    Thanks for the tips. So many things can only be learned through experience. Like the wood closing up on your hand, I never thought of that happening.

    IMHO all those Swedish type axes are kept way too sharp and are way to short to use as a splitting tool for any real amount of wood. They're more a glorified hatchet. Great vid , well shot.

    An extremely safe technique. Keep your hands as far as possible from the cutting edge and be mindful of the swing arc.
