I also am a Reiki Master. I volunteer for Bravery Heart Rescue its a pit bull rescue. I go in there they are all barking out control and when I am done they are all sound asleep and relaxed

As someone doing your level 1 course and being a reiki master and animal reiki practitioner in another tradition, this warms my heart. I have 2 pittie rescues from Bosnia, they are exactly like Bart. So sweet you would eat them up. My spanish mastin rescue dog reacts totally different, as do my rescue cats. I love pitties so muchXX

I'm reading your book Reiki for Dogs right now and it's great. Thank you for helping those of us who want to help our pets learn how to work with energy. It's really been helpful to me and my dog Tilly. Tilly who is three years old developed a limp when she was a year old, but no vets have been able to explain why. She clearly must have some pain in her leg and or hip area and it's frustrating that even with X-rays and visiting multiple doctors no one can offer a solution. I feel like I may be able to help Tilly using Reiki.

Demonstrating, as Kathleen so wisely teaches, that ritual is not the essence of Reiki treatment. Ritual can actually disturb animals rather than support them. I've found this to be true with human's as well. The power of Reiki treament is in being fully present without judging and sharing the unconditionally loving, healing, empowering energy of Reiki.

My old dog have the same reaction after Reiki session with me this evening. I don't have mush experience, and I was surprised that she stand up and want to go for a walk in 10p.m...... She was full with energy , I thought that is impossible..

Thank you! I only use hand positions that animals offer to me, I never impose my own idea of protocol. I find this builds much more trust :) So the answer is yes if the animal puts their head into my hands - and then they'll show me what makes them happy :)

Reiki creates deep relaxation and a sense of peace and well being, so it's wonderful to share with animals and their people when an animal is in hospice or passing away. I was recently hired to pamper a dying dog with Reiki and massage. However, it turned out to be a mostly Reiki and acupressure session as the dog had cancer and I did not want to risk spreading it more, or affect medications by moving lymph fluid. This dog responded well to Reiki and went from bouncy dog mode to deep sleep after Reiki mediation. I left the dog owners with a simple meditation to tell their dog that they loved him for when they went to the Vet at the end. Reiki should complement what a good Veterinarian is doing by reducing stress and helping the animal feel loved. Kathleen has great introductory animal Reiki meditation classes online, or you can hire one of her Reiki practitioners in your area.

Yes, Animal Reiki is about aspiring to live a kinder life - I am vegan as I consider all animals to be my spiritual teachers, amazing healers and precious sentient beings.

I dont get this... All i see is dog being a dog, doing doggy stuff.
That's because this method of Animal Reiki supports animal agency - an animal being an animal. It often takes time for the dog to unwind and be able to relax and connect to the practitioner. We don't force things, we allow them to take their time and the relaxation you see happening at the end is how they are connecting to the peaceful meditation of Animal Reiki. When our bodies go into deep relaxation, this is how we self-heal the best - so by supporting relaxation, this is how Reiki supports the self-healing process.
