanc finally pushed me off the deep end.
It is so utterly pointless, had some of the worst writing I've ever seen, showed a huge middle finger to fans who want the romance to develop in any sort of way and wastes and ruins an amazing fan creation that was also probably stolen.
I mean even the name is the same as in the fan works. It's just way too similar to some fan stories I've seen with this concept to not be ripped off in some way and surprise: all of them were at least ten times better than this.
I've lost complete faith in the creators at this point and season 4 isn't doing anything to give me hope for improvement. It's just another ton of illogical developments and decisions. Even the heightened dramatic stakes have somehow avoided inciting any true character development so far.
At this point I'm only watching because I've invested too much time into it to stop now and the fan discussions are way too fun to miss out on.
The sunk coast fallacy is a strong one and one i hate in human brains. Im honestly considering doing a "miraculous is dissapointing and heres why" like h. Bomber guy did with RWBY because this shit is just wastful its needly padding and overall squanders what potential it had in service to the creators own myopia on his work and from what ive heard steals fan ideas and botches them so bad it makes the idea look shitty on the whole. Thats just sad to me

I've been in this fandom for many years and have seen so many passionate works involving Chat Blanc and other plots that were so good and emotional that they actually made me cry and come back for them again and again.
An then I see these great stories being bastardized in the actual canon and used for pointless drama that doesn't factor into the story in the end. It just hurts and I felt genuinely insulted while watching this episode. I can't believe that so many are praising it and calling it a masterpiece.

They had a good plot but bad execution. Now that I think about it this could have been a good finale to this series. They could have started dating then in multiple episodes it would lead to them finding out their identities and hawk moth's plan. Hawkmoth could then do some mental manipulation and turned chat evil, after that he would terrorize the city worse than any other villain and ladybug could have called to the other heroes for help. The big surprise is ladybug didn't win this time and that's when the missing bunny miraculous comes into play helping her fix what transpired and having the couple still be together. But alas they had to cram all of that info in one episode making it more anti-climatic and chat blanc less cool like his design portrays him.

In all honesty I feel like marinette should either;
Lose her miraculous PERMANENTLY (or atleast for a few episodes and for those few still have access to the other miraculous but not the ladybug, and the new ladybug / mr bug actually being a better person)
Relinquish the miraculous box to someone else (chat noir preferably)
Or just have her miraculous and/ or the miracle box taken since she is too irresponsible.
Personally I’d prefer a scenario in which she loses her miraculous and she uses another miraculous as her main one (let’s say the mouse because that would defo suit her) and she is still able to access the miraculous remotely since she is still the guardian. She would also still be the main character and would hold resentment for the ladybug holder since they stole the miraculous from her. However, through their adventures they’d grow closer and learn to trust eachother, maybe even the holder being Alya 2.0. I’d also Marinette sending Alya after the holder to try to get it back, only losing them at the last moment. Then when the holder is backed up against a wall, and has no where to go and no one to turn to, they’d find Marinette and return the miraculous, only for Marinette to tell them to keep it and laugh and etc. I know it sounds like a shitty fanfic but it would be way more interesting than the current plot we have.
Contenders for the ladybug miraculous
Kagami. Would love to see her break out of her she’ll and basically be ladybug 2.0 except she’s not as horrible towards Chat. This would give her self confidence and maybe even have her stand up against her mother, possibly even looking towards Marinette for comfort and a place to stay which would be terrific irony. Maybe even having kagami discover her role as guardian, or at the very least that she is in possession of a miraculous.
Juleka. It would really help her break out of her shell and help her become more social, gain more confidence. Would also make Marinette suspicious and investigate Jules. Character development let’s go atleast she isn’t stalking adrien.
Zoe. Now hear me out, sure she might be Marinette 2.0, but she can be Marinette 2.0 without the creepy stalking. Maybe even become best friends with chat noir and share everything with him (except her identity of course.) she’d share her troubles with him, which would maybe lead him to the conclusion ladybug is someone in his class.
Now the scenarios in which they come across the miraculous.
Kagami, probably find it laying there and see Marinette. Like maybe Marinette is running and trips over and they get knocked out or something, but she doesn’t want Marinette to know she knows so she holds onto them.
Juleka. Would have it dropped off by a mysterious figure which would be shown to steal it from Marinette in the dead of night, the kwamis being alert but don’t know who it is, maybe another miraculous holder but from another country?
Zoe. In this case Marinette would probably give it to Zoe in her darkest hours, feeling like she is unable to be the true heroine. This could also be the case for Alya but who wants her as the holder she literally encourages Marinettes stalker behaviour

