    Another great and informative video. You said you have transported to Washington, do you know the cost? I'm hoping to start my hard, I'd be interested in 3 doelings.

    • @BlueCactusDairyGoats
      @BlueCactusDairyGoats  Před 5 lety

      If you use air transportation it will be about $350-$400 for 2 goats after crates and health certificates. 2 kids can go in one crate. The goat I sent to Washington was ground transportation and she was amazing! The buyer paid the cost but it was traveling in style! I am not exactly sure of cost but probably a little cheaper. This is the link to the video with the transporter so you can see. I highly recommend her. Her fb page is linked in the description of the video if you want to reach out to her :) czcams.com/video/6VqvsDeGt-M/video.html

      I have been showing about 6 years. We had goats before we decided to dive into showing. I have seen videos of people training goats like a dog can be trained. I suppose if you have the time and patients lol.

    Question: compared to your does my does look quite thin since they kidded.... How would you fatten up low weight does?

    • @BlueCactusDairyGoats
      @BlueCactusDairyGoats  Před 5 lety

      Does loose weight when they are in milk. So keep that in mind. Completely normal. Up the alfalfa and alfalfa pellets. That's what I do if I have a doe that is too skinny because she is in milk. Producing milk takes a lot out of them. Also, a worm over load will cause weight loss too. So make sure that isn't going on.

    Hi Criystal. I was wondering if you hade a page or email I could send you photo's of some of my goat's, there aren't a lot of show out where I am and a lot of people who know about dairy goats. I am having a really hard time on telling if my main breeding doe's and buck's are good for what I am wanting to go for. I am raising foundation pygmy's so they don't look any were close to your new standard pygmy goats on what they are breeding for, I am trying to breed for dairy and meat line's but when ever I show in 4-H I keep running across no one knows what they are doing or looking for and I really get discouraged on what I am trying to go for. If you would be able to help or know of some one I would really appreciate.

    • @BlueCactusDairyGoats

    • @BlueCactusDairyGoats
      @BlueCactusDairyGoats  Před 5 lety +1

      Well, there was a lot of info there. So not sure what you are asking. Is there a more specific question you have?

  • @rockscorner5991
    @rockscorner5991 Před 5 lety

    So, after looking at the close ups of the well attached udders it struck me how much they look very much like, say, a cooked full bird breast. Kinda. If you tucked in the wings, and added treats that is. Well, from ta rear anyhow.
    Also, I have good news. My troubled doe is getting MUCH better. Teasing her with a pan of scratch made catching her a breeze yesterday morning. And she's now jumping on the stancion like an old pro. She's only trembling a tiny bit now if i make her wait any amount of time after milking though. Like say i am checking for babies. Or in general a daily health check while I have her on the stand. But she and I are getting better together everyday. Now, hope has me spoiled rotten. I showed her ONCE where the stancion was and that was it! I even have a hard time getting her off the thing. Lol.
    Willow has yet to be worked by me. And, I was thinking the other day that I should add her to my 'milk line' even if she's dry just to get her in the routine of it and get her used to being touched and worked by me.
    Oh yeah, and Gwen, my trouble goat does SO much better with a halter otherwise she tries to drag me everywhere. Which with the snow and the ice she darn near can! Don't worry, I only use the halter during milking time. And I'll be darned I needed a small halter on her. She's lamancha/ alpine I would have thought I needed a large but there we are.
    Sorry, so long winded. I don't really have anybody to talk to about these things. Thank you for listening. Have a blessed day.

      @BlueCactusDairyGoats  Před 5 lety +2

      That is great news!! So glad to hear she is getting accustomed to getting milked on the stand. She will get better and better with time. I clip all of mine to the fence to wait their turn. When I'm done with one I clip hert to her spot of the fence and unclip the next doe. They just run to the stand for me.

    • @rockscorner5991
      @rockscorner5991 Před 5 lety

      How much chain per goat do you use? And just a double clip on both ends?

    • @BlueCactusDairyGoats
      @BlueCactusDairyGoats  Před 5 lety

      Show collars are just choker collars. Inch in chains would be defendant on the size of the goats head. You want it to just fit over their head.
