Along with the whole 'can't recognize the super persona' thing, Adrien is also _vastly_ different as Chat Noir. He's a lot more confident and constantly makes jokes because he's free to do so. Civilian Adrien is extremely bland which makes sense because he has to keep an image. Same goes for Marinette in a way.

They also disappear whenever ladybug and cat noir is there.

I live in Paris and I can confirm this is true
The fact that the Ladybug fandom was so dedicated that some even wrote (*cough* *cough* fanfic writers) about this story and actually pushed it to its full potential with every plot line and made it so every character was likable and overall closed it off in a satisfying way better than the actual writers was insane. Note: I forgot the fanfic name and writer but I know they were like what 18 and managed to do something I considered was impossible which was actually make me invested in every release of a new chapter and all it’s characters.

A big part of the show is dedicated to; child abuse, neglect, depression, some vague sewerslide references, romance, and I personally relate to a lot of the grief and loss of a parent. As cringe as it is, Adrien is one of my biggest comfort characters ever, lol

Most people stuck around to make sure they were right about Hawkmoth’s identity and then once you get there, there’s actually interesting things happening in the plot
and then the plot dies and there comes a new one, and you get so confussed bc what is happening and then you just keep watching
I'm a 30 year old man and I love this show. I know I know but I grew up watching power rangers and sailor moon as a kid. Then Code Lyoko. So it feels nostalgic while being new content. I got into the show because I like anime and heard Bryce Papenbrook was in it.
Funny you should mention that, I think one of the writers or two actually worked on Code Lyoko.
I mean he didn’t need to point out how Adrien is wearing a full on Adam and Eve kinky leather body suit- but now I can’t unsee it.

honestly I think parts of the show get lost in translation a bit since it’s originally written in French and for whatever reason whoever translates it to English likes to dumb down the dialogue a lot but even so I think when you watch it more and don’t take it too seriously you kinda learn that the main message is more so not to let negative emotions take over you and hurt people rather than to not have any at all which I think is wonderfully mature for a kids show that is as silly and stupid as this one (plus some people, myself included, have grown attached to Marinette’s character as her “bad luck” and “clumsiness” is often coded like ADHD… but that’s its own story)

The idea is great, but the writers fumbled the ball too many times for five seasons straight!
There are too many characters that the creator doesn’t focus on and the ones he does are either harmful stereotypes (ex: Marinette is the clingy jealous girl taken to such extremes that she sneaks into Adriens house on multiple occasions, has his entire schedule memorized, gets jealous when other girls are with him, and sniffs Adrien because she thinks it’s a wax statue of him; yet the audience is supposed to find this behavior cute and completely normal), just there to be bashed (he hates Chloe to the point he wasted valuable episodes that could have been used developing other characters on her “damnation arc”, a poorly conceived character arc where she gets developed positively only to turn on Ladybug and go back to being a bully in season 4 as if nothing ever happened; the characters don’t even acknowledge this and instead complain about the petty things she does like ruin a movie or refuse to play soccer), or Mary Sues (ex: He specifically called Adrien perfect, as Chat Noir he’s overpowered, and he has a tragic backstory; Zoe, a character introduced as Chloe’s half sister has a sympathetic backstory, has no other character traits other than being nice, and gets to be the “true holder” of the bee miraculous in just her second episode.)
The love square has been drawn out for too long with three reveals that were undone via magic reset button and the other characters who like the two (Nino, Nathaniel, Luka, and Zoe for Marinette; Alya, Chloe, Lila, and Kagami for Adrien) are just there for added drama.
The creator is a jerk who takes even the slightest bit of constructive criticism as an attack (even if it’s something warranted like “dude, you just used an offensive racial stereotype”), thinks he’s better than all other content creators (Pixar, Disney, and Rainbow SRL to name a few), openly mocks fans who come up with theories, refuses to outright include accurate representation because he doesn’t want his show banned in other countries (in other words, he only cares about money and is a sell out), and thinks fans who take commissions of his characters are stealing from him so you should only buy official licensed merchandise!
Yet this show is paraded around by the production team as if it’s a masterpiece and no one on the team even stops to ask “is this a potentially harmful idea?”
Instead plots skewer crucial morals for kids to learn (ex: Qilin features a racist character and police brutality, only for Marinette to apologize to them in the end, defeating the purpose of saying “racism and police brutality are bad”), they don’t check their storyboards for inconsistencies (or errors; they even used an outdated racist flag in one episode despite it being inaccurate to the time period and pissing off Korean fans), character designs/concepts are harmful stereotypes (ex: Alya is a borderline Mammy who doubles as the sassy black girl, Nino is a borderline magical negro, and both are black best friends to white passing characters whose main purpose is to give them advice; also in the official comic, Astruc thought it was a brilliant idea to have a bunch of black characters be mistaken for looters and given offensive names like Ghetto Blaster), and some character designs are culturally inappropriate (Aeon is a black robot with a white creator, her only purpose is to help people, and she gets destroyed by a white boy; also Jessica, a Native American girl, is given the Eagle miraculous which is “the miraculous of freedom”, complete with a stereotypical design and her mentor is a white woman).