Thats hilarious at face value but the context of the episode makes it frustrating.
Thomas based Chloe off of a childhood bully of his - she's the effigy he will burn to tell the kid that was mean to him in school that they are a bad person and bad people will be evil forever. This is a mistake. M. Bustier reminds me of a particularly bad teacher I had once (as far as punishing the bully victim.) As a fanfiction writer *I don't touch Bustier* because I know anything I write will be pure salt/ catharsis for me and not a good story for anyone else to enjoy because of this. Thomas should have taken stock of fan reactions and realized that Chloe I not his bully, he is no longer a child, and that as an adult he knows that even nasty people can grow and become better with the right motivation and opportunity. Full redemption to the point of spewing rainbows and hugging stray kittens? Yeah, I can see telling fans not to expect that because it would be wildly unrealistic. Redeemed enough to no longer be pure evil and perhaps given a different miraculous that she does keep secret (one more in line with her new self) absolutely could have happened.
We moved on to a new, different kind of antagonist in the class. Which, hey, mirrors real life. You start with the gum on the chair bullies as a young kid, but the real nasty bullies in high school and into adulthood are like Lila. Manipulative, two-faced, gaslighting... smart enough not to get caught and even to be supported by authorities. Chloe "changing" works thematically because physical and in-your-face bullying isn't as effective as people get older because it is so obviously wrong to any observer even without context. The people who don't grow and change once they hit this age are almost always failures as adults.
I'm closer to 40 than 30. I know most fans are younger than me,, so take it from your elder: I've seen this IRL.
I was bullied a lot from kindergarten all the way through middle school then i changed districts and went to a new school. One of my bullies came with me and on the FIRST DAY of the year he came to me and said "lets burry the hatchet". People change even as young as these students, like wtf man this isnt that complicated. Chole also is just not a trurly evil person like Layla, she just acts like her mother because she wants her approval, while thats not okay it is understandable for a lteral child to do.
Im almost 25 and even i know that your bullies wont be that way forever this isnt highschool or a movie version of it where the only thing thats changed is their beer gut. Get some therpay thomas
I don't hate this episode but I definitely agree it could have been written better. Heck, instead of splitting the episode into 2 parts why not split it up into multiple:
Have Adrien try harder to get to know Marinette and come away with solid evidence that she's Ladybug before he rushes into a relationship.
Have him be nervous about asking her out for fear of rejection, because Ladybug keeps saying she's in love with another boy which for all he knows could be Luka.
Bring Luka, Kagami, Chloe and Lila into the mix to complicate things (especially Lila since she's working with Gabriel, she could have been sowing seeds of doubt into Marinette's head making her question Adrien's feelings or not being able to live up to her new social status; She could have teamed up with Chloe in an attempt to break Adrienette up but Chloe ends up not going through with it when she realizes how unhappy Adrien would be).
Of course show the change in Ladynoir's dynamic, Marinette's own struggle with wanting to tell Adrien her secret and vice versa, Natalie and Gabriel's struggles between wanting to use Marinette as a pawn in their ultimate plan and trying to protect Adrien at the same time. Gabriel finding out Chat's identity on his own, struggling in whether to give up being Hawkmoth or to persuade his son to join him.
That would have been more satisfying to see imo. Just more plot progression please.

