I have the Grundig version of that radio, well it looks nearly the same except the Grundig shield. Got it for a song because someones' puppy got ahold of it and chewed off the battery cover and stand. I ordered replacement parts and now have a complete unit. Only problem I have had with it is the failure of the back light. I let my wonderful wife of 51 years and 4 days use it till she passed away last September, I cleaned it up the other day since it had resided in the kitchen for over 8 years, after getting off the grease, it looks as good as the day it arrived from an ebay seller.

I had pretty much steered clear of Eton radios. I never heard much about them, until quite recently. It seems they are pretty good.

I have this radio and really love it. It is excellent on just about everything, but notably on Mediumwave. FM is also great, although the selectivity/sensitivity on its predecessor, the Grundig G8, was actually a little better on that band, even though mediumwave and shortwave on that set were not. (I should clarify...the RECEPTION itself was very good on the G8...on all bands...however the AM muting and pumping in and out on weak signals was REALLY noticeable and could be quite annoying.) Articles I have read also state that the G8 was a little better on FM than this newer edition .
I also own the Executive Edition of this model. Great too...except for one thing...there is interiorly-generated digital noise on certain frequencies at regular intervals across the mediumwave band. This is NOT the case on the original edition reviewed here. This is a shame, because other reviewers have touted this set as being a Mediumwave lovers radio..."finally, someone got mediumwave 'just right' on a radio in this class/price range". Therefore, for the executive model of this radio to have 'regressed' a bit in this regard is a shame.
This digital noise on mediumwave is demonstrated elsewhere here on CZcams...I believe it may be Todderbert's review? Anyway, it shows up ESPECIALLY when using the signal-to-noise ratio display setting. The change of readings every second or so results in an annoying digital noise/pulse. If you turn off the signal-to-noise ratio reading, it's better, but the digital noise is still there...becoming more of a constant pitch or heterodyne-like sound in the background.
Both of my examples of this radio also have terrible hiss or 'hashy' background noise when listening with headphones. In fact, one reviewer gave it terrible marks on headphone use. I maybe wouldn't go quite that far, however it IS indeed probably the noisiest radio on headphones I have ever experienced. Just try it with headphones and turn the volume low, you'll hear all the noise that is going on in the background. It's even there very obviously with the sound totally turned down. Of course, at higher volumes it becomes masked quite a bit, however my professional musician's ear can definitely still detect it and it distracts me.
Even with these negatives, however, I will say this is a wonderful radio. I really do enjoy both examples of this set that I own and would recommend it highly.

The main important issue is that I live in Cairo Egypt, will I be able to here the fm,mw,and the sw's with in the region without using the cities rotator? For I cannot find Cairo on the rotator!

I agree that the time zone switch takes up too much space that could have been used more effectively.

Looks like Eton is about to do another refresh with the Elite series. Some of those radios like the Field BT, Executive, and the re-release of the Satelit will have HD radio (or DAB internationally) supported on FM. Don't know if this will come to the Elite Traveller but the Executive Traveller III is still on sale on Amazon for $36 and I decided to pick up a new one as I did like the original.
