- If you're like us, you loved Labyrinth at some point in your youth. And if you've seen it lately, you probably wondered what the hell you were thinking as a kid. OR... you're young enough that you've never even heard of this movie, which should be a fantastic experience all its own. Regardless, here are the sins of Labyrinth.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we recount next? You can be the narrator by calling the Hotline: 405-459-7466!

This is my favorite movie of all time, no matter how many sins. Every little girl watching this dreamed of wearing Sarah's ballgown for her wedding.
I was a tomboy too. I played with as many boy toys as I did girl toys, and was the hugest fan of the TMNT. But when Labyrinth was one, it was all pretty dresses, glitter, and fantasy.
+Carrie Wright Actually, I wanted to wear David Bowie's fabulous outfits instead!! The capes in this movie, holy hell...*dissolves into a puddle of clothes-envy*
Well...besides Buttercup's dresses from Princess Bride
+Carrie Wright
Forgive me if this sounds bad but... I just stopped and horror-nerded out on your name. Carrie Wright is so CLOSE to Carrie White.
Yes.
I have dealt with idiots poking fun at it or cracking jokes, but I did play "Carrie" one night during the Haunted Castle in my town and have all the movies except the newest reboot.
It's grown on me now.
:)
If I had a shot for every time Sarah said "It's not fair" I'd be blasted
I still can't believe that she played the character my sister before she was even born
What's even more funny is that after Jareth messed with the time, Sarah yells "That's not fair!" and Jareth replies with "You seem to say the a lot, Sarah."
"you say that so often. I wonder what your basis for comparison is."
@@PrincessOfTheWholeUniverseit is funny seeing how dramatic Sarah is in the beginning acting like her whole life is a play “You did want to talk to me didn’t you? Practically broke down the door!”
I never once noticed Bowie's face in the rock while that piece of wood fell. Thanks Cinema Sins
Dream Weaver there's actually multiple seen throughout the movie
Neither have and I have seen this movie a zillion times and I still love it. In fact I might watch it today!
I never noticed that one. There are others in rocks behind him i think talking with Hoggle???
I’ve seen the movie countless times and I never noticed it!
Fail
There is nothing wrong with Labyrinth, since David Bowie is in it.
Random Stuff101 fuckin WRONG
Random Stuff101 indeed
Random Stuff101 yasssss
Except those pants
True
I love it when idiots forget that Cinemasins is supposed to be funny and not actual movie reviews
Soquid Snake I do feel like some sins can be seen as legitimate criticisms, but yeah for the most part it's either a running joke or poking fun at the fact that it's a movie. Often insightful, but also often silly. Lol
IKR. He's freaken Hilarious
Yeah. Take Goldeneye, for example. They gave it a sin for every scene Sean Bean didn't die yet.
I've heard that often there is a little truth in every joke. The shit is funny that he nit-picks, but damned if it's not right on the nose a lot of the time.
I agree with you by the way, it's amusing when people take this waayyyy too seriously.
Yeah but it's not funny, so it fails on both points.
This video should have been 2 seconds long, and only should have displayed the words "Nothing, Nothing, Nothing tra-la-la". The labyrinth is perfect.
BAHSHAHAHAGHAH
😂
Yes!!! This is one of my childhood favorites. Leave to someone with nothing better to do than try to ruin something…btw he failed.
I want to do this now
i went to see a labyrinth re-run at the movie theater with my mom once, and at the end she shouted:"MORE DAVID BOWIE CROTCH SHOTS"
Can you introduce me to your mom, I have a feeling me and her would get along quite well.
yeah no
This right here. This should be on the Labyrinth dvd cover as a review lol
😂
Zoe Does Art I love your mum
I think the reason why so many people like this movie, including me, is because despite the beauty of it, it doesn't take itself too seriously. While so much hard work and time was put into it, its not perfect, even by 80's standards, and that's not a bad thing. That's what makes it good. It wasn't this big, huge, expensive movie that put intense work into the animation and puppetry, but rather a little funny and emotional story with cute little quirky characters and humour for everyone. No movie is perfect, I get that. No movie is ever going to be perfect. But this movie has something unique and special that you don't get in a lot of movies. And the soundtrack is absolutely beautiful, you can't sin that. The music is so fun and uplifting, it gets you dancing and I love that so much. This entire movie is just so amazing. Plus, David Bowie. David Bowie is always a win!
actually, it was pretty expensive - about $25 million.
@@carlottarobbins7005 yeah I was about to say that's not that cheap haha😅
Labyrinth is my all time fav movie I've seen it so many times I know all the lines and could reenact it in its entirely this vid honestly is something I disagree with but everyone has a right to their opinions but I fully agree with everything you stated in this comment.
@@carlottarobbins7005and sadly it only made 12 million which made Jim Henson not want to make anymore movies and died knowing labyrinth was a failure
cult classic movies are always the best tho
David Bowie, May you rest in peace. RIP (1947-2016)
My heart is breaking.
😩😩
):
this is the only reason I looked this up😢
+Jack Zimmerman May he rest in peace and May God be with him. :(
Even Cinema Sins can't make a single sin out of the ballroom scene... It was just too ICONIC and PERFECT.
and also kinda creepy. I was 13 when it first came out and a massive Bowie fan and even I cringed at the "adult romancing young teenager" undertones in the film. I loved the film back then! Still like watching it now. But still find it a bit ...erm...off, in ways. Eh. It's ultimately a subjective thing.
AGREED - 've only seen the movie 3 times, but I don't know how many times I've wished I could trade places with Sarah in that scene!
It was definitely creepy, but also a gorgeous scene from a film standpoint.
He refused to kiss Jennifer in that scene. Said it wasn't appropriate. 🥰
What's wrong with 80's Bowie? That's when he made songs like Ashes to Ashes, Let's Dance, Under Pressure...
I guess you weren't paying attention when "Never Let Me Down" came out then *shudders*
Not interesting songs imo
I’m ok with the general consensus about Never Let Me Down, but it doesn’t invalidate the previous 80s albums by Bowie. also, I’d rather prefer any 80s Bowie, even at his worst, than the 90s Bowie.
Random Stuff101 Put on your Red Shoes And Dance The Blues.
Bowie himself wasn't happy with what he did in the early 80s
He said he sold out.
Labyrinth is one of those movies that you never get tired of watching. I can see myself watching this movie in the future with my grandkids like my grandparents did with me.
For all you fans or those who are curious what it took to make this movie, I highly recommend you to watch 'Labyrinth (1986) Behind The Scenes' (2 parts) here on CZcams.
I was so obsessed with this movie they had to take it away from me because I would watch it so many times in a day. I had a tough childhood, foster homes etc, this movie was an escape, now a damn nostalgic one
OMG CASEY I ALMOST DIED WHEN I SAW YOU OMG!!! It's John as good of a father as the fandom says???
XD hi
John Egbert -dies from fangirling so much-
oh sorry about that
you seem to have god tiered
David Bowies family jewels are not a sin.
Agreed
If they think it was a sin in this movie (considering they've revealed that they actually just stuffed the crotch to look bigger), then they shouldn't watch him in "The Man Who Fell to Earth" he made in 1976. Full frontal nudity of him...Surprised the hell out of 15 year old me.
his hair should be ! :)
@@Smithjones12nah his mullet hair was perfect David actually provided his whole wardrobe and did his own makeup
HIS BULGE WAS NOT A SIN. IT WAS EYE CANDY
but your thoughts were full of sin 🤣
Right?! Do big boobs get counted as a sin? Love me some Bowie bulge.
Bless you for this comment
I'm a sinner so yes it is
Both lol
There's nothing wrong with 1980's David Bowie.
Granted, his 1970's work will always be his best but the 80's Bowie had some gems too.
*EXACTLY!*
I don't care how many 'flaws' you or whomever find in this movie. It will forever be one of my many 80's favorites as a child. Now that I'm older, on top of it being something I reminisce on, the soundtrack is just lovely.
David Bowie - Within You
right u are....i grew up with this move i will all ways love it
so many of the flaws are bs
cubsfanxtream That's the point. It's comedy :p
There's a song based on this movie, called Prince of the Land of Stench by Nekrogoblikon. I suggest you look it up!
Will do! Thank you
There's nothing wrong with this movie.

