If Viffer made a side bet with Jungleman then whatever Durrrr does is irrelevant since the agreement was made with the former, not the latter (unless there was a specific condition layed out regarding Durrrr's decisions, e.g.: IF Durrrr forfeits THEN or IF Durrrr goes to the bathroom THEN, etc.).
If I bet with Charlie that he's going to paint his whole house better than his cousin is going to paint his, then it's irrelevant whether his cousin gets lazy and decides not to paint the house altogether or if he paints only the front porch. My bet with Charlie is very clear: whomever paints the WHOLE HOUSE better wins, so WHATEVER his cousin does or says is irrelevant to my bet with Charlie, impacting only Charlie's bet with his cousin.

They would've had to stipulate that a forfeit or failure to complete 50K hands was a wash or some other type of pay out. Like, what happens if they play 45K hands and its unwinnable because he's down 5mil already and he forfeits and both players agree, you're gna claim he didn't lose?!
For this bet, i can see both sides. Def not great negotiations by either. There is almost always a buyout clause. Not playing all the hands does really kinda nullify the bet. But yeah the crossbook he owes. Side note i use to play with viffer a ton at commerce back in 2007-2009 and didnt find him to be a strong player at all, super spewy and aggro in almost all the wrong spots. Would make sense he is broke now.

This is my thoughts on a loan, first i never give them and if i do. I consider it a gift, if it gets paid back. Bonus, but more often then not. It doesnt, but the since i started treating it as such. I did receive the loans back surprisingly often. If its to a girl, i just laugh and say here, if you need money that bad dont worry about it. I hate having something over someone i care about.

a) was there a buyout clause? (can you opt to end the match early)
b) what's the difference in variance when you play only 20k hands instead of 50k? (by how many % do your chances decrease to win the bet)
