I love the (not so) subtle nod the game makes to the novels that certain humans can detect the psychic(?) communication frequency the hive uses and it lets them know when xenomorphs are approaching.

OMG, the details in this game, the writing, the weapons, the music, the shuttle, every little bit breathes classic Aliens movies.
I've seen about 30m of footage so far, but even the clicks from the key taps scream "Alien”. Wonderful touch!
I wish Chris had walked through pioneer station... you would've seen the marine squad sweeping their flashlights around on their own to look at stuff, turning to aim down corridors they're passing or doors that open, and even sometimes turning around walking backwards to check the rear of the squad...
Literally impressed the heck out of me when I saw it.
The sound in the game is great too. The gunfire, the motion detector, even tapping on a keyboard. Some of the cutscenes look incredibly movie-like.
The gameplay looks a bit like Wastelands 2/3 but in real-time.
But too few sound samples ... "Move Move etc " ... that bored very quickly and too loudly in stealth mode. reduced immersion for me
I like how after trying to make them more human, Weyland-Yutani just decided "screw it, make the androids even MORE uncanny."
They look like they were built by whatever the Bobo Weyand-Yutani corp was named in Isolation.

To be fair, they seem to cut cormers where they can, so putting in the most basic models wouldn't be beneath them.
This is everything I wanted in an aliens franchise game.
I was thinking the same thing 10 year old me would kill fir this game back was I first watched aliens. 😂

Not everything, first person perspective or 3rd person would be better
@@realfake6669 nah. First person wouldn't work too well for strategy game of this sort, obviously. (and Aliens FPS were done before) 3rd person would be even worse. This is Space Hulk but without forced grotesqueness of WH40K and crutches of tabletop rules. Now if only this game had less bugs...
I dont know...this makes alien not scary at all. Alien isolation got it right. But still big respect to developers alien games are good.

So assistant admin sees there's a problem in the loading bay. Goes to check it out. Finds an employee ripped apart and dying. Picks up gun and looks around instead of sounding a general alarm. Really?
I thought that from the moment she saw the live feeds 'I need to check it out!' as blood splats against the camera, FK that!! Sounds the bloody alarm!
I think she was already having a disagreement with the captain or whatever and that would get her in trouble if it was a false alarm

This tutorial level is fantastic. Does a great job at introducing you to the gameplay mechanics while highlighting the horror of the xenomorphs through the eyes of a civilian during the initial infestation. I was pretty hooked watching it.
Edit: Pretty surprised that Hayes made it out alive. You can bet that the fact that she was the one that activated cerberus protocols will eventually come out. By the time it does though, the marines might be more willing to agree that it was necessary to stop the xenomorphs from getting off the planet.
Unfortunately, the tutorial level extends into the first mission. So you can't withdraw back to the Otago, upgrade, and go back to Dead Hills because the game glitches out when you upgrade a marine.

This is an amazing start and really gets into the Aliens mob rush and rampage of the movies. I also love the use of Real Time/Slow Time features of the soldiers skillset.
I love the vibe they set in the tutorial. I will most propably pick this game up myself👌 thank you Odd for top tier content as always.

After watching the trailer for this game I thought "Odd will for sure cover this". And oh look, you have. One tip i've SEEN though is the mission maps are approached like Red Solstice is. Dont tackle every mission in one outting. Get in, get a few done and get out as the stress and difficulty gets harder the longer you stay via the hunting mechanic. Get in, secure checkpoints and resources, then get out, go again with a freshly recovered squad.

Oh wow, this game is giving me vibes I had when I played.. tried to play Alien Isolation. (I hid in a locker and uninstalled the game, to be forever safe) But the flashlights show you what is there, not what you don't see. OMG, this is going to be good. Glad you are playing it and not me, cause I would just hide a lot. lol
I watched your Aliens Isolation playthrough while I was moving cities in Japan. I didn't have internet at my new place at first so I ripped your daily uploads off youtube so I had something I could listen to while falling asleep. That series will always have a special place in my heart.

My only; the only; pet peeve is that I liked the previous Spitter Xenomorph designs but other than that This game has it all ! The variations in enemies the added lore and the strategy are all awesome ! I hope this game could allow for a greenlight to Alien Isolation II one day

@@lastburning you have no idea about the alien games do you just look at the receiving a great game like Alien Isolation has received. It deserved every appraisal praise and support it got but instead it did not get the recognition it deserved. Thus gone the hope for Isolation chapter two. This is a very common theme throughout the alien predator and avp game series. Also avp game from 2010 is absolutely great too

+GH-dn4vv well technically one of the larger xenomorphs could be named that way there are some lore indicate that they are more akin to wasps bees and ant like eusocial insects ie asexual female hierarchy. Also the existence of molting and royal jelly confirms or hints at it
