I'm sure they'll LOVE the fact that you posted this a day before the game released in some terriroties, complete with a massively spoilery thumbnail image.
People looking for reviews will have seen that without even looking for it. Smooth. Hope you're pleased with yourselves.
This would explain why there were multiple Queens, this Xenomorph is obviously a Queen Mother. Queens don't usually share a planet or territory with other Queens but it's clear that this Queen Mother was in charge of those Queens.
According to what? All of the queens found were in separate parts of the planet, it doesn’t make any sense to have one queen for an entire planet, do you know how big a planet is? It wouldn’t make se se just logistically for the aliens to spread if they didn’t at least have (probably) hundreds of queens making thousands of eggs each.
Remember in aliens the aliens took over a tiny settlement of “300 families” we can extrapolate that that’s around 1200 people including children. One queen was more than enough for that. But for a settled and populated planet, you’d need more than one queen just to not have to transport the eggs the massive distances needed to spread the Aliens.
I think it was just supposed to be a colossal Xenomorph that used one of those giant ET's as a host. It being enormous alone doesn't mean it was royal anything as far as hive caste.

That happened awhile back, I take you missed Xenomorph Kerrigan in the comic books? This game is likely hinting her appearance in a DLC.
Had an interesting thought. This thing acted a lot less like a full grown alien and much more like a chest burster-it obviously dropped out of that hanging corpse at some point, and begins mindlessly seeking to devour organic materials to grow, and of course a lack of legs or specialized defense augmentations.
Maybe it wasn't even fully grown...
It’s nice that an Aliens property remembers many of the things introduced in the 1990’s comic line, and calls back to them.
Idk wut some of you guys are saying that is not a queen mother, and their can be multiple queens on a planet just in different regions, the queen mother is even suppose to have some legs lol thats just a bigger version of a xenomorph from a different species thats why the big ass eggs didnt trigger when we walked by them.

They're not Space Jockey you're referring. They're a worm like alien whose upper shape is definitely like the Space Jockey you're referring but they're not. There's mummified skeleton of it at the entrance of the city. The lower portion with no legs and worm like tail indicating it's not. They're a different kind of alien species just like the Drukathi or Dog-alien from Alien Sea of Sorrows and Rage war. It's more like Medusa from Clash of the Titans.

Ridley Scott attempted to retcon that with his much more humanoid Engineers, but it was poorly received. There were also inconsistencies in the films, such as the Engineers being far smaller than the original Space Jockey, and the popular fan theory is that the Engineers are a more recent species attempting to imitate the Space Jockey's, which they may revere as gods.
This game seems to be ratifying that fan theory, and presenting the Space Jockey as a separate species, enormous in stature, and with a serpentine lower body. The giant Xenomorph looks like a regular warrior alien that used one as a host.
If this is a Space-Jockey Xenomorph, then it confirms that Engineers and Space-Jockeys are infact separate species, take that Ridley Scott!
Yeah, not a fan of them being just big marble skinned humans in suits. I prefer the freaky weird alien growing out of a chair thank you very much.
There are many discussions about the fact that Prometheus/Covenant Engineers are not the real kind of space jockey, precisely because of the scale and elements in the artist H.R.Giger's work that show that the technology and bodies of these beings can mix. to me it makes perfect sense that the true gods are not humanoids in curious clothes. The actual oddities like in this game suggest that the technology or subterranean place itself was extensions of these beings and even if they seemed locked in mechanisms perhaps their minds were turned on and they could psychically move around and control the facility as they pleased.

@@mitkoogrozevI always thought the engineers and the space jockeys where completely different species. Because in the original alien the alien in the char was 100% organic. So I figured that the engineers where just copy cats.

I presume it came from the creature that's fused to the wall. Looks similar to the Engineers before they were retconned to be statuesque marble skinned humans in suits. At around minute 5-6 one of the creatures has it's chest burst open.

New xenomorph boss look like cross between eel/medusa because the facial structure and its snake like body or it could be that weird robot dude creation by combine different native species into one but it might be the new aliens because they don't look like space jock or engineer it could be different species all together because they don't have legs ether might have to craw around like the new xenomorph did

It was nice seeing them use the story of Aliens - Apocalypse to such degree. Loved that comic, playing through the "possible sequel" to it was even better.

