Love your unbiased reviews. I had a 2017 2500 and traded it in on a 2020 SRW 3500 Denali and I HATED the DEF under the hood. Things I wish GM would change is a dash option to show what gear you’re in and a better exhaust brake.

I just bought a 2013 chevy silverado 2500HD 6.6L LML Duramax. It has 145,000 miles. I'm going to add a Air Dog 100 gpm lift pump and use Lucas fuel conditioner (slightly over treated) in the fuel. Also l plan to keep my fuel tank full. Once I get to 3/4 on the gage I'll fill up. I'm going to do everything l can to protect that CP4. Because I bought it used l have no way to know if it has ever been replaced. Also I plan to always keep the DEF tank full as well. I had the cooling system flushed, transmission fluid changed with filter. I'm going to do the T-case and diff's in the spring. I did buy a super chips dash mounted tuned to check for codes and monitor things like the injectors and boost. I'm not going to download any tune Into the trucks computer. If 397hp and 765pft isn't enough, l don't know what to tell ya.

I look forward to seeing that one and getting your perspective on its performance. I don’t particularly have anything to compare mine to with real personal experience. At least not apples to apples. I’ve towed with an LML 2016 Dually but it was a flatbed and had about 4000 pounds of pressure washing equipment plus an 18’ enclosed trailer that weighed about 10,000 pounds total. It handled it like a champ but would top out at about 65 mph on about an 8% grade hitting it at 55 and then going WOT. So not a fair comparison because my truck will just fly up that same grade with my trailer.
Anyways the trucks are very heavy. Based off the payload numbers my truck is around about 200-300 pounds heavier than that one. Mine is a 10000 GVWR too you know and has 1802 payload I think.

    Should I buy a 2021 Ram or a Chevy/GMC? I’m towing a 35 foot travel trailer 8,000 lbs empty. I’m going 1 ton.

Depends on which one you feel most comfortable with and the deal you can get. I personally love the RAM because of the Cummins/Aisin configuration. I believe this powertrain is the most bullet proof currently 👍🏾

I have a 21 Chevy ltz duramax and love it. There was some things that drew me to Chevy like auto 4wd and independent front suspension and the comfort. Bottom line go out drive both and make your decision you can’t go wrong with ether of them.

Yea man I am with you. Allison is hands down the best there is. But the motor, Cummins man, Cummins is strong as hell and will last forever.

I agree, all RAM has to do is mate that Cummins in front of an Allison and we will have us a MOPAR that will truly be hard to beat 🤘🏾! Hope all is well brother 👍🏾

I personally own a powerstroke, but my 18 wheeler has a 15L cummins 950,xxx miles this year we will probably turn around 1.3-1.4million miles by year end.
Oh theirs a 6.7 powerstroke 2011 I believe on powerstroke talk he’s a master ford tech he just had a 6.7 powerstroke come in with 1.3 million miles from New Mexico think it’s had a few turbos aside from that everything original.

Hey no offense to no one , but 200k is NOT high mileage on a diesel engine, as comparison , back home ( Costarica ) 80% of cars , trucks are diesel engines , so the same Toyota Corolla you see here with gas engine back home have a 2.4 diesel engine and have been running for years same engine some 500k plus miles and that’s for a simple corolla , don’t let me start talking about Toyota Hilux, Isuzu Dmax, vw amarok Etc etc , the market place here and USA want us to buy gas vehicles because after 150k miles or so you need to replace it where as on well maintained diesel engines they run FOREVER , don’t believe me .. ask 18 wheel drivers …. Good luck guys

200,000 miles on any diesel is really nothing. That thing is just broken in.

The only thing with the transmission is GM's calibrations ruin it..
There is a good CZcams video out about putting the Allison behind any diesel and they get a million miles on them with no issues in a medium duty truck but not in a Chevrolet because of the calibrations these sissies wanted their trucks to shift like cars and that ruins the alison transmission...