NOTHING
EXACTLY.
Absolutely nothing. lol
AMEN
*Sees this video*
Labyrinth is my fav movie ever.
*Clicks on it*
I regret this.
xxsavagecherryxx I feel like a lot of it's contrived by deliberate misunderstanding of the classic folklore that Labyrinth is based on. I mean, it's not like the backstory is hidden. Also, it's half the 'sins' were based on the premise that the Labyrinth is some kind dream or hallucination. Given that's it's a fantasy film that's not even trying to pull the 'it was actually a dream' twist, is it too luch to approach the movie as if there was actually adventure in another world? This is fiction for a reason, folks.
I don't!! :D :D I love the movie, but I also love this video!
“Sarah...Sarah are you home?” Where the hell else would she be?! It’s midnight and she’s babysitting her brother.
Exactly. Even if she wasn't baby-sitting her baby brother, where else would a 15 year old girl be at midnight?
@@JR-ju3kjobviously dancing with a goblin fae in a dreamworld 🙄
"Do two imaginaries make a real?" - Actually, mathematically, they do.
Except they don't have mathematical value.
bwc3821 Actually, they do. 'i' has a value of the square root of -1, so when you multiply two imaginaries together, you get the real number -1.
Kgcopper What does the value of "i" have to do with the value of something that's imaginary?
bwc3821 'i' is just the letter used to denote an imaginary number.
Example: square root of -16 is sqrt(16) times sqrt (-1), simplified to 4i. Also, sqrt(-16) times itself, and the sqrts cancel out, giving the real number -16.
Hence my original comment/ joke.
Kgcopper Don't worry I found you joke funny.
bwc3821 You need to take some math classes. Imaginary numbers are an actual thing used by real mathematicians all the time, they allow you to take the square root of a negative number and if you have two imaginary numbers in a single problem you can combine them into a "real" number.
"Do two imaginaries make a real?" If we multiply them, yes!
I'm gonna call that a sin for bringing math into this! **ding**
+Melvin Shaw Sin? I consider that cause to remove a sin. I have yet to see too much math.
McPeeperson Smith Touché, my good sir.
+Melvin Shaw :D cheers!
ha nicely done!
I've never noticed Jareth's little look down after the goblin said:
"the girl who ate the posion fruit and forgot everything" and before "what of her?" that's genuine emotion like he feels bad for doing it, or it's like a break up for him? My god that made me love him even more!
(Yes I'm a steriotype get over it!)
As someone who has a lifelong love for Labyrinth, I thank you for this wonderful rendition. THANK YOU for pointing out the rocks would've made Sarah stinky when they came out of the bog. But I must say, most of the men I know who grew up in the 80s say Jennifer as Sarah was their first crush. And I remember being strangely/pleasantly confused about The Bulge as an 11 year old.
"You probably wondered what the hell you were thinking as a kid" excuse you Labyrinth is one of the best movies ever made
Hayden T no doubt the fantasy is awesome David Bowie was amazing and the songs are so damn great i don’t get why would he say it didn’t hold up well it holds up amazing well and it’s one of my favourite movies from the 80’s
Hayden T agreed
Thank you I know this film word for word it is there best film ever in my opinion