I literally am obsessed with this show and it’s concerning. I’m 15 and instead of worrying about my life and work and school I’m more interested of the love life of clueless superheroes and if they’re going to save Paris. Maybe it’s because I’m in love with the voice actors and would die for Bryce Papenbrook and Cristina Vee because they literally voice act in every single one of my favorite shows. They come out of no where I swear to god.

The show is incredibly dumb, but at the same time there are moments where it’s the most amazing thing ever, because there are people out there (like me) who ship these two fictional characters super hard. It’s a really enjoyable and entertaining tv show, it’s funny, even has some romantic comedy and it’s also sad and tragic, about as dramatic as a tv show can get and yet super funny at some moments, that’s why I love it so much
Seasons 1-2 is just pure ridiculousness, seasons 3-the first half of 4 was actually kinda deep. Then there was season 5 which was deep but in a ridiculous way.

At this point the fandom should lead the story and i mean it ,we can make pretty amazing episodes and do justice to all characters .
Like a lot of characters have a lot of potential and we can use them to make the show better.
Something I always love and laugh at is how fucking confident Adrien is for his first time transforming whereas Marinette is scared. He acts like he was made for it.

Think of it as he was repressed all his life and now he can do whatever he wants. Marinette was not confident for like 30 seconds and then was very competent. Also, my personal theory is that part of the Kwami personality gets fused into the transformation. Like how Tiki is level headed and confident & how Plagg is mischievous and goofy. It would explain a lot. And that personality rubs off on them IRL afterwards.

I heard so much about this show especially from teenager and some adults that pretty much obsessed with this just like My Little Pony. It seems like a lot of animated series is not for kids anymore.
Fun fact: the moment the umbrella scene happens in the rain, there is a clap of thunder in the background which in French symbolizes a love at first sight type of thing called "coup de foudre"

I watched it when it came out cuz it was on tv, I think I was 13 back then. I remembered this show out of nowhere in January and started binging it. the only thing that kept me hooked was the animation, I think it's so damn good. the fans adore the concept but hate the execution.
Exactly. The concept is great but the show rots due to
1.) Aesopp whiplash. Especially with Chloe's character who by S4 runs on Insane Troll Logic and isn't even a real person
2.) The stupid rule given the two main characters not knowing each others secret identities and Zag and friends trolling the fan base with what if episodes to show that its a bad idea for them to know each other.
3.) The lack luster growth. Sometimes you forget the characters are in HS and not middle school with how shallow a lot of story lines are.
Well, if you’re looking for a similar concept, Randy Cunningham 9th Grade Ninja is pretty similar, and it’s pretty good. There’s admittedly a LOT of toilet humor and Howard can be a jackass sometimes but it’s also legitimately good, so I’d give it a shot.

I stopped watching mainly due to episodes being months apart or in the wrong order and overall ya it has issues :/ the big time gaps just made me lost interest
I tried so hard to enjoy this show because come on, the concept of Xingqiu/Bennett having a personal vendetta with Zhongli is just gold but the Paw Patrol animation and the overall Paw Patrol-level of storytelling and acting just really kept me from getting into it XD
