1997-9 Chevy Astro Van Fuel tank removal

The video shows the process of removing the fuel tank from a 1999 Chevy Astro Van. Some of the problem issues addressed are separating the fuel lines and dealing with a broken weld nut on the tank strap bolt.

I had the same problems with mine. I measured from the inside and drilled a hole and cut it with my tin snips. I put a pan over it with some ZIP screws. I've done it this way as well. The New way I did saved me so much time. Still a good video if you decide to drop the tank.👍

Nice video, I have a 1991 and my configuration is a bit different I think. My fuel lines run down the drivers side frame rail along with the fuel filter.

My safari has the skirts on the side so I would need to Jack it up a lot further to work on it,things are getting rather rusty so I cut the floor,I just used a zip cut grinder,if it burns up no big loss.Crap design.

Can I drain it with out taking it off?

I was able to drain mine a little with a transfer pump, but it didn't work too well. It wasn't the best pump.

Any danger with gas fumes and your tools creating a spark? Thanks for the bible verse. It shouldn't bother anyone who is getting free info from your video.

Unfortunately, I have had the tank out several times. I have never had an issue, obviously since I am writing this. It is a good point though, you can never be too careful with gas fumes and an ignition source. The bible verses have bothered a few that have left negative comments. I hear enough vulgarity on these types of videos that I figure a little light might might not hurt.
