    no other way to put it, Roger is a genius. No if and or buts about it. He's written music for every genre from rock to opera, he's even directed films. He is the very essence of bad-assery. If that isn't a word, it should be.

    This is perhaps the best Waters' recording that I've ever heard. In fact, this whole album is still in my top 10 of all time. The build is amazing, and lyrically Waters is right on point. I've often considered this the final chapter in his reign in Pink Floyd, a perfect conclusion to "The Wall" and "The Final Cut." As an album, it plays like one long song, and it's nuances are simply amazing. I'm not sure what happened with his later solo efforts, but this one will always be to me top notch.

    If anyone ever says that Roger Waters is not able to sing as I've heard from many comments in other videos of his, it is simply because these people don't know the difference between a performer and a true vocalist. If you might not know, Waters's voice is his biggest trademark in the Floyd world along with his amazing bass lines that were unleashed all over Floyd's albums. This voice is the result of his long journey with grief and agony since he lost his father in the WW2 and that was obvious in The Wall. And then he was raised by a terrible mother (he said that to Howard Stern, not me) and last but not least he loved a terrible girl friend who left and betrayed him. It really makes me amazed of how much this artist is tough to express all these black circumstances through brilliant and professional performance.
    Claps Waters !!!!!!

    I agree with @purplefloyd1739, this is the best solo of the album and in fact I never thought Eric Clapton was any good until I heard this. Was my first CD I ever bought and easily one of my favourites. I dont agree that Roger was trying to act like he's playing Eric's guitar, he's just singing and playing bass. If you knew Roger you would know he has no reason to act like Eric or anyone. He is Roger Waters! Enough said on this topic.

    Yeah...Rogerhas always had very animated head movements like that...if you see his live shows especially. The 4 inch thick leather shoulder strap should have been the first clue that he's playing a heavier guitar like a bass. not to mention the fact that in his later shows like In the Flesh, he plays the 6 string quite well. Not as good as Eric, but at no time does this video actually show Roger playing a 6 string-WTF...

  • @whodroppedthefruit
    @whodroppedthefruit Před 5 lety

    I will post this question on all 4 videos in question. Is there any place that explains why there are 4 different videos of this song? 2 are animated and two are images/video interspersed with Water's singing heads hot.
    The two animated videos have a significantly different tone. One is a very dark and literal depiction of the lyrics, while the other is more erotic and fits the "another (wet?) dream" sequence of Pros and Cons.
    Then there are the two interspersed videos with different images/video appearing in each. One feels like it was intended to use the imagery used during the live performance and the other uses some of the same imagery along with other clips that feel more like memory sequences from The Wall (for which the song was originally written).
    All 4 videos were obviously intended to be used for different reasons, but I can't find any place that explains why 4 different videos have been made for this song.

Someone could make the mistake, and I see what you're saying, but I don't think it s that he trying to take credit at all.

    Not true. Yes, there is a very literal interpretation of the lyric in the film that went along with the concerts, but I think the line stands alone as a thought-provoking line of poetry.
    I think MOST of Roger's lyrics stand alone very well, and I'd be freakin' surprised if he never published a book of lyrics/poetry/prose/etc. With songwriters from Lou Reed to Ric Ocasek doing it, why shouldn't Roger? Since he plans to retire from the road after The Wall tour, that'd be something to do.