I think the xenomorphs drove the jockey species to the brink of extinction, making the few that remain reach transcendence or change their existential state to something akin to death. This game reaffirms a strong idea that I have that maybe the Jockeys are a kind of hive, and that maybe they had psychic powers, much of this comes from what can be observed from the xenomorph itself, the queen seems to be a kind of nexus of mental connection with the comedy, and this is perhaps not because of the fact that she is a queen, but because the Jockeys have these skills. if the xenomorphs are an outbreak that stole characteristics from the Jockeys it may be that ideal species for xenomorph reproduction have different ways of reproducing, humans for example have sex. This Xenomorph Jockey may have designed the hierarchy by controlling the genome itself. only the xenomorphs that are born from humans and terrestrial fauna that generate caste systems, other alien beings create the most integrated version of the alien as Xenomorph-Jockey and the PredAlien, both already having the ability to reproduce without separating into worker or producer castes of eggs.

This queen mother or even just king/queen is like a predalien variant which explains why it is so unusual since both predator and alien live within the same universe essentially
how many hours gameplay?
I beat the game in roughly 24 hours on medium. It's a hard game. But it's VERY enjoyable. The mission after the prologue is the finest Aliens gameplay ever. You're basically the marines entering Hadley's hope. It's so much fun, and scary!!!
Can someone explain what stopped it attacking them?
The dad and the daughter have psychic powers/connections to the Aliens. It's a genetic quirk that causes them psychological and physical trauma, especially for Sgt. Harper because he didn't get "trained" by Marlowe's cult. Basically it means they can understand the Aliens and even give them orders, which is what happened. Unfortunately, because Sgt. Harper was already in bad condition and untrained, the effort of making the alien pause was enough for him to die.
Some very rare people can basically “communicate” with the Xenomorphs telepathically, the young women and her father belong to this group, basically he gave himself an aneurism telepathically attacking The Titan Xenomorph (it’s official name)

@@sourabhkarmakar8040 the prometheus and alien covenant engineers are being disregarded by canon. in the Alien RPG book it is said that the Xenomorph's "breeder" species may be something that has been culturally assimilated by the engineers. this Alien dark descent game shows more of the original beings called space-jockeys who are legless organisms like worms that grow from their installations like a fusion between flesh and machine.

And in Aliens Ripley fought the Queen after their second meeting not first, at first meeting she ran away from the Queen too. So they're following that way.
Don't think I agree. We don't yet know what the official look of the complete space Jockey is, also the architecture of this city is too similar to the engineers/space Jockey to be a different species. Plus these giant aliens also have the elephant trunk extending from their mouths.
Also the idea of a space Jockey city taken over by Xenos feels very similar to the comic 'Destroying Angels.'

You know, this would have been more epic if I don't know "YOU GOT TO BRING YOUR TEAM DOWN WITH YOU!" (What was the point of raising them just to not take them with you? Even XCOM 1 AND 2 had the final Mission be "your King piece" AKA The Psy Operative that you gave "the Gift" to and You in the Avatar body in 2! and the rest made up of "your chosen squad" JUSTIFYING growing your units) guess they wanted to "heighten" the TENSION. Since the finale of every Alien's has the protagonist alone or with someone as they escape (This is largely simulating the Finale of ALIENS where Ripley went down into the Nest to rescue Newt! Except she went down ALONE!) Would have made sense for YOUR team to go down and cut off at the "halfway point" if they wanted them to "be alone just for the other two to get killed off! and their "big chase sequence, then they're would be one big final battle as the squad waits for the Elevator to function and the tension would be high as hell! At least Fireteam for it's flaws in the finale, gave a HUGE wave battle!
But game's interesting, with the price and being able to play it early from a friend who got a free early copy so I got to try it from them! I might buy it in the future for the PS5! Hopefuly the issues will be "ironed out!" before that point I buy it

