Enjoy watching a good operator work. I was never much on clams or draglines but my dad could make one dance. Have watched him comb slopes dressing cuts up, was a real artist. Would never hear the chains rattle, miss him every day.

That's one way I learned to run a drag line is standing next to a good operator and watch what they do. Still takes practice with the crane.. I used to haul and spread marl for farmes.. I would still do it but you can't get permits.. to dig in wet lands.. it would destroy toomuch Mosquito Habitat.. and make nice wildlife and fish ponds..

Oh yeah!! The 30-b 's are smooth enough for loading trucks . I have run a 1 3/4 yaun on mine with 70 foot of Boom . The 30-b 's have the largest swingers of any machine of its class . I use mine alot in pile driving also . Them Koerhing ' s are a though machine to I would actually prefer a 405 over a 440 for duty cycle work .

      @@cotterdraglineservicesinc.9167 I have a good Hendrix 1 3/4 HS bucket I would sell..
I have heard there is a fine powder to put on your brake drumps .. Something Earth ... ? Some old timer told me 25 years or more ago ..
My Northwest liners have considerable brass in them .. work better than generaric after markest linings..
Fullers Earth .. I think popped into my Brain..
My Korering Manual calls to grease the center pinion bearing wiht Gredag 44.. I have seen such a thing listed but has not been sold for years..
Always looking for a better open gear grease .. Started with Top Sol Synthetic in caulking tubes.. they have long since gone out of business.. Can't get crater compund anymore either it had too much lead in it..

Draglines are incredibly practical machines, but they seem to have all disappeared save for the mining sector. Good to see that y'all took advantage of the market. I hope it pays quite nicely.

I have used Bonami it is like comet. Also you could use a product it's called bar keepers friend . Put this powder directly on brake linings and it will condition the linings and remove glazing. Also there use to be a product called Fullers earth it done the same thing. I would try that and just run the hell out of it. ( it should get better)

Them olé 405's are tough ! I have operated Many of them even some late models that fully air. But there is nothing better than a 30-b especially if it's equipped with a torque converter. I'm not partial to a direct drive. But however I've thrown a many yard with one.

I'm no dragline expert but why do you pull the bucket through the manure for so long? Seems like you drop the bucket and the manure pours in. On another note, that operator is incredibly smooth.

If you dumped from 10 feet abouve the spreader you could make a spectacular spalsh ja ja ja .. So is this what they call bedding sand? Seems I have seen a local fram use both a long stick excator "very small bucket and go right into the pit with a 5 yard front end loader..

Chances are that much of the material would fall (Spill) out if he began hoisting at the point where it looks like he should. Notice that the bucket has a lid welded on it and he keeps the bucket in tight while hoisting to retain the slop. A clam with one wrap on the close line the thing to use if the whole job is like this. However, a clamshell bucket any larger than a tea cup would also be murder on the swing frictions working at the radius he is. Having done this sort of thing myself, I would say he knows his business and what tends to work best for him in these situations.
