I dig the long sleeve shirt buddy. And I really dig this album. I love Glens vocals on here. Cheers
Nice Long sleeve shirt
And Hooded Menace Vinyl
I owe a lot to Deicide. When I was in a couple bands during the early 2000s, I used Deicide's self-titled album as a warmup for my vocals, and I enjoyed their output up until 2000, then they put out 2 below-average albums. Scars of the Crucifix was pretty good, but Stench of Redemption was a true return to from. I find that their output after that has been subpar at best. The new album after a listen has some good moments, and reminds me a bit of Once Upon the Cross. However, I understand why Deicide does not resonate with me anymore. When I first heard them I was a teenager at a Catholic school, and I thought bands like Deicide were the "forbidden fruit," but now that I've grown up I find that the lyrics are childish as we move away from Legion. Banished by Sin is far from the worst thing I've heard, but if I want Deicide, I'll be going back to their 90s output for sure.
Stench of Redemption rules!!
Stench of redemption is one of my favourite Deicide records! Very different to the earlier material but then I like having two distinct eras and the difference that brings with it you know?
I’ve enjoyed this album a lot more than I expected to. You’re right that there is a bit more variety on it than previous releases. Overall it’s a pretty good album although that cover is a bit sh!t. lol. Cheers. S.
I feel bad for anyone too miserable to enjoy this album.
Yeah, good point. Its a rocker, has some good material on it. I certainly ordered it after first listen.
That doesn't even make sense
Never been too big a fan of Deicide. There’s just way better death metal bands out there. Great review though.
Thanks so much for the kind words! it's been a weird one with me, I think for me Deicide have always been a little bit of a second wave kind of band you know? I do really love The Stench of Redemption and the guitar leads on that. Totally mad - thanks for checking out the video!
Never been a fan. The solos on the clips sound good though
Fair enough man, if you think those are good I definitely recommend you giving The Stench of Redemption a close listen. That record is one of my favourites for sure. The guitar work on there is absolutely amazing!
It´s an "OK" for me. Not bad, not really good. The problem is there are a lot of new bands doing it better...
I think you're right, in all honesty if perhaps it wasn't Deicide writing the record then maybe it wouldn't have got as many eyeballs on it - that being said, there were still some great little moments on there that I enjoyed but yes - its not awful by any means but neither is it great
That's hilarious.
@@TheMetalTrisI feel like it's the opposite(if it wasn't deicide it would be bigger) because sensitive people think glen is mean 😢
@@prestonjennings9085 you are 100% right. I have been thinkin much the same. I saw some reviews that were just thinly disguised attacks on Glenn, not much about the music at all in truth.
@prestonjennings9085 hes a stoner lol...that whole era are Stoner party dudes grown older..