"If you're like us, you loved Labyrinth at some point in your youth. And if you've seen it lately, you probably wondered what the hell you were thinking as a kid." Watched it again yesterday. The only thing wrong with this masterpiece is the rocks coming out of the bog of stench.
Because the most crazy thing about this movie is the ROCKS coming out of WATER i DON'T care that this comment is two years old..that is some caveman like thinking..
@@justsomeguy1136 The point isn't that the rocks come out of the water, it's the fact that they manage to walk across them without being affected by the bog.
@@2gamerzone7 you have to fall into the bog for it to make you stinky so whats your point here? The rocks are seperate from the water that makes you stinky.
@@justsomeguy1136 The rocks came out of the bog, meaning there would be residue on them. Surely touching that would have the same effect as dipping your foot in, unless the curse of the bog only works based on the water-level, which would be absolutely ridiculous.

Gretchen Hangleton too bad. :/
This is my favourite movie and no sins can make it less perfect than it already is!!!I watch this movie at least six times a month!!!Yeah!!
I watched it one time, like 6 times in one day. I was just starting to get into Bowie and I loved watching the documentary.
Hell yeah!!!!
+Kimberly Haines so do you watch it 1 time? or 6 times?
+ZacBlurBlur What I meant by my wording was that one time (or day I suppose you could say) I watched it 6 times in one day. Normally when I watch it I only watch it once a day. Hope that cleared it up. I wouldn't be surprised if I did write this when I was half asleep, wording my thoughts gets quite a bit more difficult. Like right now. Sometimes I stop and can't remember what word I was going to use, and I can't grasp the flow of the sentence easily so that I can adequately write down my thoughts...
+Milica Kalezic the music is amazing one of my favorites, i always listen the whole soundtrack once in awhile, this should be a cult movie