I dont watch the show anymore cause I'm watching a Yter who reacts on it, and I just like the Yter wanna see it first time when he's reacting, before I made this choice I did saw many of s4 from miraculous, if I saw it right it seems like they're rly have changed and more and more push the show to be different and not that predictable then it was before (like theyre letting Alya knew Marinettes secret idendity and letting Marinette leaving Luka, also its looking like they more and more need other heroes and the villians are getting stronger, also the akumatized ppl are getting stronger and can make the choice of resisting Hawkmoth's/Shadowmoth's manipulation, I honestly feel like the show is growing older and wiser).
Oh yeah from what ive seen the show is getting more plot centric which is fine but my pointbwas this episode was trying to be both and in the wrong way. The alya thing was neat ill admit and i can't wait for the english dub on NF so i can enjoy it in my own way, i still like the show a lot this episode and the executive producer just got under my skin
It's been 5 seasons. Marinette still doesn't want Adrien's affection even when he tried to kiss her. It's so irritating to watch and I just want the two to stop being together.
At this point this show needs to just guve us a break. Either do or do not there is no middle ground here you burned that bridge a long time ago

I just noticed a very big issue with the writing around Ladybug herself that could resolve a lot of issues if it was done away with
Ladybug is set as the only one able to defeat an akuma.
This causes Chat Noir and all the other heroes to automatically become little more than side-kicks and sacrificial pawns as they can be beaten and the fight could still be won by Ladybug but Ladybug herself can never ultimately be beaten because then the villain can't be defeated.
This creates a hard status quo that always makes Ladybug bounce back without ever being beaten and maybe growing and developing through that while the other heroes can be evaporated, blinked out of existence or turned to stone without any consequences.
It also ensures that none of the other heroes will ever be the savior of the day as they will never be the ones to ultimately get rid of the akuma. The last sentence of the fight will always be "Miraculous Ladybug!".
Ladybug being the only one effective against akumas also doesn't make any logical sense.
Ladybug is shown to be one of the stronger heroes but it doesn't really make sense that she would be the only one to be able to beat the peacock miraculous holder. The peacock is meant to be a superhero to begin with and another hero having the exact move-set necessary to effectively beat him while all the other miraculous are practically useless against it is absurd. It would make more sense for Ladybug to be especially effective against Chat Noir as they oppose each other but the Ladybug miraculous has no relationship with the peacock miraculous.
It also doesn't make sense that Chat Noir isn't also effective against akumas as the cat and ladybug miraculous are shown to be on the same strength level but nope, it's only Ladybug for some reason.
When other heroes were first introduced, it was implied that they acted independently from each other and were never mentioned as a team. This, however doesn't work if all the heroes have to work with Ladybug in order to get anything done at all.
If this contrivance was done away with, Chat Noir and Ladybug would actually be partners on a strength-based level and Ladybug would actually be able to get hurt just as the other heroes and they would also be able to get more spotlight. The other heroes could also even get whole episodes to themselves as it wouldn't be strictly necessary to have Ladybug in every fight. Removing this one aspect of the show could create a lot of potential for improvement and development of the characters.
I was having thos same debate with someone else on this video and im completely with you on this. The show hamstrings everyone else to make her the only one to be the winner. The logoc makes no sense and it makes her god for reason other than girl power.
Take wonder woman for example she is on an equal playing feild to characters like superman bat man green lantern and even martian man hunter, she is a valued member of the team not the one gets pushed aside so superman can save it with plot contrivances. There's nothing she can do that the others cant besides maybe have more greek mythology knowledge, but on a physical level shes on par or better thsn most of her male counterparts.
Lasybug is just to good and to important to fail and thats the problem. The only time she ever loses ae when we need to see a new hero come in like monlwy king and viperion. Even in miraculous mr. Bug she has to tell him how to do his god damn job DESPITE HIM KNOWING HOW SHE DOES IT FOR AT THE MINIMUM A YEAR, but she gets the hang of her new powers like nothings wrong and it drives me crazy.
Its like the shpw doesnt trust its audience to understand girls are just as good as boys unless they keep punching adrian down

Thomas Astruc really doesn't understand feminism and is just going with the toxic approach of elevating women and putting men down. That has nothing to do with equality and nobody on the whole production team seems to be able to convince him of that.
In the old cartoon justice league she was in the forground alot shes in more episodes than batman and superman. And exsactly putting men down to elevate women is not how to go about this putting them on equal footing is how it works. I wouldn't really make Chat Noir a girl, not that I would really have anything against it, but if they writers aren't able to write a female/male superhero duo then maybe they should reconsider if they are even the right ones for the job. It isn't that hard.