5:47. Im actually confused, the comments are saying that the alien is a Queen Mother but doesnt the queen mother have red skin and legs and is like 20meters tall ? I also see people talking about engineers and space jockeys being the host but didnt the space jockey in the original alien movie have legs but they were infused into the chair ? Plus the corpse seems way bigger than the space jockey's body. Can someone clear things up for me ?
I liked the beginning of this game, it got the atmosphere right, but this ending was weak and shallow to me.
That ending was so disappointing, your marines do all the work and hayes comes in to steal the spotlight. The entire campaign you build them up and dont even get to play as them in the final mission. No, you get to play as 3 immortal characters with infinite command points. You can literally stunlock the final alien boss. And after ALL THAT, your marines die in the backround of a cutscene. Love this game but that ending was awful.
I’m kinda glad that happened. Playing it on nightmare on that last defence 3 of my marines were killed, 1 unconscious and the other on 3 bars of health. Sad I didn’t get to see them again after the end
can someone explain the ending for me... i dont understand the telepathic scene at the end.... great game but i think think the story at the end is a bit disappointing with the telepathic scene.
During the game you get to see Cassandra's father having wierd mental issues every time the Hive gets angry. After a while he explains it's his natural ability where he can "hear them". Cassandra also has this ability and was used by Marlow to create a way where humans could coexist with Aliens. Marlow also said she was able to speak to them, infuence them, guide them. They never shown this ability in use tho. We were only told she can.
In short. Game shown us Cassandra and her father having natural ability to "feel and hear" the hive. This in turn can lead to them being able to control Xenos as if they were their queen.
@@peterchestowski2419 so this kind of touches on Alien: resurrection. But does this mean that Cassandras father was a test subject in the past too? He couldn't just develop a natural ability to control xenos... That didn't make sense... He must have developed that from somewhere...
@@sebastiangheorghiu4751 It's either a story thread they don't wanted to explore OR it's saved for Part 2 of the game, or future DLC. We got no real answer in current game.
We can only create possible answers to this problem.
1. They were experimented on in the past.
2. They are among those with special genetic mutation which allows them to do this type of stuff. I think there was a small indication in the story where Marlow was testing people, searching for this special gene.
3. They come from people who were infested with Xeno embryo.
4. Or scenario similar to Aliens 4.
Dunno what the creators will go with, I just hope they end up explaining few story threads they left unexplored.

Another aliens game from Focus Entertainment where the "final boss" is a run tf away situation. Honestly? Fucking L. Glad I skipped it.
Would have been better if you ran TF away just to be able to kill it in a BADASS fashion. But I agree just running away and you win is kind of lame! I did enjoy the rest of the game to give this a pass as it's just the small percentage of the game (You won't BELIEVE how many games I've played had "great journeys" but "poor destinations" though I'm a "journeyman" so I don't mind, not like I lost much money. Just hope they FUCKING GIVE UP ON THIS CONCEPT!)
But what wasted potential. Why did they go in with just THREE people! Would have made since to NPC the three and just have them being "escorted" by your chosen team! (I mean XCOM did this TWICE with ONE Major character being the "King Piece" if they die "game over" with your training the rest to be their "elite escort" team and their with you from the start of the finale to the end of it) The Final Chase would have been better left "in a "in-gameplay with no input from you" cutscene! AFTER a decent boss fight! You'd think after people COMPLAINING they'd learn to avoid this (I can GET Fireteam VANILLA doing this with the Queen, but it's "continuation" DLC should have "remedy" this!)

@@dantauche7917 It was, but since it's seen as a less than AAA game (even tho before release Cold Iron was calling it a AAA game) it has a bunch of white knights groveling before it. However the numbers don't lie, that game's basically fucking dead and since it's so poorly designed for single player (Cold Iron outright refused to give loadout options to Alpha and Beta as some sort of bullshit excuse to force coop woth real players, thus making them useless) The game will be failing and fading away. Aliens Vs. Predator? I can still play that and complete it on any difficulty, this game? Soloing everything on hardest difficulty? Not doing that shit unless they wanna cover the blood pressure meds I'll end up needing after doing that
@@Fuzzycatfur the worst thing is that there are good guys in the community to mod the game but they have blocked the online mode for those who use mods, when we see how Alien Colonial Marines has become better with the Templar mod and Cold Irons not just for their shitty equals they stop modders from improving the game