Char Aznable you are the only one willing to admit it. ;)
Double innuendo
Char Aznable STOP FOLLOWING ME!
But yes commander, I totally laughed my ass off.
Not at all, you are just intelligent enough to recognise the innuendo. It's like "The Bog of Eternal Stench". In Britain, "the bog" is a colloquial term for a toilet but the joke is often missed by people who don't know that.
***** the original bog was an open cesspit, in time it was covered over, but I suppose swampy grounds reminded people of them, so the word came to mean both.
This is my favourite film, just due to it's insanity and fun silliness
I love this movie for all of the sins it has. It's so cheesy, it's amazing. Plus I had a total crush on David Bowie as a girl. -swoon-
I don't have a little brother he can snatch away, but he can snatch me away any day. I will gladly be in his kingdom. :3

Wow, so many people in this comment section who either don't understand the point of this channel or are just overly upset about a nearly two year old video
+ShadowVincent3 They're upset about the loss of Bowie, and it's spilling over. I admit even though I love this channel and everything it does, I winced whenever they directly sinned/criticized Bowie. Yet, it's that very need to see some Bowie that makes you seek the video out. Catch 22.
31webseries
I guess you're right. Makes sense. Even if it is two years old and was made when Bowie was in good health
+CanCanKant Dude, I agree. I watch this channel all the time, I get their brand of humor, I know how it works. I was just explaining that if you viewed it within 48 hours of Bowie's death it tended to effect you differently.
+31webseries yeah cinema sins are jerks for not accounting for Bowie eventually dying! Or something? That's not a reason to be mad.
+Stephanie G Pretty sure +31webseries was just addressing the original comment. He was wondering about the sudden rush of negative comments, and they just pointed out that people were super upset after Bowie died, sought out anything with him in it on YT, and cringed a little at the Bowie sins because at the time they were grieving.
RIP David Bowie, 2016 was a hard year
I absolutely enjoyed this movie~ The songs were pretty amazing too. I watched the making of it, and dang, so much effort was put into it! So many puppets!

Labrynth was an awesome movie; and David Bowie, (RIP) did a fantastic job. I can agree to disagree with you on this one.
Sins removed for every second on camera Bowie appears
"Pfft. He's only a half brother."
They said that in the Bible, and the half brother in question became the de facto ruler of Egypt and ended up in a position to get revenge on his half brothers who screwed him. Granted, he didn't go through with it, but still; bad idea to screw over a half sibling for being a half sibling.
"Makes biblical connection that actually applies.....hmm this is not a sin. Move along"
Well, technically most of them were half brothers, (1 guy 4 baby mama's) but Jacob loved and wanted Rachel 1st.
3:58 Except he said that if you so much as put "A foot." in the bog of stench you'll smell bad for the rest of your life, regardless of the rocks being in the bog, Ludos' power could of made it possible to dry the rocks as soon as they rose or something.....

Holy shit, hidden Bowie face! How did I NEVER see that?! 😱😂
Laughed the whole time. 80s movies are full of "WTFs", it's almost guaranteed. 😆 Still one of my favorite movies.
May David Bowie ROCK IN PEACE! 🤘🏻
+Sinstar33 There is actually quite a few hidden Bowie faces in the film :) There's a video on youtube showing them all :)
+plazgaz Ya know, I'm actually not surprised. Gota find that video. 😆
David Bowie's junk in this movie should subtract sins, not add them.
This movie is flawless and I love it. Of course the only truly thing wrong with it is that once you hear the songs you won't get them out of your head, and also...it's interesting when you see there is a human world equivalent of Jareth in some of Sarah's photos, which has a Captain Hook/Mr Darling vibe to it.
When this movie first came out, I want to see it in the theaters. When Jennifer Connelly first appeared on the screen, my heart actually skipped beats because she was so stunningly beautiful. At whatever age she was, she was a goddess. Also, that was the first video that I ever purchased on my own. My arms looked like Arnold Schwarzenegger's in no time.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears that Jareth falls in love with Sarah even though she does almost nothing but whine and I guess look pretty throughout this movie. Jeez, if I had known that kind of behavior would help me get a man like David Bowie, I would not hold it in when I'm having PMS.
Brigit Bryner 2 years later, I think it has to do with the fact that she doesn’t throw herself at him.
Labryinth is fucking awesome, come at me. Am I the only one who feels like 90% of these "sins" are just nitpicking at nothing? Also what the hell is wrong with 1980s Bowie?
I knew this would wound my childhood....but the commentary is worth it......
"Eye lichen me some fingeyes" I laughed for 5 minutes
again I love his laugh
I'd love to see your treatment of the Cars movies.