I think were in agreement on the way it should be done. The over all problem with the episode as is, is ignoring your established characters and their characterization for petty fan service. Like rewriting any aspect of the episode at any stage eould have changed it for the better

Like geez...I don't mind a show being long like Adventure time, but when you drag out a show like this where the only main plot of the show is the main characters getting together, it's going to get REALLY old. No amount of interesting lore will keep people invested forever. The only reason I keep up with the show is because of the kwami's and transformations, but if the writing still sucks, the powers will be all that I'll ever care about

I remember seeing Fanart of Chat Blanc and fan AMV's about him before he even became canon. I LOVED that fan concept.
So about 3 years later they actually make it canon, and I was incredibly dissapointed.
The character design wasn't the best and the story was rushed and I felt like Chat Noir could have been used better.
I was mad they made Gabriel abuse his child like that even though we've seen him repeatedly care for Adrian before this ep like that one Gorilla episode.
I felt like Chat Blanc should have been the season finale. It would be great for the reveal but it has to be build up to this point.
I feel like he might return seeing how things are going in s4. I hope they actually make good use of this once popular fan idea.
I agree it should have been a season finale thing, however all gabrial does is abuse adrian while it might not be done through physical means its done routinely through gaslighting refusal of praise neglect and all that. I loved chat blanc and I agree that it should have been a 2 parter and that marinette needed to make an informed decision. I like the episode because of how deep it was but everything was too short and it wasn’t fair Marinette did not get to see what happened and how it happened just the result

Adrien could go well with Chloe. Both are ignored or rejected by their parents, both don't have a lot of friends especially Chloe, both are likable. Is it weird if i ship them together? I can see them as a couple, they would be cute X3 Also, Queen bee and Chat will have more development; they really need it!

I think that Thomas honestly just doesn't know much about writing girls and what tropes should be avoided.
It'd be much more progressive if Marinette would stop catfighting with other girls over a boy and would have moments with other people that don't come back to Adrien in some way. If Marinette wasn't written to be such a creep about her crush, I could forgive her moments of jealousy. If Marinette did try to support Kagami and other girls and not fight over Adrien like a piece of meat, it would make her moments of jealousy seem human instead of possessive. It's one thing to feel jealousy- it's another thing entirely to act on it. I feel that's why most of the fandom dislikes her crush on Adrien- the writers make her crush unrealistic and extremely dislikeable.
Also, I feel that the writers tease the ship but don't do the heavy work to make it happen. If Marinette and Adrien got together right now, I feel it wouldn't work- they have so much to learn about each other and both of them need to work to take the other off a pedestal.
In Chat Blanc in particular , it bothered me that Adrien jumped straight to using Marinette's identity to date Ladybug instead of like. coming clean or re-evaluating what he knew about Ladybug vs what he knew about Marinette.
Thomas and the show staff remind me of family guys writers sometimes they actually said the reason meg is treated so bad is because they can't wrote for a teenage girl. My problem the answer is to hire a woman to write for her, its not complcated.
As for the romance well theyre 14 crushes are shallow at that age it makes sense theyre on a pedestal to each other, having said that how their written and the fact shes just mean to anyone that pays him any attention is just bad and wrong and dumb.
And in chat blanc i got the impression he realized gis love of LB and his flirty crush with Marinette were linked and that because they're the same person ot makes sense to him why he likes Marinette not so much using her to get to her alter ego. I lampoon this episode for a lot but that moment seemed genuinely sweet to me
